Sir , why people with huge packages like Aditya Srivastava , KANISHK KATARIA , Gaurav Sir , ....etc they leave huge paying jobs for UPSC ? Many people have IITB IIMA tag who could earn way ahead but joined UPSC . Plz unbox the hidden truth behind
Yesterday I met with gaurav sir he is collector of jodhpur. I told him I am preparing for cat he also gave me some tips. Very humble person he is
Corruption
Money and power are two different things , you can literally rule , literally rule like a king after getting into Administrative services .
Literally rule*
1. Government job means job security and IAS is like the highest level of govt job that u can enter.
2. Pays, Perks and allowances
Perks pays and allowances combined will be around 1.5 lakhs per month
Now u tell me 1.5 lakh per month corporate job vs 1.5 lakh per month govt job, which one looks better?
Obviously govt job as it also has job security, reputation, power and also more respect in society
3. Black income
U can easily earn about 6-7 lakh over your salary in black (this is obviously optional)
4. Only money does not matter when it comes to career, more than money exposure and experience matters. These PPL doing IIT-IIM degrees and then also craving UPSC will not work for lifetime there (some might but majority of them won't)
These PPL will then have have more exposure and experience than anyone which will help them in their further career
These PPL will either start a business or will start teaching
Let me give u an example
This much of an experienced person will easily earn around 5-6 crore plus in a year if they start teaching on some big platform like unacademy
Now u tell me what will u choose,
A hectic job private/govt which will give u 5-6 crore in a year, in which u have to do very much work and stress will be high or u will start teaching the things to students which u actually know
It is like teaching for CAT exam is anyday easy than working in corporate MNC
If u r getting the same pay for both, u will obviously choose the one which is more easy and less hectic/stressful right
This is why these intelligent minds go for UPSC or civil services, it's a long term plan brother which they have thought through because in the end the main goal is to earn maximum and easy money through whichever means possible.
Better quality of life
Having job security
Most important thing high social status

Yes, it’s always better to start your prep early. So once you are done with your prep you can start taking mocks
