Super fun when your not having fun AKA distracted it last FOREVER and when your into something it just fly's by. Right now it feels like the clock is ticking backwards...

Thanks for the feedback. I'm sure my midwest monotone contributes, but I am looking at improving the quality of the presentations.

Thank you for the breakdown. I explained to my youngest yesterday that I don’t have any perception of time without a device or calendar, and without one it would just be a general idea based on the daylight or seasons.
I didn’t know there was a term for it. Any past date is simply noted if a highly memorable event happened.

Yeah. This is how I feel. I'm in a job where I have to be at certain places at certain times of the day and it's exhaustive. I need to look into less time critical careers

I thought that was a trick in the very beginning to test our time perception! Ha ;)

I'd love to have heard this recitation recorded on a better microphone so there is more clarity. I'm getting a muffled voice on my end. I really appreciate this info, but it is somewhat unclear.

Hello Dr. John Kruse, just wanted to thank you for this content. I have just started to suspect that I may have been a add person my whole life and am now in my mid 50's. I left a comment here for you but unfortunately left it as a reply to someone else's comment lol. You will find my comment under the sixth comment. If you do happen to read it would you mind giving me some feedback as well maybe some other methods that may help me stay motivated to stay focused and organized? I have fought a good fight up to now but feel I could use some new tools to add to my tool box lol. Thank you so much!

IDK if I have Dyschronometria, in my case, moving forward in time seems normal but time that has passed has stretched. I've monitored it for the past 10 years & it continually stretches as I get older. I noticed it when it was about 1:3 (1 minute recalled as 3) it is now 1:5ish. I'm hyper punctual & always have been. It is a weird phenomena.

are u trying to prove a point about time perception, by not having your voice and lips synced?

@John Kruse i kid, but as someone with add. When u put togther a video like this. It is way to difficult to watch. Perhaps u are trying to reach other Boffins. If so then ignore. But if u are trying to reach the common person with add. then u need to tighten this and sync it..... that said, at least for me i think time isn't perceived differently. Time is felt differently. I think it might be similar to addiction. There is a fear, like time will last forever. Like there is too much time in the day to every fill. Or too little. The feeling creates anxiety. So feeling time different, as it will never end. Cause me to react implusively which in turn causes u to be out of sync with others even more.

I have created a time tic sheet of all daily tasks that I need to do. So what I did to start was write down all tasks that must be done on almost a daily bases. For example bed making, showering, emptying dishwasher, getting ready to go to work, exercising, ect.... then I took one at a time and set a stop watch to time how long it actually takes to do the tasks. Then I organised my time tic sheet by putting the tasks in order starting with tasks that take the least amount of time. Then I go through this list daily from top to bottom. It helps me stay focused. I tend to procrastinate a lot less now due to realizing that tasks really don't take as long as I imagine them to. Also by starting with tasks that take the less time it creates momentum and a sense of accomplishment wich helps me continue longer before taking a break. For the bigger projects, I will break them down into smaller portions and time them as well before adding to my time tic sheet list. For example i wont attempt to clean my whole stove in one day, but rather in parts such as scrub stove top and rounds one day, inside of oven door the following day, bottom drawer third day, ect.. this method helps me not feel overwhelmed with a big project, although i do give myself permission to continue working with the progect if i desire. One can make this list as detailed as needed Depending on their attention spand. My whole life has revolved around list making and daily planners lol.... but somehow I have managed to keep a job, raise kids, and stay sane... :)

regarding the meal recall experiment: all my meals were the same. lol. i really had a moment of grasping the now/not now time reality, for want. especially difficult when i have other stressors going on..how does one explain all of this to person they are late to meet ? again, thank you for your generous amount of information.

One of my other videos addresses how to talk to others about ADHD, so there may be some guidance there. In the moment, it may be hard for the other person to hear any explanation from you, but starting out with an apology before the explanation is almost always a good start. Sometimes sending a followup note, or bringing it up in the next direct interaction, shows the other person that you are still thinking about it, therefore are taking it seriously, and are working on it being less disruptive in the future.
