Here's what some icons have to say about the book!!!
Ice-T: "Respect to Soren Baker for documenting the history of gangster rap in these pages. Some hate it. Some love it. But you can’t deny its brutal, hardcore honesty."
The D.O.C.: "History has so often been written by the victors, that you very rarely ever get the real story behind anything. So it’s really important to hear from the people that were there, which is exactly what Soren Baker shares in this book. He writes about it and he’s honest about it."
Xzibit: "Hip-hop changed the world. Gangster rap changed the narrative, and then changed the world again. Soren Baker has been a very integral part of documenting hip-hop on the West Coast for as long as I can remember. I don’t think anybody is more qualified to write this book."
Leslie “Big Lez” Segar: "Soren Baker has changed the perspective of gangster rap by putting his pen to paper. He has given hip-hop power, proven its potential, and made non-believers contemplate all of its possibilities. The truth in his writing leaves no stone unturned, something he's done again with The History of Gangster Rap. Soren doesn’t just champion hip-hop. He also reveals its flaws and its truths."

I saw Shock G/DU perform in person at X-Fest Summer of 2007 Modesto, Ca. I couldn't believe my eyes because I was a fan since 1989/90..I had a big smile on my face the whole show and when Shock looked at me the smile got bigger... hope he didn't think I was smiling in that other way lol just excited they were there...... peace

hey soran, i watched some of the videos you put together and all i can say Its dope and it shows that you appreciate hip hop music as much as I do. and thanks for uploading this video dedicated to Shock G who just passed away too soon and it happen too quickly like Woah wtf? same with black rob and DMX. Its way overwhelming, my head can't handle three people passed away from last week to this week. Its crazy. I grew up listening to hip hop from 1986 -traveling back and forth going to new york for vacation. and 89 was just a beginning, went to montreal and my uncle had a record shop so i used his djing fooling around and ended up becoming a dj. still djing currently. Anyhow Im looking forward of seeing of your videos in the near future.

I had bought the set packets cassette, because of the humpty dance. But once I got home and listened to the whole album, I was blown aways. I was like all these songs are radio play .. of course the sensors would not allow it. But the album was so different, the beats the rhymes, and like you say, different characters...MC BLOW FISH... to this day one of my favorites. I had a neighbor that had his Suzuki samuri hooked up, he had a bad ass so d system..two 15z were in place of the back seat, and we would cruise it in Santa Ana, bumping DOWATCHULIKE... best memories...

You couldn't hear me with binocularrrrs.
