Acoustic bass has advantages, You can play heavier chords without that muddy sounds you get out of a bass amp, Uh that might be the only advantage really As for people saying it's too quite, let me remind you, AMPLIFICATION WAS INVENTED FOR CROWDS, STOP TURNING YOUR SPEAKERS TO 11 AT HOME, DAMN BRO LOUDER DOESNT MAKE YOU SOUND GOOD. Just like this all caps text. Lmao . Acoustic bass and acoustic guitar, in the living room or on the porch, just two bros chillin with some tunes

I love my Cort acoustic bass guitar. It's my main practise instrument, and I gig with it regularly as well, playing pubs clubs etc. Adding a thumb rest really helps for playability. A good set up really helps, but you can't have the strings too low though, because just like any acoustic guitar, the top swells and shrinks slightly with humidity changes. It sounds excellent with a mic in the studio. For live stuff I use a rubber soundhole plug. I can have it cranked and be standing right infront of my rig without problem...
im just getting into bass with cort accoustic bass guitar. idk does accoustic bass rattles easier than electric ones? i feel like i had to go an extra mile to press the notes or it buzzes a lot. perhaps it's just because im a beginner or something.?
really love the channel but why is there not a short bit without the amp? it's a proper deep body acoustic it would be nice to know what it sounds like without an amp
I bought an acoustic bass guitar two weeks ago. it arrived yesterday and I thought "Lets see what RUclips has got for me" I find your Video and you Play the fucking exact same bass as I buyed
My first bass was a Cort (action). Always wanted an acoustic but hard to justify to my wife! I know that whom ever wins that setup is going to be really happy with it. I never played a Cort that didn't feel good in some way.
Ok, here’s a comment I hope Scott gets to read. I had the same model laying around for a year and I just was not enthused. I took a recent look at your video, and this time really studied it hard. Also I have been adding things to my electric bass sound, which certainly helped me with the Cort SJB5F NS (Natural Finish). I wanted to play through a big amp and really push the volume without feedback. I put an inexpensive Screaching Halt Guitar Soundhole Plug. Like you, I turned all the treble off the Fishman onboard EQ, and on your tip-did the same to the GK 1001RB amp. It’s going through a GK 410 cabinet. But this is the biggest improvement that I call my Eureka moment. The bass sounded quirky still-and here’s what helped it out to fantastic bass sound, and I wouldn’t play it again without this. I cranked the input on MXR Bass Compressor up so the LED’s would show a level. On passive instruments you have to do this with the pedal. Then it went into a Joyo Analogue Delay pedal with the Repeat time very minimal with a hot mix on the Repeat itself just to keep barely noticeable. (I got the delay tip also from your video and like you-using the Cort PHASE control on the Fishman controls really adds). Oh, glory what a sound! Scott, like most-I bought this bass and it just had the squeakiest, uneven sound in the world-and feeding back- after many hours of playing it - I hung it on a a wall and it collected dust. Seeing your video again-challenged me to make it sound GOOD and I accomplished this. I hope this comment helps others. Screaching Halt Guitar Soundhole Plug + all Treble turned down on guitar AND amp, Bass increased + Cort Phase on + MXR Bass Compressor + Joyo Analogue Delay into GK 1001 RB amp and GK410 cab.
jcherw i have the b5 plus i just bought it a month ago... the feel of the bass itself is far better than the basses in same price range... I’m a beginner and for me its more than good... it also has active preamp... i can tell you this... it is one of the best bass in that price range...
I had a Cort copy of a Steinberger way back in the 80's. It was actually a pretty solid bass. Replaced the stock pickups with some DiMarzio's, and it rocked. The acoustic sounds great.
I have an Ibanez PCBE12MH-OPN. Back in the scouts I was named Percebe (BERNACLE in Spanish) by my friends. My bass doesn't have a silly name, is the Ibanez Percebe
i am learning to play on a fender CB-60 Sce.acoustic bass with D'Addario ECB84 extra light flat round strings, cheaper than the cort ,I would recommend this set up for beginners.
Hi Scott! I am an autodidact bassist player and I was wondering which acoustic bass you would advise if I play metal music (Tool essentially). Thanks for advice, regards, MB
yeah, basses like that were certainly around when YOU were 18, Scott. in fact, Cort, the aforementioned Carvin, Martin/Sigma, and a ton of others had entry-level priced basses that were all of pretty good quality.
