I was diagnosed 2/11/2022 with 3B colorectal cancer. Surgery and 18 rounds of chemo later, I’m doing ok. My symptom was a side stitch on the right although the tumor was on the left in the sigmoid colon. Three colonoscopies have been 0 polyps. Colon cancer takes on average 10 to 12 years to develop. Had I listened to my doctor and started getting my screenings at 45, I probably wouldn’t be in this situation. My advice, get your colonoscopy!
Thank you sweetheart ♥️ I'm familiar with this cancer. Its in my family unfortunately. No symptoms. I had precancerous polyps every colonoscopy. Happy to say my last one, i have Zero! Thank you for all you do Julie. Don't always comment, but always watching 😊🤗
I lost my husband to colon cancer on Nov. 10, 2024, He had blood in his stool but ignored it. He was 74. He had is first colonoscopy Feb.14, 2024 that's when the Dr. said I found a 50 mm mass. It was cancer. He hat a CT scan and it had spread to the lymph nodes and liver. He had a right hemicolectomy June 6, 2024. He had another CT scan the end of July 2024 and the Dr. said you have 3-6moths to live. He smoked for 60yrs. He did not want chemo and was in no pain. I took care of him until his last breath. I miss him.
I am so very sorry. That had to be beyond difficult/horrible! But at least he passed with your love & compassion to his last breath. It blows my mind just how fast cancer can take a life & WHY:if God created life(us),why did he create something so devastating(cancer)? I've always been at a loss with that question. But you are a beautiful person, as was(is) your husband. Your love is what made your husband's life peaceful🙏🏽 My deepest condolences ❣️ 🫂 GOD BLESS YOU 🕊️☦️
But the VA doesn’t acknowledge this! My husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer and only lived 16 months. He was definitely around Agent Orange in Vietnam!
I was stunned when I was diagnosed stage 3 colon cancer. I had massive bruises on my legs no explanation why. My team of Drs were awesome. I'm 6 years past with no reoccurring. cancer.
I grew up in the same town as James, we were a year apart in school and our families went to the same church. So glad he’s speaking out about this. Great video!❤
For those of you who, like me, have IBS where your bowel habits are constantly changing & you regularly experience pain or discomfort, make sure you attend your bowel screening appointments whenever you're invited. This may be the only way you can find out early on if you have bowel or colorectal cancer. Here in the UK, this is called the FIT test & is a stool sample test. And if you're then invited for a colonoscopy, please don't panic. Doctors have to be cautious & a secondary screening doesn't automatically mean you definitely have cancer. Yes, you may have, but it's not a given. It's there to catch potential problems as early as possible, not because you definitely have the disease. It may even be precancerous polyps that can be removed before they cause serious trouble.
I had none of the "usual" symptoms of colorectal cancer. By the time I was diagnosed after a routine age 50 colonoscopy I was at STAGE III. When I looked back at what had been going on with me I identified two strange changes. I had extreme urinary urgency and terrible night sweats. No weight loss. No abdominal pain. Just those two issues. BTW, I had a negative stool test, but insisted on a colonoscopy. I had twelve rounds of chemo which lasted 3 days each and 12 years later i'm perfectly healthy. People need to know that a cancer diagnosis is not a death sentence by any means. Just get checked. I appreciate your information immensely. Thank you so.much Julie.
An old boss of mine, a pediatric cardiologist, once told me, when i asked him if i should be concerned about some symptoms .. He said always ask yourself, these 3 questions; 1. Is it new. 2. Is it persistent? and 3. Is it concerning? He said if even one or 2 are yes, then by all means, talk to your doctor!! And really, he said, number 3 is often the MOST IMPORTANT.. if YOU are concerned, NEVER hesitate to consult your physician!
@@hospicenursejulieThank you, by the way, you have really helped me to be less afraidof death and dying... and to me, and I am sure many others.. that is truly priceless! ❤
My then 50 year old husband had most of these but kept putting off going to the doctor. I finally made an appointment for him, 6 weeks later they removed a 4cm tumor. Miraculously, he had no metastasis and is now 10 years cancer free.
So happy to see this video, thank you. Drs. are vague and almost appear to be indifferent. The patient must be proactive. Again, thank you. Subscribed!❤ .
Thank you Julie! Great video! At some point can you tell us the first symptoms of pancreatic cancer? I hear it's difficult to detect until it's too late. Thank you! ❤
Jaundice and unexplained drastic weight loss were the symptoms I noticed with my great uncle. A month later, he had to have his food pureed for him to consume it. Within weeks, he was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreas cancer. He died at just 68, two months post diagnosis. In most cases, pancreas cancer has no noticeable early symptoms because the symptoms can be attributed to other illnesses or conditions. Look up Gloria Carter Spann's statement after she received this diagnosis. Hers was found during a routine checkup, and she reported feeling no symptoms beforehand.
