- Hi Viewers,
Today, you will come to know the process of Calculation of Area of the polygon features in QGIS. Calculations can be done on ellipsoid in any CRS.
The units of the areas will be calculated in the units of the projection.
Steps to follow:
1. Add vector layer to map canvas.
2. Set the required units (square meters) at projection properties.
3. To open attribute table, right click and select attribute table.
4. Go to field calculator, then give field name under create a new field option, and set field type as decimal number, and then find the geometry, expand it, then double click '$area'. Then click ok.
5. Find the result in the area field.
Very simple work sir. It seems very simple than arcgis.
Calculating geometry is almost same in both. Thank you for comment. Please follow the channel
Good video for the beginners to calculate the geometry using QGIS.
Thank you Paresh ji. Keep follow for updates
Video process is very good to understand.
Thank you. Please follow for updates.
Very nice information. Keep posting more videos using QGIS sir.
Ok friend. Thank you
Great job!!
Thank you
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Please follow the channel for updates!!
Very is to understand. Simple than process of ArcMAP.
Thank you for comment. Please follow the channel for updates.
Simple and short. Can you show me the process of calculation of length if possible. Thanks a lot for showing the process using QGIS.
Priya, same way you can calculate length of line features instead of area. Soon I will update.
I think Qgis is some what related with ArcGIS sir
QGIS is open source GIS software. You can perform anything here also.
Ok sir
Thank you for the info. Small doubt, is it require to change projection system while calculating the area? Please help me.
No need to change projection. As mentioned in video, simply change units and do the process.
How do you do this in PyQGis?
Hi,
Thank you for comment.
Area can be added using PyQGIS.
