- I filmed this as i saw it with an iPhone camera. This footage is not available to use anywhere without written permission by me, the filmer.

Working from Auckland to the far north and all in-between.
Filmed with the DJI Mavic Air 2, Sony A6600 on a DJI RSC2 gimbal and photos with the trusty Canon 5DMK3.

Rabbits are very territorial and very aggressive with each other but when it comes to defend themselves from little predators like a stoat they start running and screaming when they are being chased

What would you do if a wolverine started biting at ya ankles no matter how hard you hit it? I mean its only a 30lb animal on average. Human beings are being terrized by mice on a regular basis.

rabbit is very hidden if it doesn't move. stoat ran past him 2x when was just sitting stil.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw that. He should have dipped out after the first time. That Rabbit really didn't care whether he lived or died.

stoat's biggest relative are wolverines and they grows up to the size of a large dog. Apparently they hunts moose and even has a record of killing a polar bear.

I saw another video that talked about a very small member of the weasel family. It is so ravenous that they said that, if it weighed 60 lbs instead of 6 oz, there would be no other land animals left.
Rabbits especially the bunny types are natures grocery store for most predators since they give up so easily. Hares on the other hand will put up a good fight.

To save energy. The rabbit isn't capable to keep running for extended periods
@@RennieAsh maybe thats the difference in i telligence between animals and people. The rabbitt didnt need to run more. It could't have took its time. A human is capable of knowing applying moderate energy(walking) before a situation becomes dire and requires lots of energy saves energy in the long run

Do Minks hunt Stoats?
No, minks don't hunt stoats, but both are carnivorous mammals in the same family (mustelid family). Minks are larger and heavier than stoats, but They hunt a variety of prey, including small mammals, fish, birds, and their eggs. Stoats are are preyed upon by other predators such as foxes, domestic cats, (and wild cats) owls, and hawks(other types of birds of prey)

A rabbit has razor sharp front teeth and could hurt the stoat just as much as the stoat can bite the rabbit. Also a rabbit is bigger and there are a lot more rabbits than soats. If only they d know.

I stopped to get the gun. We get paid for stoats dead or alive here as they are a massive pest to the native animals. When I got back the rabbit was dead and the stoat gone.

Great footage and very rare to see a wolverine hunting in the wild. If you got a better camera and made better footage you probably could have made some good money.

I hate stoats they'rethe dirtiest animals ever my sister's father in law as a farmer was putting his bunnies in a small and safety house before starting his job he checks these cute bunnies everyday he finds a dead baby bunny he discovered that soats are the reason .
My favorite part is when the sloat is breaking into the skull and eating the brain while its still alive.

@@eightythreephoto Let be honest here. Everyone saw the title and was rooting for the stoat. Only a few would turn it off. The rest are dark and can imagine the crunch of the skull. As the rabbit squeals, you can't help to want to watch it till the end. You know its natural selection. You know when you see a fight between a predator and prey there will be death and sometimes blood. The only thing dark here is knowing the prey needs help to escape. All one can do is watch helpless as it dies. In this case being eaten alive.
that's not what happens, it paralyses the prey with a bite to the neck and then prey suffocates
