Thanks for inviting that young man to sit down for a meal, when we visit relatives in Colombia, we do the same thing. There are so many people going over into Colombia from Venezuela for a better life, and something as simple as buying them a meal really helps them out. There was a period of time where it was the other way around, where struggling Colombians left for a better life in Venezuela. This was never forgotten and Colombians are more than happy to repay the favor.

I visited Bogota and Medellin in October 2019 but spent more time in Medellin, as much as i really love the city, the weather and its people. I left Medellin with heavy heart after witnessing the poverty. I witnessed 16 year olds girls engaging in prostitution at parque Lleras. I know it's easy said than done but I wish there's a sustainable sulotion to this problem. I've sponsonred several Venezuelan families at the start of the pandemic for a few months but i also lost my job at some point because of the restrictions. Thanks for sharing your blessing. I hope more poeple will do the same.

Nice of you to buy the young man a meal, my trip in Mexico I bought a few meals and helped the elderly. It doe's not hurt your wallet to help when someone is in need. I enjoyed the so called bad side of town, but then Los Angeles has just as dangerous and deadly areas. The art is amazing and the buildings beautiful and the people seem nice. I would be on edge and guard in the city, but that is life and travel in these areas of the world. Sad it costs $10 dollars for a woman in the red light district, this is very sad straight up man. the food looks great and all the carts and what you have eaten looked so good. Great to see you buy a meal for that kid. I do exactly the same thing in the Philippines... I never give money to any of the street kids because you don't know where the money goes to which more than likely gets handed over to someone in charge of them.... or the kids use that money to buy drugs in order for them to not get hungry... it's alot better to give them food than money. Whenever I go out to eat, I always tell the waiter to pack up my leftovers (I always order too much food, haha)... so I can give it to the street kids selling flowers or begging for money at the stop lights.
You said that the kid wanted to go back to Venezuela because life is hard in Colombia? I think life in Venezuela would be even harder especially for a kid his age. There's little to no work available in Venezuela which is the main reason why alot of people from Venezuela go to Colombia for an opportunity to find work and send money back to Venezuela for their families. I noticed ALL of the girls selling coffee in Colombia are from Venezuela.

My go-to meal in a small restaurant like that is the fried trout that comes with all that and the soup is usually a fish soup. And of course the juice. Less than $4 USD... can't beat it. My favorite is Delicias De Mi Tierra Pacifica in downtown near the large Exito.

@ Captain Singh Devender Singh. Not so touchy. He couldn't spare a $100 .00 dollars to buy food for the other people that was with that young kid. That show how miserable a human being can be.

Chris, I always like your kindness and compassion providing a meal for the hardworking kid in need. It goes a long way. I would not feel safe where there is prostitution and drugs. That is also a global problem.
