It is a sad sad day, and it was hard to click the like button on this one. Best looking Thruxton R on the market! Best of luck with the sale, the new owner should be very happy.
R.i.p. Thrusty. Your bike was my inspiration to get my own Thruxton R. We owe on mine, my wife’s Ural, and our house but we just can’t bear to part with either! Here’s to a new Thrusty Jr. in your near future!
A man has to do what a man has to do Captain, all the best man. I have always enjoyed your rides and reviews, would be cool to come along bike shopping when and if you do so don't forget your camera :-). Thrusty enjoy your next ride my friend, take care Captain.
Good luck with the house stuff, hope it all goes well and I’m looking forward to following your reviews on test bikes. Looks like someone’ going to get a fantastic bike if they buy Thrusty!
The way of life, not the door to death my friend. Go for it, sell it and start on a new adventure next year or so. Isn't that exciting? What bike will be between your knees in the future? Exciting indeed! :-) Good luck!
I hate hearing situations like this, makes me grateful to own my CB1100 out right, but saying that, my CB is prob only worth about 6k now, not like your lovely Thrusty at nearly 11k, well done for doing the right thing though as the roof over your head is more important, looking forward to seeing the loan bike rides and the bike you eventually buy once the mortgage goes through. Changing the subject, really enjoyed watching those Cornwall video's! Cheers, Paul.
It’s gorgeous and what I’d have done! Sad that they’re ending it. I’ll be getting another Thrusty when I can afford a second bike. The only thing I don’t like about the final edition is the FE lettering everywhere. It doesn’t need advertising that it’s the final edition, as it’d beautiful already and really a bit cynical to sell more of them! 😂🙈
Yep you'll be on something new before fall is over. Every few years a true motorcyclist needs some fresh blood to keep the passion at a high level. My unsolicited advice is to search to you find the next special bike...never ever settle for less than special. I think you needed this boost.
Triumph should pay off your finance, you're basically an unofficial ambassador! I swear I saw them playing one of your videos in a dealership not too long ago..
Alas, poor Thrusty! I knew him, Bigglesworth, a fellow of infinite torque, of most excellent braking. He hath borne me on his back a thousand times, and now, how abhorred in my imagination it is! My gorge rises at it. Here hung those fenders that I have polished I know not how oft. Where be your Ohlins now? Your gears? Your exhaust music? Your flashes of chrome that were wont to set the road on a roar? Pity you'll miss much of the summer, but I am looking forward to your next bike, whatever it is!
Sorry to hear you’re selling. Totally made the correct decision though. Hope you’re back on two wheels very soon. You can borrow mine if you’re ever in the Seattle area.
Quick question - I've just had my clutch and ACG covers swapped for black, for the same reasons you had yours changed. On the clutch side it's a perfect fit, but the ACG cover seems very marginally too big, in that it sits just slightly proud of the edges of the cylinder block. Did you find that on yours?
Hmmm... not sure. It’s possible they are for a different 1200 engine but as long as the part numbers are ok I wouldn’t worry. I do seem to remember seeing them slightly larger than the block.
Sad to hear you're losing your baby but on a side note some information I need to glean from you. Some may call me a senior citizen whereas I like to think I'm a young man with 50 years of riding experience. I'm playing with the notion of buying a Triumph and I still hanker for the more sporty type e.g. your Thrusty R. I am thinking , however , the R may be a tad too sporty for my advancing years ( 71 this year ) and I saw your review of the Street Cup and said to myself "Myself, the Cup may be the answer." In your vast experience do you think I should look at this option ( I really do like the look of it ) or should I look for other ideas?
Ah, good thinking, but the 2 on my list for money reasons at the moment is either an older Thruxton again (after all, it WAS bloody good) or the street scrambler for a couple of thousand more... Will have to see how the finances all pan out. It MAY be that I get more money on the mortgage that expected which would be nice...
You know, you could always get a Harley. That being said, sorry to see the bike go. You shouldn't have too much of an issue selling it, because, it's like, world famous. Best of luck.
Captain Rambunctious There is an article in the Royal Enfield supplement with this month's Classic Bike magazine where a tuning company took a 650 Conti', overbored it, stuck nitrous on it and made "over 100bhp"
A damn fine example of a loved Thruxton R. I would take this off you in a heartbeat if I could. I would just need to sell my wife first...... Not sure she would appreciate that though.....
Captain Rambunctious I'll borrow Thrusty then give it back to you when you're sorted.....? No wait, that won't work either. 😂🤣 Having said that the Street Scrambler does make for a fitting replacement.....
Too bad that the cat delete might make it difficult to ship to the US... Been torn between a Thruxton R or a BMW R Nine T. The tasteful mods would've thrown it over the top...
Captain Rambunctious TMF seems a genuinely decent bloke always thought some sort of collaborative video would be great viewing the sensible one and the well....🤔
What a shame! I get the feeling it's the end of an era. When i sold my GSX 600 because of "circumstances", 25 years went by before i got another one....just sayin'
Don't worry, I have other bikes to ride, I just won't own them... Definitely have another bike in my sights in a few months time anyway. In the interim, I have a few others to ride... Stay tuned!
Good god man, just sell a kidney or something! At least give us the assurance that the Captain will be back! By the way, any chance you have any patches left? My Trumpy jacket seems a bit bare without one!
Don't worry Chad. I am borrowing my freind's street Triple for the interim... Also going to be borrowing other bikes for reviews, so I'll still here... It's never the end of this channel!
I'm afraid that I only have one left and that's for my other jacket now that I've sold my Raven jacket... But I'm thinking of ordering more. They come in 100s and so far only 2 people have requested one, so waiting for more demand... Might do a vid and see what people say... As you might surmise, I wouldn't be able to buy them unless I know they'd sell... Thanks for watching and never fear!

