I will not support these brand who’s playing hermes game. I went to Rolex last time and they kept telling me nothing is available in the store and some people is buying stuff for almost $250k still can’t get the simple Rolex, I automatically turn off and get Cartier watch instead. My husband is the same, we will not lower our standard to beg like the brand is something special. We own the money, and if they don’t want our money, it’s okay we can buy from other brand.

Don't believe the hype, nothing it worth being on a wait list for unless it's and organ. Second hand market from reputable sellers have plenty of items to purchase. Any brand that makes you wait or tells you you have to be a VIP customer is not worth it. I've found several pieces that I've wanted from VCA and Cartier that are no longer available from other reputable sellers. So do your research and you'll find what you want at the right price.

I had a similar experience at the Van Cleef boutique in late October. Went in to get my necklace cleaned and, while waiting, I asked to see the holiday pendant. The SA told me they were sold out already, because of the limited stock, and were only allocated to the VIP clients. She showed me a picture of it, since they didn't have it in the store, and when I saw it was in white gold, I said I wouldn't have been interested anyway 🤣

I coule be dead in 9 years, not going on any waiting list.... there are enough brands out there which make gorgeous jewelry or Swiss watches.... not worn by thousands and thousands of people.... that ridiculous love bracelet, the Alhambra line, diving watches as regular day to day watches are bad taste anyway.... why you want to have something everyone is wearing all over the world? Let go of these tacky brands... And don't go pay artificially more because a brand wants its products to become rarer..... Go buy from real artists ... (and stop buying the ridiculous Birkin bags).... they are not worth the money.... you're being brainwashed... just because you have the money doesn't mean you should become mindless and spend too much money on overpriced products .... there are gorgeous bags out there, with perfect finishing and details for normal prices... look for example at Aigner (the one from Munich not the American brand with the same name)... Chanel, Van Cleef and Arpels, Hermès should be about quality products and not about making products artificially rare just so that they can charge insane amounts ... f them .... really.

This Topic so good I jumped on my tablet from my tv. I don’t support shenanigans. If Luxury is doing so well that they feel they can steer a whole customer base towards the Pre-loved market during the beginning of the recession then more power to them. Not playing games to purchase items. The customers that they are giving it to is selling it 😂😂😂🤣🤣How exclusive is your product if there’s a zillion Birkins, Kelly’s, Van Cleefs, etc sitting on the secondary (Pre-loved) market ready for purchase 😂😂😂🤣. My answer is not very. Hermes is starting to realize that their missing out on a customer base which is why their CHANGING their strategy. Obviously the shenanigans aren’t working and they rather cultivate those new customers willing to spend the cash in their stores 🤣🤣😂😂🤦‍♀️💆🏾.

They're just following what Debeers did years and years ago in the diamond industry. It's called manipulation. They control the supply of diamonds to give them the appearance of being rare when in fact diamonds aren't rare at all. They created the idea of spending 2 months salary on an engagement ring to boost their profits. It was a marketing campaign that still dupes people to this day. There are very talented, independent crafts people all over Asia who sell pure, undiluted 24k gold jewelry that is, by far, more beautiful and holds its value better than any watered down 10k, 14k or 18k alloy piece from the typical jewelry stores in the states. Do what makes you happy, but know what you're really getting in terms of gold value and weight.

There are so many options and I don't intend to sell my items in the future so those so-called investment spending on luxury goods doesn't exist for me. Don't allow brands to play me.

At this point I know I will not be able to buy the same items my parents had, and I do not care. I learned to value myself more than a specific brand. There are plenty of fish in the ocean, and this is exactly what the big brands are trying to hide from us by getting into the whole “piece” and “limited” and “classic” talk. It is just a bag, just a shoe, just a watch. All brands to this, really, but the issue with the “luxury” brands is that once they sell you the “ultimate” they have nowhere to go.

Lol. At the core of Hermes is products made with the highest quality material and the best craftsmanship. They didn't invent the pre-spending strategy to sell more of their "less desirable" products, because all of their products are the best quality (minus some things that are obviously not made in house). For other brands to follow their "observed" superficial "business model", it's going to be a shit show and I'm excited to see their embarrassing retreat of this strategy in 5-6 years.

I was offered and purchased the VCA holiday pendant this year even though I didn't care for the white gold. The celadon porcelain made by the famed Royal Sevres Porcelain factory intrigued me. Hermes, on the other hand, has been a long long journey. 11 months on from when I first started, and over $20k spent, still no quota bag. I'm gonna give it one more year and then I'm going reseller route or only shopping in Paris or other European countries. This is getting so ridiculous. I regret not going the reseller route to begin with. If anyone is looking to get an Hermes bag and not interested in any of their other products, dont even bother to go through the boutiques. Just goto a reseller. Get your exact specs for a few thousand premium. Worth it.

