I get why they didn’t include HDMI. It’s probably because it’s be redundant because most people tend to have at least a few unused HDMI cables lying around already, but not really for DP or VGA.
That's a great question! So while most phones can be adapted to display on to monitors such as this - the biggest issue is the onboard acceleration that requires an OS like Windows. the monitor needs to be connected via USB to a compatible device to know to use the digitizer - otherwise its just a display. In short: 'no' unless someone has a work around for this.
I have this one myself and since it is multitouch, the palm rejection isn't really an option. I've checked in the settings and there isn't one to deactivate multitouch either.
Mas, rekomendasi dong. Jadi aku mau gambar tapi bingung mau pake monitor ato pc, tp gambarnye langsung tulis tangan di layarnye.. Jadi gambar gk usah pake alat bantu lagi . Bahkan pake keyboard & mouse
When people say "not for gaming", means competitive gaming, right? But I think it would be better the density of IPS colors for single player, when you don't care to have 1MS response (especially strategy and RPG which is mainly the genres I love).
How would the touch technology on this compare to the touch on the xps 9575? Are screens designed for pen as well much more accurate and fast? Will this be fully compatible with OSX? I want it for touch screen music producing.
Mac is not my daily, so I don't have much to offer there (but at the end of this comment I will post a link of a similar Dell touch on Mac OSX, just click go to solution and see if that helps you) The feel and experience will be different on something that uses a digitizer overlay like the XPS (The overlay is like what you see in most phones, a piece of glass that senses touch and tells the device where on the screen you are issuing commands). If you're looking at a full digital mixing board (which I cannot really relate to this either) a larger space may be easier to work with. We've found this monitor to be surprisingly accurate, and Dell does include calibration tools (software) to fine tune it. Mainly what we looked at were simple design space applications to get a feel for accuracy (and it felt very comfortably accurate). Yes, a cheap stylus we used on it actually did very well. A fine point pen stylus with plastic or hard felt tips made for a glass digitizer... I may be worried about harming this monitor using one of those. If you need FINE POINT ACCURACY, this type of touch screen may not be best. By fine point accuracy I consider artist big on tiny details in applications like Photoshop. What software are you using for music? For future referencing I may be interested in demoing something like that on a monitor like this (despite not being musically inclined). Here is that link: Hope it helps (sorry if my response didn't offer much :( ) www.dell.com/community/Monitors/S2240T-Mac-OSX-Touchscreen-Drivers/m-p/4172303#M90436
I've had this monitor for a month and do find that it works great with my DAW. I personally use Presonus Studio One and am able to use the multitouch to the best of it's ability by actually being able to adjust different fader levels all simultaneously.
@@EightSixMatt Thanks for sharing your experience. I was tempted by an acer one because it's 27 inch and 4k. I'm using Bitwig. I believe on OSX it will not with with multitouch though which is disappointing. What kind of technology does this use is if not digitiser. Are you saying it's the same thing as phones and tablets that aren't designed for digital art? Have you had a look at any of the iiyama prolight touch screens?
I prefer DP for many many many reasons - HDMI makes the most sense as its the most widely accepted standard. Your average consumer may not be using DP i.e a laptop, or rig that doesn't have DP (while it's becoming a more common standard these days, it's not the most common). DP is also more for higher resolution and refreshrates - which this monitor really isn't. 1080p @60hz - if it were 1440p or 2160p @ 60-120 DP would be a must...but not in this case. the HDMI 1.4 standard makes the most sense. It was more of a: "Strange they wouldn't go ahead and give you both, or give you the HDMI over the DP"
@@EightSixMatt like, some tabble systens you fund online (like roll20, or foundry) are used only with the mouse, so a toutch screen with good image will be amazing.

