Finally, we’ll discover WHY to visit Venice, a city so unique that you can’t expect.
    WHAT
Well, 118 small islands separated by canals and linked by over 400 bridges.
The first real financial power emerging in the 9th century.
You can call it "La Serenissima", the “Queen of the Adriatic", the "City of Masks”, the "City of Bridges", the "City of Water".
We are speaking probably about the most beautiful city all around the world!
So, if you have a couple of days to visit it and you don’t wanna getting lost, below the most relevant attractions to see and places to taste Italian food.
    Ponte di Rialto
The first treasure you will meet from the train station probably is Ponte di Rialto, the most iconic bridge how the city, which will bring you in San Marco district, the center of Venice.
    Grand Canal
From here you can admire Grand Canal, the main “route” in Venice.
Here, consider to ride a Vaporetto, a water bus, which is a great way - and the least expensive one - to visit the Canal and its palaces.
    St. Mark's Square
From Ponte Rialto move towards St. Mark's Square, where you can admire 4 of the Venice’s major attractions: St. Mark’s Basilica, a Byzantine marvel, Campanile, Torre dell’Orologio, and the Doge’s Palace - a Gothic palace, seat of the government under the Venetian Republic.
After seeing the wonders of St. Mark's Square, you could add these nearby attractions to your trip.
    Bridge of Sighs
The name Bridge of Sighs derives from the fact that it was the last thing convicts saw before their incarceration.
    Scala Contarini del Bovolo
The so-called Snail Staircase must rank as one of the best hidden treasure of Venice.
This gothic staircase was tacked on to the outside the palace in 1499.
    Gallerie dell’Accademia
The best known piece here is the Vitruvian man by Da Vinci, which shows the ideal proportions of man.
Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute
The second most important church in Venice, the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute has a Baroque design and was completed in 1687.
    Walk around the Jewish Ghetto
The word "ghetto" originated in Venice in 1516.
    HOW
How you could easily visit Venice in 1 or 2 days?
If you arrive by train or by bus from the airport, I suggest you follow this daily route: move then to Ponte di Rialto. From there, reach St. Mark's Square. Once visited its attractions, you could go to Bridge of Sighs, Scala Contarini Del Bovolo, Gallerie Dell’accademia, Basilica Di Santa Maria Della Salute, to end walking around the Jewish Ghetto. In the video’s map, each attraction is no more than 20 minutes walk from each other.
If you want visit the islands of Burano, Murano and Torcello, it takes 5 hours and costs 20 euros with the Serevè Agency.
For lunch, I suggest a quick but tasty meal at Enoteca Al Volto.
In the afternoon, you can refresh yourself with an ice cream in Suso Gelatoteca.
For dinner, I suggest Trattoria da'a Marisa.
We stayed at San Gallo Hotel (hotelsangallo.com/en/), in a real good location, 50 teeters from St. Mark's Square.
    WHY
If you are planning to visit Europe, why you should visit Venice?
It will be something like going back to the past, which means you will find exactly the same views seen by Casanova or Napoleon.
Venice is a city on the water, something of unique.
Tasting Italian food, is another good reason!
But the main reason is its beauty: “beauty will save the world”, probably, but for sure this beauty will make you happy!

Grazie Luigi. Era molto interessante. I've been watching your videos for the last couple of years now and I use some of your good tips when I travel in Italy every years because my family live in nearby Slovenia. Since I have 2 little kids, I use some of your tips that are family friendly. I agree with you about "Trattoria dalla Mariza". Excellent restaurant (I've been there many time -> very tasty, uncomplicated and good value for money). Happy new year to you and your family and Keep up the good work ;-)

Another great video. We have been there although we only spent a day there. No way long enough. It was very busy as it was the middle of summer. I did a video, not as good quality as yours. Have a look.