My doctor recommended colinoscopy due to previous polyps , but Medicare denied payment! I just had a brother, age 57 diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. Medicare will have to be fought to approve a colonoscopy for me in 2 years, even with family history. It's criminal to have this info and not be able to get health care.
I was 62 when I requested my first colonoscopy. I couldn't believe they started to deny me. I had had one fit test that they said was fine but in the fine print they said it could be inaccurate. When they denied me I asked them at what age should I get a colonoscopy for the first time? It's all over the news to start at 45. They make the poor wait for it to get to a higher stage first I guess. I just asked my doctor to put it in my chart that I asked for a colonoscopy and she (insert her name) denied it. That way I can sue. Needless to say she made it happen. It's crazy what we have to do to get a routine test that they say we need much earlier.
Diagnosed in 2007, age 44, with a very low rectal cancer. Symptoms 1. exhaustion 2. night sweats 3. poop colour changed to creamy white 4. blood on stool 5. spraying toilet bowl with blood 6. excruciatingly painful to poop Thankfully I was diagnosed early and was able to be cured by surgery alone (rectum removal), so I had no chemo or radiation treatment. I do have a permanent colostomy now, but that's no biggie compared to the fact that I'm alive and got to see my kids grow to adulthood. :) I've taken part in 2 different genetic screenings and of course they found I have Lynch Syndrome.
Of course, all my scans, multiple surgeries, blood tests, and more scans every year for the rest of my life cost me nothing. The Government reimburses my travel expenses and subsidises my motel accommodation when I come to the big city hospital. (I live a 6hr drive away) Got to love socialised medicine.
Thanks. I appreciate the Detail. There are lots of us that have been through radiation therapy for Prostate Cancer. Some people might benefit from a little perspective on what to expect. In my case about FIVE FULL MONTHS Afterward I began experiencing both "Sluggish Bowel" And loss of control of the Bladder... The bladder has improved a lot, but the difference in the Sluggish system has NOT. It's almost comical how this has delayed the darned Colo-guard sample. It's more like "RELUCTANT Bowel..." Otherwise, life is pretty darned good. I would bet a lot of guys will agree, Once you've gone thru the biopsy procedure for prostate cancer, there's not too many things that will phase you~ < =ºÞ Except for helping your spouse or kid go through some unpleasant procedure...
Thank you ssssooooo much for mentioning this!! This is not my expertise- but maybe I should have oncology nurses and doctors on the channel!! 💕💕💕💕. That could be helpful!
I removed my gallblatter. The CT showed no signs of cancer. In only 2-3 years from there a huge tumor developed in my colon. It was an aggressive braf mutation. It caught me off guard. Because of my age I suffered for weeks before the hospital was willing to help me. They removed the tumor, but it spread rapidly, and now I’m lying at the hospital unable to eat.
My husband passed from bile duct cancer 5 years ago at age 61. he started losing weight and eventually his skin turned jaundiced or yellow. He went through chemo and some radiation and lived approximately 1 year after diagnosis.
My husband died today of colon cancer...if he had a colonoscopy when he should have, he would still be here. Get your scopes so docs can catch it early. He was only 58
I'm taking chemo pills to hopefully reduce risk of breast cancer recurrence, and it literally causes every single symptom you mentioned above. No worries; it's not unheard of and I did have a colonoscopy recently. I do have meds to counteract constipation and diarrhea as well as nausea but it's roller coaster.
I've had constant constipation for the past 30 years . I was on pain meds that would cause severe constipation - I wouldn't have a bowel movement for a week at a time - Got myself off the medication started taking probiotics and I now go everyday- every other day . ( I will have the occasional 3 day bout )
Just had a colonocopy. No cancer. Yay! ❤ Thanks to carnivore! No plants, no fiber as they are contraindicated and carbs are not essential. My body loves this way of living.
My mom died of colon cancer in 1986. I'm now 70, and I've had many colonoscopies. I'll gladly drink that prep if I can prevent having to go through what my mom went through when she passed. I cried on my 70th birthday because I am the youngest of the 3 females in my family. I realized that I had defied the odds and lived longer than my mom, and both of my grandmothers.
Had all...pain..ouch that hurts pain...loss of weight...stool loose/lighter...it was ulcerative colitis. That was a win?! Could have been cancer. Yes..a win. 'See your doctor' It saves your life. UC is chronic. It comes and goes....but it's not cancer.
Im having more,no weight loss. But have blood in my stool. I get nauseous, feel like i want to throw up,lots of gas, leakage, fatigue. No narrow stool but look like the shape of an egg,lol
I have had IBS for years, some of the symptoms you described I have bc of this! Also,I have always been constipated since a toddler, two years ago after a disimpaction I started moving my bowels almost everyday but I did develop a hemorrhoid(I saw it)so that accounted for the occasional bright blood spots!I can't get a regular colonoscopy bc I am a hemophilic! So what are the suggestions for me?
I can't give medical advice- I would talk to a trusted doctor 🥰❤️- I would not seek medical advice from a nurse on the internet speaking generally ❤️❤️