Hermes started this and it is because people are willing to beg for a item the journey thing is simply begging . . I'm sorry you are a store you sell things I shouldn[t have to buy other things to get what I want. I will spend my money else where there are plenty of brands who will gladly take my money The fact is for the money you spend on the well known jewelry you can take that money
and have pieces designed for you that can be unique and not have what everyone else has.

H did not start it, as crazy as it sounds, this strategy (be a VIP/big spender in order to get access to certain products) has been used in luxury watches/cars long before, mostly on men's lux side. H probably got the strategy from them. In cars, it is even stricter in some cases, to even be considered for a very limited sports car, you not only have to be a big spender but own certain limited cars already, (yes just to be considered). That could be the next step for H. (To get certain birkins you would already have a birkin or 2 on your file etc)

prices of goods have gone way up, take calf leather or ostrich as example then add inflation, both cost more and less of best to go around hence supply/demand issues AND just read an article about less craftspeople, watchmakers, jewelers, leather crafters + such, in past generations would follow family into same work but not so anymore thus less people to make watches as an example - would think VCA has a very limited supply so they decided to offer to perhaps people buying high jewelry collection as if we assume more limited than "normal times" they have to have a process, at least they were honest - global economics are most definitely a factor, these are not normal times, cheers!

There’s so much luxury inventory out there now, and you don’t even need to buy it new with how the resale marketplace has exploded. Not to mention, queuing up to buy the It-item says nothing good about your personal style and simply marks someone out as being in thrall to a brand’s marketing department or as an insecure person desperate to prove your wealth. Of course they’re going to capitalize on people who are suckers and gullible enough to fall for such underhanded, predatory marketing tactics. As someone who actually has self respect and likes to think critically, I do not support brands that aren’t going to treat me like a valued customer. The traumatized, insecure suckers with daddy issues can take the bait all they like. After the economic tsunami is done with us, I suspect a lot of folks are going to regret being price gouged by Chanel on absurdly overpriced, subpar luxury goods that they didn’t need. If you look at the M1 money chart and see all the cash that’s been printed, that should give some idea of where we’re headed. Spoiler alert: it ain’t gonna be pretty. Years ago, all I wanted was an authentic Hermes Kelly. I designed for a famous fashion house.I get it, I do, but now that we have all caught on to the game why are we still playing it? It reeks of insecurity. The prices have become obscene. We can be immaculately attired and elegant without appearing desperate to be included in a 'club'.

This happened to me at VanClef in Neiman Marcus - they made it sound like the scarcity was because of the pandemic. Makes me think that this will even translate to clothing brands/bags, etc. At first I thought their lack of inventory was due to no one shopping in person, but now I think it started with that and they adapted to online, and now create forced scarcity in the stores. They don't care if they close their brick and mortar - much cheaper to operate. The sales people are the first to suffer this :(. They all know that recession is coming and that luxury items are first to be hit. This is their way to hunker down.

I’m a VCA ….vip customer. I think it is s ugly that they say that to you. Maybe vips can team up with ppl like you who want an item. Sad it will backfire on them. They still need to pay rent and salaries, the good times are going to end soon. Everyone’s money is the same, except for naughty money laundering ppl. Like the two women in Chanel counting out 30,000 dollars on the table, yuk

It’s disgusting that Van Cleef turned you away. I thought in October they were only taking orders from VIP customers but in November anyone could get a chance to pick one up. Do they still limit to VIP customers for the holiday pendant?

I think the stores are operated differently than e-commerce, which seems unfair to their customers.

I agree, I texted my SA to reserve the holiday pendant last October, my SA just seen my message. I lost interest in Van Cleef, it is as if I’m asking for it for free. No more Van Cleef for me!!

It actually makes sense that if you are 50/50 undecided of buying a certain item, just buy it. Coz if you dont want it, you will just dump the idea of purchasing. One lesson learned is buy it if you have the chance to. As long as you won’t break the bank. Say no more to sleepless nights

Went to the Rolex AD at Crystals Las Vegas back in August. Told them my interest regards to another Daytona for hubby's birthday in September. And you're correct none of the dealers have any on hand, but got the call 3 weeks later.
I bought my stainless steele back in 2008 and all my purchases were back when Benbridge was an AD. So no "history" per se with them. So call me lucky. It's not always the case.

They want to make their products more exclusive and make more money. We bought my husband’s Rolex after putting his name on the list for 3 months. The brands try to copy the Hermès anti-marketing strategy which has been successful. But Hermès is Hermès. Chanel bags don’t have great resell price, for example. Thank you for sharing!