Sad to hear that the Triumph is going captain R. Family comes first, thats a fact of life. Why not try an older bike instead of paying through the nose for new stuff. Theres loads of older model bikes around with the same level of performance for around 2 grand. Use them for a year or two and they are still worth 2 grand. Bandit 1200, ZZR, CBR Etc. Will miss your style of bike banter but best wishes for the future. Tim
Thanks Tim... I'm still going to be riding, just loan bikes for a while. Tempted to get another old Thrusty and start from scratch again... Very tempting... Less than half the price of the R now... I think I still have to go for an older style... Will have to see... :-)
Honestly mate, take a step back. Dealers want to sell you a bike, Thats how they make a living. Even an older Thruster will be big bucks. Try an old mk1 or mk2 Bandit. It will change your perception of what you need/want. :-)
Tim Holt my first bike was a bandit... will definitely see but for me, I do like the classic look. I might go even further back, but then perhaps reliability will be the issue? I know bandits are bullet proof, but I didn’t get on with mine...
Was it a 600 or the 1200.? Nothing more classic than a 20 year old mk1 or mk2 1200 bandit with a can. Unless you have loads of money.:-) Theres so much can be done with em and they are cheap to buy, run and repair. Only problem I have with my mk2 1200 is the seat is @$%& to say the least. £2000 will buy you a really good 1200 that is still worth 2k in the future. I have an Airhawk seat cover which is good but the bloody thing has a puncture.:-(. Went to my Mums last night and it runs like a dream but my bum needed a shower and cream when I got home.!
Whats next? Are you moving away from Triumphs to try something else.Hope all the financial crap gets resolved. As always your family must come first.Looking forward to your next posting.
Geoff S thank you Geoff! Oh probably stay with Triumphs or at least the classic look... maybe a real classic next time? I’m tempted to go back to the older Thrusty, much cheaper and I know what to do and what not to do... or an old scrmambler like Phil480. He’s not exactly slow on that thing!
I still have my 1976 Triumph T140V Bonneville 750, she raced and won against every street motorcycle from January 10, 1977 to September 1986 when I got married. She won every race for 10 consecutive years. I brought her out in 1992 and she raced and won against the new Kawasaki Ninja 1100 and Honda V4 1000cc Interceptor. I will never sell such an honorable motorcycle. When I die of old age my son gets her. The few video's of yours that I have watched all indicated to me that you never deserved a Triumph Thruxton as you are all show and did not defend the honor of Triumph against any challengers. Why would a man like you ever risk his life? You are not the type to risk your life for something you really never believed in. Hence you are selling the Thruxton. Don't think for one single moment that in my life that I have not had terrible financial problems, I have as well as health issues. I still have what is dear to my heart, my Triumph!
Yes, with the 10k I have £62k unsecured debts. Without it it will be £52k unsecured debts, which helps when it comes to affordability for the mortgage... What my house is worth isn't the issue, it's what I owe in unsecured debts... But I didn't want to get into that in the video...
What you need Captain is a good ol Scrambler 865 with a set of glorious pipes and the air box removal kit. Just like you, I too owned the older Thruxton with a ton of modifications, then moved to the new Thruxton R (short term affair, strangely I missed the rawness of the older model) and most recently the Scrambler 865 (cheap as chips, wonderful bikes). The Scrambler has easily been the most gratifying to blast around on. The sound, the feel and character, simply sensational, absolutely priceless, every ride induces a belly aching laugh. Oh, and it doesn't need the molly coddling and elbow grease it's cousins seem to demand. It looks absolutely fabulous in filth. Jamie seems to dig it too, watch this once and you'll want, want want. :) ruclips.net/video/wiANuhCOdIg/видео.html
Captain Rambunctious Crickey, I think I'll give it a miss then, still, at 75 I'm probably to old anyway, just as I've got rid of the kids and have the money 😢 Best Wishes anyway and look forward to your entertaining post. 👍
It is a sad sad day, and it was hard to click the like button on this one.
Best looking Thruxton R on the market! Best of luck with the sale, the new owner should be very happy.
I bloody hope so! :-) No fish biting yet though... Plenty of time...
It was a sad day but who knew what was coming! 😂👍🏻

