The people who are reviewing this mic are making it seem bad by purchasing the kit without the phantom power box that you can purchase for only $10 more. There’s no issues with that. And depending on your computer it will sound different, on my old pc it sounded a bit muffled but on my current pc is sounds pretty crisp. With the right mic settings, it sounds great for the price. If you’re thinking about purchasing this, definitely do so with the phantom power kit. It’s everything you’d normally get, but with a phantom power for added sound quality.
I have a BM-800 I believe it has similar components and using phantom power helps alot. Also have that identical sound card and its much worse comparing to phantom power.
From most reviews and forums, the consensus seems to be that these are decent mics with the included accessories, but once you hook them up to real phantom power they perform way above their price level.
i used to get clicking on my studio monitors, it was usually when i had the power cable plugged into the laptop, or if i was running in high performance mode
You can plug it in directly into your pc, but then it won't sound nearly as good. Best thing to do if you have some extra money is probably to buy this mic and Behringer U-PHORIA UMC22 audio interface, which costs $40 and it will make your microphone sound much better.
You can plug it directly into your computer but there will be background noise that you will have to remove. But if you get an xlr to xlr cable and plug it into an audio interface, there is no background noise.
@@jakeseitzomegareddrums557 what I do to make my mic sound good is plugging my BM-700 xlr to my 48v phantom power box and using the xlr cord on my mic and plugging them into my soundcard (7.5 steel channel usb soundcard) into my pc USB port (the usb port that is closer to my pc charging hole)
I've been tempted to start using a proper microphone instead of an on-camera mic, but it's so convenient to just hit record and not have to sync a 3rd track...
Great video fella. there is clearly a problem with the supplied sound car/adapter. Have you noticed, it rattles when you give it a little shake. When I plugged mine in there was an annoying hiss in the background. I researched RUclips and the same problem was highlighted in another video. Anyway, I have purchased a Sabrent USB 3D sound adapter (£8) and the problem is now solved. Excellent mic, very pleased.
I have this mic! It's a pretty good mic! I have two issues however, There is a slight pitch you can hear in the background even when there is no noise, And more importantly, You have to have the filter on, Because I had the filter off, And when my lip touched the metal of the mic I got shocked😂 So just keep the black filter on
I used to have one three years ago as my first microphone, as bad as it was, I made it work 😂 but then I moved on to a blue yeti and now the shure sm7b. Best choices I ever made
curious as to why you record audio to a different device than your camera? isn't it more work in post processing to sync up the audio with the video? love your videos!
I usually record audio directly into my camera using the Audio Technica AT8024 shotgun microphone, but the preamp built into the camera isn't terribly good, so if I'm specifically making a video about an audio product, like this one, I want to make sure to test it properly.
I bought a Tonor Q9 for about 50 bucks.... It's not horrible, but it is at the same time. The reason I say this is that the sound is great, but they have a condenser built in you can't turn off, which means you really need to fiddle with options, and since it's a USB mic you need to also get third party software as there's issues where it is quiet in games. This mic definitely looks better to be honest, plus it's 20 bucks cheaper!
As soon as you put on the windscreen you got plosives, goes to show that pop filters are completely superfluous, just talk off axis so the plosives don't hit the grill.
Hi, i have recently ordered bm700 and i did not research it well how to connect, i thought it could be a regular mic system, just directly plugin. I received it yesterday and with excitement i unboxed everything n tried my luck but it did not work. then i saw u need a power supply and other alternate things such as soundcard ... Can anyone please suggest me if i will get phantom power supply can i connect with speakers instead of putting that jack in the computer. Please someone help !! need your advise ! thanks
I got this for Christmas I love it I bought an adapter to plug in to my phone 📲 and the quality is very good the range quality is not amazing but it does the trick
I have finally purchased this and the USB DAC has produced the same issues that I saw in this video which is weird because im using windows 10 on my PC using USB DAC: - Made crackly sound like in the video - lowered the pitch of my voice
It sounded to good to be true... (pun intended) That click sound and needing an external recorder it's not for me..... I would love to buy it for $30 but those problems killed it for me... If the brand is reading this please leave a response and assure me that I'll not have those problems... Also: Does it work with Linux? Probably does...
Actually, just pulled out an older Windows laptop I still have on-hand, tried it with that, and no issues. I'm guessing the included sound card doesn't work properly with Mac. Sounded just fine on Windows. amzn.to/2l8KgKB is the USB sound device.
Hi, Mr.Rodigo, using the phantom power helps to reduce the clicking, but without it, the microphone still works fine. And it does work with Linux. Besides, we also have the 12-month warranty and 30-day return for this product in Amazon. Thank you.
dude, the sound card is cheap, but if you plug the microphone to the mic plug in your computer (if you have a desktop) then it works also pretty good, it all depends on your soundcard, the mic itself if working as intended

