THANKYOU Brother!!!! This is exactly the type of video that I needed to solve my binding issues. Just recently bought my first Rovan Baja second hand. I ended up swapping my plate for a genuine HPI one and BAM!!! No more drag or binding.

Awh man I'm glad I don't have to work Sunday I don't wanna miss that epic vid your going post. Thanks for the brake tech tip I have no brakes for my 40gt monster I've been running it without them since I got the 40gt 😂
Wish I knew someone that can work on them like u do I been working on mine and learned a lot but sometimes don’t know if I do it right but so far so good so must be doing something right
You are very welcome brother!! Its people like you who appreciate this stuff is the very reason I like to share my knowledge Ive learned over the years.
@@eastsiderc you’re welcome and it’s entirely deserved. Their is relatively so little around 1/5th scale petrol other than guys blasting back and forth in fields. Real engines bring so much more than just a drive option to RC.
And im about to build a dragster baja too, long chassis wide back, i would like to send you one jeff free of charge so u can inspect it and make a buzzzzz
Hey how did you get that smooth movement? I just brought one baja 5b and I’m absolutely in love. I just brought it back to life after 13 years and it really
Everything must be lined up perfectly and nothing in any kind of a bind and it will roll and work nice n smooth. I have a video that explains the process. Its titled …dont be a drag
Hey man awsome video, love to learn and see it! though i have a question regarding the plate, my plate screws (the 2 screws next to the clutch bell gear) are so darn stuck i just can't get m free and loose.. is it safe to heat it up real good with a heat gun? (no fire) or do you use maybe another method to undo really stuck screws?
Hey bro thanks for watching. You can use a heat gun or just get a soldering iron like a 40watt one from Home Depot and place the pointed tip in the hex head of the screw and hold it there until shes good n hot and break it free ! You must have a billet plate Im assuming and not stock?
@@eastsiderc Thanks for the awsome tip! i havent thought about a soldering iron. I have an integy (i believe thats how to spell it correctly) plate, not stock👍 after investing i came back to edit this post and say it is indeed a billet plate!
Thanks bro! The yellow car is My ALX 50 build. Its on the hook right now because the pipe sucked it had to go back to the builder hes sending a torque pipe it should make some great power then.
No binding here bud didnt you read the title buttery smooth!! I dont use boots they cause drag . This has FLM heavy duty hardened steel dog bones they move very free! I take great care in my work! Your not watching and idiot here!
I took my baja apart and when i took the brakes apart i have a little plastic ring and a half circle spacer that fell out from somewhere. Can you tell me where they go?
The plastic ring goes around the brake hex and the little half moon rubber spacer goes in the gear ⚙️ plate up near the brakes. You can always check the hpi baja manual online too . Thanks for watching bro
Hey EastSide RC i just installed a Zenoah 32cc and a RovanSports CNC gearbox complete 2nd gen. when i came to the installation of the carrier kit just as you showed it did not fit. What type of carrier kit will fit this setup !!! i am thinking of buying the ROVANSPORTSCNC FAST ON-OFF CLUTCH BELL CARRIER KITS do you think this will fit, it seems like a nice solution, greetings from Søren.
Hey buddy you need two of this part right here RV66073 . I usually run one of these on the back side of the brake hex but you can add two of those plastic rings on the hex to help hold the three brake discs together. Hope you are enjoying your weekend! ⛽️🤝
@@eastsiderc i was looking on there just for price of couple things its about same price for sbk shocks off ebay just gota build them witch isnt a problem just debating what route i want to go
I have not bro! My irc diff fit perfectly inside the Turtle trans. Which part are you having it hard to fit into ? The back if the trans or the front of the case?
@@eastsiderc it will not fit in either, the bearings stick out just enough not to allow it to drop in. I thought it was just the roven diff, but when the irc diff did the same. I’m thinking to could be the measurements of the case are off
so.. after replacing my upgraded diff that broke after 2 runs.. my baja started eating disc brakes, they keep getting stuck somehow, so bad they bend .. and im starting to run out of ideas.. the gearplate (made in china) fits like hot garbage, but it worked before.. idk what to do anymore -.- i keep throwing money at this thing and it still constantly makes problems every frickin' run
Have taken the whole car apart and put it back together? Sometimes the gear plate can be tricky. Dont give up. You can try the billet clutch carrier set up from fearless rc . Part number RV852282 . That works well for me. Also you can use a little plastic washer on the back side of the brake discs to help guide them truer. Also make sure the screw that holds the brake hex is fully seated into the laysbaft. That can come loose and cause problems. Another issue is the short 6mm screw that is in the separate mount on the clutch side can back out if not full lock tightened and that will cause major brake problems. You can check that stuff buddy. Im sorry to hear your having a headache. I have many tech vids I hope they can help
@@eastsiderc well, basically yes :/ the whole backend, i might have made a mistake the first time i put it together. (put the pads upside down in there) since then i warped my disc brakes .. i ordered a new set, do you think a small bend in the disc can cause a full lock up ? they keep spreading apart (on the bottom) and then it locks up. I take it for a no brake ride later .. the plastic washer part sounds good, i will try that because it seems like thats exactly the problem, the guidance of the disc's. checked all the screws, they're fully in there and tight. Thanks mate, i really appreciate the help .. im new to fifth scale, roughly half a year in :) cheers!
works good on a stock plastic baja 5b but if you go all aluminum that single brake sucks because the vehicle gets way to heavy. . i put 4 wheel hydraulic on mine. they work real good. they all lock up fast
