4:48 I just want to say as someone who just finished University for a degree in Agriculture, AI and and other automation technology is really getting big in the field most of the phd students projects were using it to help with sustainable farming, lots of projects using it to identify plant diseases and insect damage. It really is a super cool use case

Proven since 2020 for sure. Automation is here aka age of abundance. the bottleneck is farmers with no education on how to market after its all packaged by bots.. my industry fully does it fully..

I'm running an AMD 5800x on Asus x570 Prime-P with 64 GB 3600Mhz cl15 ram, 512 Gb Samsung Pro gen4 NVME, 1 TB corsair gen 3 NVME, and 10 TB spinning rust with an Nvidia 3080 10GB, and to burst your bubble I'm running 70B parameter models on it no worries, it's all about the right model type and Quantization, I'm using GGUF 5 bit or 6bit Quantized for the best accuracy against size. Works fine.
Waiting to buy those in ebay in a few years.

SLC is way cheaper than DRAM
@@malventano I don't know enterprise prices so I don't know what the cost is, but any machine that houses multiple GPUs likely houses a not-insignificant amount of DRAM anyways. 2TB DRAM is about $2k, so if an all SLC drive was $1k or less I could see that make a lot of sense

Now just need a system drop in a DVD AI upscale to 1080p add all the meta day with the only input from me being put in DVD and then take out. It also needs to store 2000 -3000 movies and TV shows on ssd. This does not have to be super fast just good.

Funny you mention GAI within the next few years. Ray Kurzweil recently updated his date for the singularity to exist by 2030.

How much electricity will all this AI stuff use? Will corporate desire to replace humans with AI to lower costs actually be offset when power companies realize they can charge these AI companies 10x? I guess that's why Google (or was it facebook?) bought a nuclear reactor. Can a digital twin of a nuclear reactor make electricity?