I have a volume issue...when i record in audacity the volume levels are 100% fine but when i record a game it barely pics up the audio...if im lucky ....and in game I have to legit yell and im still barely heard...please help...i am not running through an interface ...just straight into my motherboard with the XLR to 3.5....could this be why
I Wish You Used An Audio Interface, My Friend YJGToasted (My Friend) Uses This Exact Mic With An BEHRINGER U-PHORIA UM2 Audio Interface. He Has The Gain Set In Between 12 O' Clock And 1 O' Clock And Its Crystal Clear. I Am Buying The Exact Same Mic And Audio Interface Setup As Him And He Said His Experience With The BM700 And The BEHRINGER U-PHORIA UM2 Is Super Awesome. From What He Said, I Recommend This.
That "filter" is not a filter, it's a screen. It should be acoustically transparent. You place it far enough away from the microphone to stop popping from the presenter or vocalist. It's a way of stopping the person from getting physically too close to the microphone.
Yes, the clicky part was using the mic plugged into the included USB sound card on a Macbook Pro, the parts after that were using the mic plugged straight into my Tascam DR-05 external recorder.
Yes, that's the biggest improvement, just having it closer to my face. I've thought about switching to something like this, might do it at some point, just haven't yet.
As of now I use a old android phone as a mic since my microsoft lifechat LX3000 quit working, I am so buying this as its £23.99 which is still impressive.
This mic is awesome but you have to spend another $20 on power supply and it performs way better than it did in this video. $50 was worth it to ditch the annoying headset
Unfortunately I don't actually own one yet, lol. All of the mics I've used direct into a computer up to this point have been USB. I've been meaning to pick up a Focusrite Scarlett, just haven't yet. One of those things, you don't buy the interface until you get the XLR mics, and you don't usually get XLR mics until you have a way to use them. I've gotten a few XLR mics, but they always come with XLR->3.5mm cables, so they haven't been necessary.
I saw the Solo and 2i2 were on sale about a week ago, waited a couple of hours to decide, and the sale ended.... #fail. Might just buy one of the bundles on Amazon that comes with headphones and a mic. The Solo would get most things done for me, I think.
I bought the 2i2 for my brother. Uses it on a macbook pro and he says it works fine. But what was a couple years ago, I think now I'd buy a thunderbolt interface
4tec TV get a microphone adapter which is a little cable that has a headphone and microphone input. When you have the mic and the adapter, plug the mic cable into the mic slot on the adapter and plug it into your phone. Hope that made sense
all that stuff for 31 dollars that's crazy, I'm sold
I don't even need a mic but you're convincing me I need this one haha
The people who are reviewing this mic are making it seem bad by purchasing the kit without the phantom power box that you can purchase for only $10 more. There’s no issues with that. Does the code work in the UK?
It's okay I ordered it without the code, it was already a great price! :)
Thank you, hope you like it :)
Hi tonor, I was wondering What you advice. I want this mic But I use a 2016 MacBook pro. Should I buy a sound care with it? Please let me know!
Louis Campbell bruh 😑
The best review I have seen on a budget XLR mic thank you so much.
You need phantom power to reduce clicking and increase volume
Nah, it was just an issue with the USB interface and the Mac. Tried it out on Windows after the video published, and everything was clean.
@@maxfifas hey just a question can i plug it right into the motherboard wihout sound card like phantom power
I just bought this and it's coming tomorrow, I'm so excited. I was just seeing how good it would be
I'm using the Sennheiser HD 558's while checking out this video too! Thanks for the video.
Getting this soon thanks for the review. This is going straight to my Microphones playlist.
Can you plug this mic in to a mic port in your computer. Do U need a sound card. And if u can just plug it in does it sound good
You can plug it in directly into your pc, but then it won't sound nearly as good. Best thing to do if you have some extra money is probably to buy this mic and Behringer U-PHORIA UMC22 audio interface, which costs $40 and it will make your microphone sound much better.
Not worth it dude, I have it and it doesn’t sound as good as in the video.
Lemme LemonZ yes it does use phantom power or a $6 usb sound if that doesn’t work return the product it’s defective
You can plug it directly into your computer but there will be background noise that you will have to remove. But if you get an xlr to xlr cable and plug it into an audio interface, there is no background noise.

Nice and professional review, man. That deserves a like.
Try the MXL 990 XLR mic, it's amazing for the price. I got it for $40 second hand.
I myself use it with the Focusrite Scarlett Solo ($100) and it's really good.
(It's also a condenser mic and comes with a shockmount)
And btw, I'm using the Sennheiser HD 598SE's, they're amazing!
Great video Jordan and wow that is a great sounding microphone should start using it
I've been tempted to start using a proper microphone instead of an on-camera mic, but it's so convenient to just hit record and not have to sync a 3rd track...
great job Jordan.Audio quality was good .
Thank you this video was very helpful! I actually bought this. Though, the microphone did not show up yet. I have high expectations.

Hey man, great vid! If I dont have an XLR mixer nor the sound card, can I just use it pluging it in the microphone audio jack in my PC?
So would it be better to use this with Windows and receive no clicking sound? Plan on buying this
I bought this in 2020, and the sound card is waaay different, it doesnt have the volume changer, but i can use my computer to change the volume
Should I get this with a umc22 interface or should I get a blue yeti on a tight budget?
wow for the price... it's awsome like words can't describe this

Do you need any sound card or can u just plug it into your PC's mother board and be done with it?
firebulletstorm it works
To me not works
Is a sound card necessary, or could you just plug the mic straight into the mic input of a laptop?

i have just ordered one of these with an xlr to 3.5mm, will it sound better straight into my pc or into a soundcard into my pc?
That will depend on the sound card built into your PC and the external sound card, could be either one.
So.. should i get this mic or snowball mic?
Just a question, can you plug this directly into your PC without any extra hardware?
Most condenser mics require power be injected to make them work well on a PC. You can get a Phantom Power unit for under $20.