Ir works full touch screen function with photoshop and corel draw?
Can you plug a phone in and use it that way???
That's a great question! So while most phones can be adapted to display on to monitors such as this - the biggest issue is the onboard acceleration that requires an OS like Windows. the monitor needs to be connected via USB to a compatible device to know to use the digitizer - otherwise its just a display.
In short: 'no' unless someone has a work around for this.
Hi, this monitor works only with USB or i need to connect the HDMI cable ?
jtrskaos for the touch to work the USB needs to connect from monitor to PC otherwise it’s just a monitor and the touch feature will not work 😊
Thanks, i need a monitor that works with usb 3.0, because my notebook's HDMI port is already occupied.
jtrskaos oh, you still need a means to display it
The USB is solely for it be a touch monitor but for visual you will still need HDMI or DP
@@EightSixMatt what hdmi and usb cable did you buy for this display?
What is the pen will match with this monitor??
Can you tell if his touch would work on a Raspberry?
if connected to a Raspberry Pi, will the touch screen work?
where have you get that pen?
Sir, Which active stylus pen u used in this video?
It’s just a simple felt tipped non-active
I liked the analysis. Does this monitor have palm rejection for pen use?
I have this one myself and since it is multitouch, the palm rejection isn't really an option. I've checked in the settings and there isn't one to deactivate multitouch either.
Thank you.
Are there any Dell stylus that would work with palm rejection on this monitor, maybe the Dell PN579X Premium Pen would work?
Mas, rekomendasi dong. Jadi aku mau gambar tapi bingung mau pake monitor ato pc, tp gambarnye langsung tulis tangan di layarnye.. Jadi gambar gk usah pake alat bantu lagi . Bahkan pake keyboard & mouse
@@EightSixMatt Pak mau nanya dah. Di rumah aku ada tv bekas merk aoyama 17inch. Nah mau ku fungsikan buat monitor alat bantunye ape yg di butuhkan ?
Hey, which pen can you use on that monitor ?
as far as smart pen support I am not personally clear, we just use a cheap ass stylus for the built in digitizer (which is excellent)
@@EightSixMatt What is the modelof the Stylus please
Can its good for photoediting
When people say "not for gaming", means competitive gaming, right? But I think it would be better the density of IPS colors for single player, when you don't care to have 1MS response (especially strategy and RPG which is mainly the genres I love).
Can I use it as Pos system monitor
How would the touch technology on this compare to the touch on the xps 9575? Are screens designed for pen as well much more accurate and fast? Will this be fully compatible with OSX? I want it for touch screen music producing.
Mac is not my daily, so I don't have much to offer there (but at the end of this comment I will post a link of a similar Dell touch on Mac OSX, just click go to solution and see if that helps you)
The feel and experience will be different on something that uses a digitizer overlay like the XPS (The overlay is like what you see in most phones, a piece of glass that senses touch and tells the device where on the screen you are issuing commands).
Here is that link: Hope it helps (sorry if my response didn't offer much :( )

@@ReturnToAnalog any tips for cubase users?
@@nepalesemusic1152 Sorry I've never used Cubase so I couldn't tell ya.
Why would an HDMI cable make the most sense for a FullHD monitor? DisplayPort is just fine and it's also a free and open standard.
It was more of a: "Strange they wouldn't go ahead and give you both, or give you the HDMI over the DP"
does it work with mac?
What for a Pen do you use here?
Sorry for the delay! A capacitive pen from maybe Big Lots if I recall. Nothing fancy at all.
I have 2 for my PC dmx lighting console
And how it works, are you satisfied with that monitor? Maybe Onyx software? :)
@@jvalenta84 yep
Do active pens work with this?
I have not found any active pen that works with this monitor. Honestly, this monitor sucks for any handwriting or drawing.
Best Buy lists this monitor as having a 76Hz refresh rate, I think you just have to go into the settings and change it.
I can confirm this does work at 75Hz.
the screen stays upright (90 degrees)? Thank you.
Concurso Publico yes, it’s adjustable
Thats how people name monitors now. PHT 24 inches 2018.
Does touchscreen work with Linux distro ?
It is compatible with window 7.
plz sure a name model of stylus pen
I get this a lot, and not to be dissappointing, but that stylus was from a 4 pack at Biglots :) Its nothing fancy. Just a capacitive tip stylus.
hey guys can i connect it to any desktop ؟
Which stylus did she use on it??
Something from big lots, nothing fancy, just a generic stylus pen. :) #cheapskates
@@EightSixMatt awesome, thanks for the heads up. Making sure it wasn't anything specific.
I think i will purchase this for my self-built touch screen jukebox :-)
I'm intrigued by your project, share details :D
I’m basically building a jukebox, all you need is a pc, software called album player, quality speakers and a touch screen monitor.

@@EightSixMatt Did you do that?
Noted, touchscreen monitors are meh at best 😊

@@alvaroneto6486 I’m interested in that concept. I would have never thought of that as a use.
@@EightSixMatt like, some tabble systens you fund online (like roll20, or foundry) are used only with the mouse, so a toutch screen with good image will be amazing.
