I made this recipe but instead of vanilla I added coffee for flavouring and it turned out delicious! Beautiful creamy and silky texture, neither too thick nor too runny, just perfect!
I used these to fill some birthday donuts and they were delightful! i love that this wasn't too sweet but so creamy. it really balanced out the sweet glaze of the donut
I just made this and it turned out so good!! It's currently chilling in the refrigerator. I'm so excited to have some when it's cooled down! I sampled it hot to taste test it, and it was soo good! This also made my kitchen smell like a really nice vanilla candle! I highly recommend giving this recipe a try ☺
The thing I like the most about custard, is the skin created in the surface when it cools down. Try adding a simple biscuit. It turns s'thing delicious into s'thing unique.
I loved this! I used your recipe as filling for cream puffs and they were so delicious. Love how you made this vid so simple and easy to follow ❤️ i couldnt stand to finish other vids with a lot of “blah” making it all the more confusing lol
I just made this recipe and I initially thought it wouldn't set well cause it was a bit thin after the simmer but it came out beautifully. The texture was perfect. This is my forever recipe. Thank you💖
Thank you for sharing your recipe for us. I just doubled the amount based on your recipe and it comes out great! Now I can finish making my Crema de Fruta. Cheers!
This was really nice, I made it just like the video and it turned out delicious! But I'll probably whisk it even more next time to make it even smoother. Thanks for the recipe. Oh, I added honey to the milk when it was simmering. It gave it a nice flavor.
just stumbled upon this channel, and i can immediantly tell its great. its not like BwB where he teaches you how to raise your own chickens and cows to get eggs and milk, how to make your own flour and blah blah blah. here you just have the recipe itself, and i love that. i always wondered what custard is, it looked like pudding but was too lazy to translate it lol. (im not native english so yeah) gonna try this recipe out soon 😋
Thank you! I watched 5 videos before this (including Jamie Oliver's). They all made it far too complicated. About to try this out. Looks like it'll be perfect (for English Trifle). Good job!
I like this recipe a lot! But I do it a bit differently. I beat the egg yolks, 1/2 cup sugar with my stand mixer then beat in the cornstarch until mixed. Then put 1/4 cup of the 2 cups of milk into the mixture and beat until smooth. Then I put this mixture in the pan with the remainder of the cold milk, and whisk until smooth, and heat up on medium or medium-low until thick, about 15 minutes. Add the butter and vanilla and whisk until smooth. Then put into dessert cup or bowl. I never temper the eggs, and they never curdle. I always do it this way with no problems. It is yummy!!!!!
I’ve been wanting to make puff pastries with fresh fruit and custard. Once the custard is ready, do I put the custard on the cooked pastry or do I put it on and bake it with the pastry? I’m new to baking so I have no clue. Help please 🙏🏻
Make sure to follow the steps as written in the recipe and watch the video as a guideline while making the custard. Remember to cook it low and slow while it's still liquidy until it thickens up. Good luck!
Daniella’s Home Cooking I think I skipped the “keep cooking until it thickens” step. Lol... it’s too late. I just checked it & it’s gross. I thought it was going to thicken in fridge. I will toss it all out & try again. One mistake for a lifetime is skill is okay by me. 💙
Do you have to stand there and stir the custard really fast for the whole 15 minutes while its simmering? Cuz that's what the model does. The written instructions on the video don't say to do so though.
Hi, I would say it lasts up to 3-4 days maximum as it contains eggs and milk. It’s a good recipe that you can use for a variety of desserts, and if you try it out, Please let me know how it came out for you :)
The first time I made this it was good, but not sweet enough. I made it again and increased the sugar by just 2 tablespoons and now I feel it has the exact sweetness I was looking for. I think the original recipe would work great when making it as part of a desert, but I make it to eat like a pudding.
Super confused, after you pour the milk mixture in, she then later says to add butter and something else but that’s not in the instructions. I’m a little confused.
My wife (who’s pregnant) is craving custard and we literally have all these ingredients at home and a kitchen aid. Thank you so much for this video 🙏
😂 I like the “and a kitchen aid” lol. That was my thought too. My arm couldn’t hand whisk that long. Ufftdah. Congrats on the baby!

Its vanilla power that we have here in sweden. But you can easily substitute it with vanilla extract.

Is it alright to substitute with margarine, if you don't have real butter ?
When you say bring milk to a simmer. would the temperature for a simmer be between 71 and 82 degrees Celsius? Rgds, Mark.
Is it OK when I am simmering the custard and the milk together for 15 minutes it has foam on the top