Thank you and thank you for watching!

We have no idea John, just need to sell it first, do the mortgage and then start again! ;-)
And you do it together. :-) That's most important of it all. Good luck! :-)

Slowrider Paul thanks Paul! It was a very good trip!
Yes, I’m not stopping...
I do wonder what your reaction to the Thruxton Final Edition was 🤤👌
It’s gorgeous and what I’d have done! Sad that they’re ending it. I’ll be getting another Thrusty when I can afford a second bike.

Is she still for sale, I can't see the bike on auto trader?
Matthew Tinnelly she is indeed but I haven’t renewed the advert again yet as it only expired a couple of days ago and forgot...
Good luck with the sale and house purchase! :-)
Sorry to hear you’re selling. Totally made the correct decision though.
Hope you’re back on two wheels very soon.
You can borrow mine if you’re ever in the Seattle area.
Laird Bufflehead I’ll definitely pop by one day!

Ultimately, as long as the gasket fits and holds I don’t think that there’s an issue... I’ll look at my Speedmaster when I get home tomorrow.
@@CaptainRambunctious You're a star, thank you! (Saw after I posted the comment that you actually had the original cases powder coated. My mistake.)

She's looking very well Captain, I hope you get top dollar for her.
I’ve found myself riding to work spontaneously shouting Tally Bally Ho!
Rob Webber it’s a real affliction!
That’s a shame but if it helps with the remortgage rate it’s understandable. Sorry to hear though.
I am thinking if not the Thurton R again, maybe a Rocket III or a Speedmaster.
Ah, good thinking, but the 2 on my list for money reasons at the moment is either an older Thruxton again (after all, it WAS bloody good) or the street scrambler for a couple of thousand more... Would you get the same color if you got the same bike ?
Bike looks really good! Especially those pipes :)
Jool probably. I’d like gloss black but the only so matte
Captain Rambunctious you could always invest in a gloss black paint job - i would assume it wouldn’t cost too much.
I wouldn't want to know at the moment, but will see... :-)
RIP Thrusty! You'll get another. Huzzah!!
Maybe one of the new Royal Enfield Interceptors or Continental GT's when they come out?
Not a bad idea... I could definitely supe them up a bit! :-)
Captain Rambunctious There is an article in the Royal Enfield supplement with this month's Classic Bike magazine where a tuning company took a 650 Conti', overbored it, stuck nitrous on it and made "over 100bhp"
Blimey! How long would the bottom end last though?! And I don't mean mine.. ;-)
At least it's a twin...
Captain Rambunctious Long enough for a few runs at Bonneville, if they're lucky!
I'll take it. Can you drop it off at my place? I'm just west of Boston. I can't pay for shipping but I'll buy you a beer.
Wicked Coolname well that’s my first offer! I’ll let you know! Boston in Lincolnshire UK yes?
Captain Rambunctious Close. Just a few thousand miles farther west!
Good luck with the sale :)
Thank you my lord.
A damn fine example of a loved Thruxton R. I would take this off you in a heartbeat if I could. I would just need to sell my wife first...... Not sure she would appreciate that though.....

