Ducati Monster 1100 evo diesel does not drive on diesel, it's a diesel edition. Diesel is a fashion brand. hayabusa, XR1500R, ural also runs on gasoline
Awww. I became skeptical at the Hyabusa, but I was hoping the Ducati was actually a Diesel. Now that I think about it, you can convert a gas engine to diesel, by removing the throttlebodies/carbs, replace the cylinders, rods, and crank, with more robust versions that have more bolt mounts, a compression ratio past auto ignition point, replace the spark plug with a diesel fuel injector, setup a pump and fuel system to handle the necessary pressure, and find an ecu or setup an Arduino to control the timing of the injectors. You may even be able to use the spark plug signal of the stock ecu, and just adapt the voltage to what the injectors need.
And I think that's it.
A Desmo diesel motorcycle, would be fantastic. Stick one or 2 turbos on it. Make it a neat work of art. That would be one of the greatest bikes of all time.

@@observingrogue7652 It would be cheaper to just buy a diesel motor than to swap a bunch of parts out with custom built ones. And besides, oldsmobile tried converting a gasoline motor into a diesel motor in the 70's and it didn't go too well

Let me make this thing clear...DUCATI Monster EVO by DIESEL is a petrol engine not a diesel based engine....as written everywhere Diesel S.p.A. is an Italian retail clothing company, located in Breganze, Italy.....

Many small diesel start on gas and switch over to diesel once warm. The only video I can think of is a TD6 dozer crawler.

@@OldGriz708 well, some old Diesel engines where started on gas and switched to diesel later. But this does not means an Ural, that might run with diesel fuel is a diesel engine.

I like the Ducati 1100. I like diesel engines and I think it would be cool to have one on a bike.

I think a diesel would work well for someone who commutes a long distance. I used to commute on my CB450, 85 miles one-way each day. Weight and speed (beyond a certain minimum) are not that important when you are lined out on a highway or freeway. Reliability and mpg are important.

i think a diesel engine fits perfect in a bike, i can imagine myself getting on my bike in a cool october morning, turning the key and it rattles to life like an old tractor, belching out a small cloud of black smoke and riding down the road smooth as silk only sounding like a 7.3 powerstroke instead of a chopper
you have to actually swap a powerstroke into your bike

Best diesel bike is royal Enfield taurus. It is discontinued in 1996 but it is available in india.

Good joke, but it's the engine, not really the fuel :) It's technically possible to have Diesel engines that run on gasoline, or any other fuel.

Sushil Shingade My uncle bought the same bike from the scrap yard. In 14 years I have repaired the engine and rode it, it was a M-72 57 release year. Analog of this bike from video.
Sushil, it ain't diesel if it has a spark plug and a carburetor (I can guarantee you the Ural is not a diesel).

The Ducati Diavel evo Diesel is not a diesel -powered motorbike, "Diesel" is the brand which ducati has collaborated with to to that kind of motorcycle. Also, if you payed attention, it revs higher than 9000 rpm, this means that it hasn't a diesel engine.
When hand cranking an engine, do not wrap your thumbs around the crank handle. Doing so puts you at risk of endeding up with broken thumbs, if the engine back-fires!
Um, several of these aren’t diesels.
Why? Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. Putting a Diesel engine in a motorcycle makes as much sense as putting a turbine engine in a tractor.

ducati evo diesel is the model name and not the fuel or engine spec.. its a gasoline engine. and its not the only one thats not a diesel

I don't know anyone would want to ride a diesel powered motorcycle? they are heavy, and underpowered, and even worse. they make a shitload of noise. and a person would have to sit and smell those stinking diesel fumes. I was a OTR truck driver for many years. and I got really sick of smelling stinking diesel fumes. I guess some people are just weird.

I enjoyed the true diesel engines, just proves ( as my mother used to say ), no such word as can't. Pity about the pretend diesels. All the bikes were good, its just that the true diesels, with starting handles, were in my mind a lot more inventive and a hell of a lot better.
Nothing like a long nose Peterbuilt with a 500 horse caterpillar diesel with a 10 speed supershift... You can pull mountains with these...

I would love a diesel bike for my yam 1300tf. Lovely but Very heavy bike and crap gas mileage. Sound also suits big cruisers imo .
