This is probably one of the most succinct explanations I've seen. I'm also glad you led with hip flexor/abductor strength - everyone is all about doing the splits, but so many people can't even take advantage of their latent flexibility because they don't have the strength to lift their own legs. It's easy to forget that your legs account for almost 1/3 of your body weight - they're heavy and not inherently easy to lift!
I thought I lost this guy's videos on my other ID. This time I remembered to click subscribe and the bell. Hard to find really good videos so I'm glad I found this one.
Great stuff! Helpful for me for sure, I'm 6'8" so I've gotta work extra hard on balance and strength in my hips. Now to do this in my Chuck Norris Action jeans... .. .
Great video! Would you mind making a video solely focused on more of hip flexibility/strength. I've watched your other stretching videos( all very useful and easy to comprehend which helps out a lot.) I stretch on the daily but haven't noticed much of a difference. Any suggestions on how far to push through the pain, healing times, and weekly regiment? Haha. I know that's a lot of information but you're a great teacher and would love to hear your insight on that subject and any tips you've picked up on the way. Thanks again for being genuine, real, and a teacher at heart. Keep at it. Joseph
I'll see what I can do about making a hip based video!! As for your own body, just keep playing with it and doing research, knowing your own body comes with time for sure! Lots of practice!
This was a useful video, thank you. :) Would be helpful if you could put links to videos you mention in the description, if it's not too much of a bother.
Could you please do some more spin kick etc tutorials. Been doing all sort of material arts for 20 years off n on. Can do side split as well as you and can do headkick roundhouses. Then moved more into self defense. Just for personal use I'd love to get them flashy kicks rocking n you the man!
lol you just created some incredibly strong legs with your hindi viewers, with that "I don't care your language you speak do the whole alphabet" part. An I'm loving the comedy, and information you put out. I bet you do amazing work as a teacher irl. Hell you inspire me just watching your videos on topics I'm already versed in.
"Lean against the wall and write the alphabet with your leg, don't care what language you speak" Well... If you speak Chinese, you're gonna have one tough rest of your life :))
My Muay Thai teacher told me [1993?] that too much flexibility will result in loss of power, he said it was OK to stretch, just not in excess. Now I am old and am trying to regain what little flexibility I had, as well as mobility and strength
Couple of weeks into this kicking stuff and this was rather helpful though it might take same time before this 43-year old is going to be of danger to something else besides my foes nuts, knees or ankles. Front kick might just reach the height of the groin and the side kick on a good day knee, mostly ankles are at the risk. As far as spin kicks go trying to get to the point where I don't twist the ankle I'm trying to balance on or not to fall down after a sad spin kick. Damn this hobby is hard, should learn to kick, punch, throw and grapple while moving the correct way and keeping the hands high, getting punched to the face kinda sucks even with little strength behind the punch.
Thank you, I will try these out, personally there are some Thai boxing stretches that really do wonders for me, but it requires another person. Thing is with some of the mobility drills you do, I am already use to all that and I am pretty hyper flexible due to my hyper mobility aswell as my experience in Bjj. My hips are VERY flexible, so are my knees, but the issue is I can barely do a headkick, because my hamstrings are VERY stiff and when I do head round house kicks, I feel I can not whip my hips enough and my leg can't fully extend, but my body and leg kicks are really snappy and natural. I have been told the reason my Hamstrings are so stiff is because I am so flexible in most other areas of the leg to a pretty extreme level and it is the body's way of reinforcing my knee joint, so I don't just become really wobbly when I stand up. Is this a thing you commonly see with other people who have very flexible hips and knees? If so is there a nack to increasing your hamstring flexibility, but keep your existing flexibility? Main reason is because I want to try my hand at MMA and I am really getting into Muay Thai for my striking base....But most of my ground game is based around my flexibility and I don't want that to change if I can help it.
Sensei Seth this, Sensei Seth that, Karate Nerd this and that, Hard2Hurt this and that... All sorts of "experts" these days... You wanna kick higher? Grab a stool! :))) Alright, now let's actually watch the video :))
Does this apply to other sports like baseball and football as well? I just want to make sure that I don't do anything counterproductive to my main sports training.
if you really want to kick like a mother F-er join a world Taekwondo school , no matter what kind of Karate or art you do it will help your kicks big time

That’s the truth! You’ve either got to have really light legs or really strong hips!
Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for!👍🏼😀
Happy to help friend!
Hello again you spend a lot of time answering comments it’s really appreciated 🍻

Buddy! I’m so impressed. Great info here but the degree of improvement in your video production is just phenomenal. Less than a year later. Nice work

@@SenseiSeth what can I say I’ve found quality content and will be looking through it😂🤷♂️

Gotta make sure you hit both sides for sure!!

Writing the alphabet is gonna be time consuming for the Japanese viewers ( because the letters have a lot more strokes)
EDIT:
I'll see myself out
Sounds painful for sure
The seven thumbs down are from the bois who tore their bois.
What kind of camera do you use?
