For those who are well meaning ,but misguided and think foxes are cat killers, here is some enlightenment on the subject:

I love how almost every animal on the face of the planet seems to be intimidated by the domestic cat.
Was thinking the same thing.
It's probably because the domestic cat is really good at bluffing and has had fear bred out of it to an extent. Animals tend to be unsure what to do if the thing they've been threatening doesn't back down, that's the kind of thing you get from mustelids like wolverines. And they sometimes they run in fear even though realistically they could wreck the thing threatening them.

In the wild, even a simple bite can be infected and result in death. Just because a predator knows it can win a fight doesn't mean it will always decide to fight. Animals always take the easier and safer option when it has them. It's a survival instinct.
Exactly. In a fight to the death, the fox is probably coming out on top. But it would likely get severely wounded. And that wound could kill it in the long run. That's why fights to the death don't happen very often between two predators. Usually the one more willing to fight/less afraid scares the other one away. Most predator-predator interactions are just an elaborate game of chicken.

@@husamalhalal4430 cat was done eating. It didn’t scamper or flee in fear or anything. Animals don’t fight for the sake of it if they can avoid it. The cat stood its ground while it ate and once it was done there was no more reason to be defensive once it was full so it left.

I love how chill the fox is, just strolling up like, "hey, little buddy, whatcha got there?"
How many of you realised it was two different foxes, the one at the end was a totally different fox, he beat the soft one up and that's why the cat cleared the area so quick, he knew he wasn't gonna be able to intimidate this one.
It looked like the one at the end might have had blood on the right side of the face. The other had a very clean white jawline.

Years ago I had a German Shepard, he was a nice dog a softy, my pet rat used to snuggle up with him. One day we were walking down the road, he wasn’t on a lead because he didn’t need one, he saw a cat and ran up to it thinking he would chase it, but the cat just stood there and when my dog got close he arched his back and spat, my dog stopped so fast his back legs went up and he did a hand stand! The cat looked at him for a second and nonchalantly strolled off. My dog looked at me looked at the cat didn’t know what to do!
Foxes are really quiet creatures. I had two sitting next to me and was totally unaware. They sound like birds instead of dogs. Once they realized I noticed them, they ran off.

I live in a neighbourhood that is often visited by wild animals like coyotes and such. We have a common rule to keep pets indoors after dark because...well...situations like in this vid don't happen often, and it usually ends up with one very sad pet owner.
Seeing this cat acting cool is very empowering to you all I'm sure, but be smart, keep your pets inside should your town have my kind of problem. I didn't believe it until I saw a clip on reddit of a courgar or something jumped over an approximate 2 meter gate, snatched a dog and booked out in less than 10 seconds at night. Now I lock my dogs indoors after dark, I do not want that happening to my pets.

I like how the cat looked toward the house after the fox took some food, like it was expecting the hoomans to do something about it.
We think cats are cuddly and cute pets but the fox recognises another predator when it sees one. Feral cats (cats gone wild) are some of the toughest creatures out there and are absolutely fearless in a fight. I have seen dogs tangle with cats. The dogs change their mind real quick. A fox is basically a wild dog.

The hiss is not the dangerous part of the interaction, nor what you should flinch at.
Its like barking dogs, the hiss is a warning, so thats when he retracted a hissing cat would probably never actually attack you if you did back off when it hisses, its all about self-defence. otherwise he was always scared of a possible attack when they started snatching pieces that were a little too close for comfort
My cats are scared of chicken, even a smaller breed than them, when they're trying to steal their food.

@@pannkaka5138 It's highly unlikely a fox will try to fight a cat. It's a high risk low reward fight for them since adult cats are almost the same size while being ferocious fighters. Kittens, however, may indeed fall prey to foxes

Is that what you saw? Wow, that is truly bewildering. I was a cat owner many times (not currently); they are FAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR from "unpredictable". No animal is really "unpredictable" and most Human Beings are greatly predictable even moreso. Actually, Felines are just territorial and ultra defensive 🐈. I have my witnessed my first pet cat jump off a porch to confront a stray dog before. I got scratched in the process and found out what cat scratch fever actually was
They aren't unpredictable at all, they're just aggressively violent. It's not their fault, it's their nature. Smaller cats have to be more aggressive to protect themselves, bigger ones are more dangerous but very calm.

A cat could be in chill mode one second and the next in fight mode. Or it could just lay next to you for a good few hours and be all good. To me that’s unpredictable.
This interaction isn't all that surprising. These other animals are well aware of the cats have claws and are not willing to risk having their eyes gouged out. Domestic cats make for a very formidable opponent.