So sad to see Thrusty going :( but would 10k make such a difference on a re-mortgage...
Gas Guzzler it’s total borrowed and that’s the biggest part of it really... it will definitely make a difference...
The Baron and TMF best be locking their garages.
desrecording TMF has already offered!! 😊
Captain Rambunctious TMF seems a genuinely decent bloke always thought some sort of collaborative video would be great viewing the sensible one and the well....🤔
Shoutout to the Captain! ruclips.net/video/Ti4UiqrotAY/видео.html
HE GON GET THE TFC
I think that that is a possibility but not a probability... Too expensive. Although, I did see a green Thruxton R... Wow...
I'm actually looking at a green one also full fairings, fender eliminator kit, only 909km for 16k @@CaptainRambunctious
Keith Nguyen stunning! I do love that green and now its on an R model too... just gorgeous...
SO SHINY!!!
You should sell it quickly, it is a very nice bike.
What a shame! I get the feeling it's the end of an era. When i sold my GSX 600 because of "circumstances", 25 years went by before i got another one....just sayin'
Oh don't worry... It won't be for long... I have too much to do!
Neither a borrower nor a lender be. Polonius, in Hamlet.
Absolutely... I'm guilty of both!
Sad times but family come first, I sold my Bonnie last year 😢
Yes indeed... It won't be forever. 2 little ones and I'm not 40 yet, so plenty of time...
Captain Rambunctious Exactly! My dad's over 50 and has only recently bought a Thruxton R
Nooooooooo...not Thrusty!!! Can't you sell something? A kidney maybe? Bigglesworth has 2! Whatever am I sposed to watch now? More fishing I guess...
Don't worry, I have other bikes to ride, I just won't own them... Definitely have another bike in my sights in a few months time anyway. In the interim, I have a few others to ride...
Stay tuned!
My god shes beautiful.
Captain Rambunctious good to know you will still be on two wheels! I’ll await with great anticipation your next chapter, which may be looked upon as a fortuitous chance to experiment with what you may. Godspeed and TBH!
i think you should try a Norton next ... or is that blasphemous ?
Not at all, but get a 'similar' bike (contentious comment) for twice the price unfortunately. I'd be tempted with a proper Triton from the 60s though... Met a chap a few years ago the on the Oxford Distinguished Gentleman's Ride who had a beautiful example but it didn't look comfortable!
here in Canada even finding a Norton dealer is difficult (i haven't managed yet !) so i wasn't aware there was such a large price difference . maybe you could get a demo ride somewhere :)
Captain Rambunctious I had a 75 Norton Commando. Beautiful to look at and ugly to ride. I sold it over 25 years ago and my arms are still vibrating.
hahah ! they may have fixed that in the new version .
that vibration was due to improper adjustment of the frame/engine isolation , and it's the reason people are still finding old Nortons under tarps in garages and barns .
You can get a nice 70s Commando for £8000. And you wont lose money on it (if it doesn't blow up)
Brace yourself for the deluge of tyre-kickers.
Well Paddy, no-one yet...
Captain Rambunctious
It's still early days though.
