Great point on lowering the Input. It would be a nice feature addition to have a link button that increases Output to match the Input changes so the overall level out is the same. Many other plugins have this.
Took me way too long to realize this! This helped me get good clean boosted sound with Plini for funk rhythm and indie rock tones. I’d def love to see more videos like this. Thanks Steven!
For all of you who don't like Abasi while still owning it, try dialing back the input a veery tiny bit. I did that once to try scoop of some of the aggressivnes and lows and it worked. For me at least...
Thanks for the tip. Just purchased the Omega and godt really frustrated that I couldn't get a proper clean sound. Really happy with this sim. Soooo brutal, glassy and full sounding. Beats any other sim Ive tried.
Very nice content !! It's a little bit like the volume control on the guitar. I spent years leaving it always at the 10 position until I discovered one day, that one of the best clean I could get out of my amp was actually by rolling off a bit my guitar volume. In an ideal world for the Neural DSP plugins, I would have preferred that a kind of algorithm manages this adjustment for me 😄. Today we have the volume of our guitar, the input level of our audio interface, the input level of the plugin and the Gain 🤪 🤯 !! It's a lot !! Finding the sweet spot can be time consuming and we could be lost tweaking. I would love that if I bring the gain down on the amp in the Plugin, an algorithm or something would automatically compensate the input level to keep me in the sweet spot. I know the sweet spot is different depending on the people but still Less is more ☺️ isn't this, after all, the philosophy of Neural DSP regarding guitar plugins ? 😜
Really great tips, thanks! On the plugin wishlist: an emulation of a b-bender / g-bender - maybe in a Brad Paisley archetype, with some great DR Z tones? (throwing money at screen..)
@@themightymcb7310 well, actually, not in most cases. i guess that with active pickups it doesnt really matter, but with passives you usually lose some high end when rolling down volume (unless you have some treble bleed caps installed)

That's great for a single channel amp, but what about the Fortin Cali, to name just one? You turn down the input volume for the clean channel, but then what when you're changing to rhythm or lead channel? The master input doesnt change when changing channels. How do you keep the power up with a low input volume?

Is there a video how to avoid popping when you hit notes on clean tones with effects, compression, and boost? I’m currently using Tim Henson along with Plini’s effect pedals
If what you call popping is a clipping issue you need to dial back the gain on your audio interface. If you are talking about notes jumping high and becoming dirty when playing a clean tone you need to add a compressor or limiter before the amp to avoid cleans becoming gritty. Hope it helped!
All clean tones on all plugins (not just Neural DSP, but I have tried Tone King) are whisper quiet on overall normal system settings. I find them useless. Sure, you can turn up the system volume to the point where everything else becomes dangerously loud, but I do not think this is a good solution.
Rolling down the volume on your guitar, partially engaging a volume pedal, or dropping the volume on an EQ or compressor or whatever that goes into the front of the amp.
@@themightymcb7310 Thanks! Very counter-intuitive as I always assumed maximising the signal going in would be preferable. These guys twiddling their guitar knobs on stage like Jeff Beck make a bit more sense now.
@@robertjones9598 Yeah, it's actually possible to clean up a proper distorted tone with just the volume knob assuming you have a high quality pot installed and you aren't running some kind of boost. Van Halen did it a lot. That's how he got that low gain tone from Hot For Teacher, for example.
I hope not. These plugins aren’t cheap but once I buy them I like knowing I won’t have to keep shelling out a monthly fee. For Adobe stuff or Slate it makes sense but Neural stuff isn’t that expensive, relatively speaking. Plus theres always the 2 week trials!
Devin Grubbs sorry I find that these plugins are very good, moreover their cpu load is low compared to others, and given the number of amps I would not be against a monthly subscription and take advantage of new products when they come out .. I preferred can be given 10 € per month rather than 150 for each amp ..
Clipping turns a sine wave into a square wave by chopping off the peaks and valleys. Gain distortion has a softer knee at the tops and valleys and adds saturation (i.e. odd or even order harmonics).
Also: how to dial clean tone in wrong. or, how to raise noise floor and reduce dynamic range. This sounds like wet cardboard. Just use an amp or plugin that sounds good clean. There's no audio at the end of the video.
That feel when I'm just now realizing that I've never tried to record a clean tone in my life after 12 years of playing guitar

Dayum. I always thought input knob should be thought in a similar way than input gain in audio interface.
Im super new to guitar playing and recording, and having a couple Neural DSP plug in's, this was very eye opening
Hm.. this might be helpful for all my tones.

is this an exclusive feature to neural dsp with them recreating the real life amp experience or is this how all amp sims operate?
