I remember not being a fan of Optimus' new design. But overtime, it's began to grow on me. Wish Bay didn't butcher every Autobot in sight though. Would've been cool to have a team that was built up from different characters throughout the films. Bumblebee, Ratchet (got to have these guys), Arcee, Sideswipe, Mirage and Hound. This team would've been badass. I know people will probably judge me for not putting in Jazz or Ironhide, but I prefer my picks.

Sounds like the part in the series where Megatron “killed” Bumblebee in the “final”
battle.
This entire scene was very influenced by TFP. All the way from the surrounding mountains and rock formations that look like the surroundings of the Autobots base all the way to Bumblebee having the same black and yellow stealth paint job.

Only Optimus, Hound, Drift, Crosshairs and Bumblebee are still alive. The other ones from the previous films are dead😥
They were the only ones to regroup. As seen in The Last Knight, Topspin (The blue Wrecker from Dark of the Moon) survived and has been hanging out in Cuba. It's possible that any other Autobot with an unconfirmed fate, like Sideswipe, are still alive out there.

I do enjoy what may be an unintentional nod to Transformers Prime (or me not knowing which came first cos I really don't know).
Transformers Prime released in 2013 but in the last season (whenever that aired) Bumblebee reversed his color scheme from yellow primary, black secondary to black primary, yellow secondary.
And this is the first scene we see Bumblebee in Age of Extinction and we see that he has done the same thing here, likely for the same reason he did in TF Prime - to disguise himself against those who know what he looks like without having to change his vehicle form. Allies will overlook the color reversal but hostiles on the lookout may be looking for something too specific and decide he isn't a match for what they're looking for

Michael Bay may suck at storytelling but the man can sure film cars on the road.
I'm a diplomed screenwriter and can freely say that Age of Extinction screenplay is a masterpiece among other action movies. It utilizes all the classic principles and is not too simple having a dual-protagonists scheme and four beautifully itervined character arcs.
The problem is, Michael Bay is more or less a technological genius than a storyteller. That, and alot of these films tend to be some of the most incoherent things ever made.
@@FrazerEddyStorytelling is the job of a screenwriter, not a director. And read at least one book about screenwriting or attend a course about it, if you want to label movies as having "bad storytelling". Don't forget that Age of Extinction was the highest grossing movie of 2014 worldwide. People love good stories, not bad ones.