I really hope I win that amp it'd be really useful for my school band and my cheap bass you've been a great instructor and you've taught me allot, even my band director was impressed by you
Do you ever play a 5 string with a low B instead of the high C that you normally use?
7 лет назад
Even though I missed the deadline for the contest, that's a gorgeous a/e. I play an Ibanez a/e, due to physical limitations and the weight of an electric bass is very demanding for my back and spine injuries.
daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn!!!! I'm a few years too late (or did I enter back then???) but, I've been looking for an acoustic bass now. Carvin made one about 20 years ago and I thought it was great! the acoustics that Carvin was selling back then were made by Cort, so this one is more than likely just as good as the Carvin-branded ones.
Buy it for the acoustic sound, but don't use the horrible sounding piezo electronics. I have this bass, and use a Seymour Duncan humbucking soundhole pickup with no modifications. It sounds warm, fat, and round now. Also, switch to flatwound strings.
I just got myself into a band which has more acoustic types of instruments.. Ukulele, acoustic guitar, cello and some sort of enhanced cajon percussion set.. and vocals as well. I just love my p bass, but it's just somehow too thick for those other instruments. It's coming through the mix too much. And so I started to think should I get acoustic electric bass? Maybe it doesn't have such a strong sound. Tbh I just hate that treble piezo sound.. but is there a reason to get one? Does it sit better in the mix with acoustic instruments? And also it would be nice to have deeper analysis from the history of electric acoustic basses and their world.. which type of ensemble do they fit best? Is there some special requirements for suitable amp? What sort of options there are? How to choose proper one? etc. And how they really sound with band when they sound like they should be? Why did they exist? For what purpose exactly? What's the meaning of life? 😅
@@hereisthelightjockey OMG I remember watching that video 6 years ago when it came out, but was a random youtube recomendation, never followed this channel. And now I was looking for acoustic bass videos becacuse i bought one, and found this video, saw the glove and reminded me of that old one. "It cant be the same guy, right?" and it was! This is crazy
I am considering an acoustic bass. If I gig with it will it get over the top of the drums and E-Guitar or are they for sitting around the campfire etc? I have a Fender Rumble 100v3 I can plug it into.
I have this bass. I love the acoustic sound, but the piezo sounds too raspy to me. Instead, I use a stock Seymour Duncan sound hole humbucking pickup and a Sure SM81 mic at the 14th fret without the on board electronics. It sounds warmer and fatter to me. It's actually a acoustic guitar pickup, but works perfectly with no modifications needed. I might give the sound hole pickup it's own jack on the bass, and make it permanent.
I recently sold all my electrics and so I'm looking at having only acoustic guitars and my Denver DB44 and I usually use a magnetic pickup and NYXL on my acoustic guitars of the same gauge as it came with so the magnetic works.. Question.. Half round 50-105 D'addario be a decent choice? Idk what gauge this has but I hate the bronze rounds I think my bass has a larger bout and 24 frets it barks pretty loud for an acoustic. But I don't like the piezo balance.
I have Ibanez acoustic bass.. the name is pretty complicated too, its OPN-something. i only remember the first 3 letter.. from now on im gonna call my bass Bobby.
Samir Shrestha It's only becomes boring if you allow it. I own an a/e. After warming up, you can't get me out of my studio (aka bedroom) for hours. Practicing odd scales/modes, songs, jamming with a portable electronic drum kit, etc.

True.I don't like em period..I use steel strings on acoustic for more note and less overtones.Records beautifully and much better magnetic pickup response as well.
Hi Scott, you should show the sound of the bass unplugged, just only mic, to hear the real acoustic sound
You can hear it unplugged here:

Exactly ! After all, it IS and acoustic bass. Let's hear the thing unplugged in addition to plugged in.
You wouldn't be able to hear it lol
Eh, miced up you're still not going to hear the true acoustic sound of it
Acoustic bass has advantages,

I was also thinking that may be the only way to get decent sound out of it. Which kinds of bands do you find acoustic electric bass useful?
