Chess never lose its freshness, a good game is a good game whenever it was played. These were talented international players, thank you Agad for presenting their masterpieces!
@agadmator Agad give us Vishy saga, my life is so boring around these holidays that watching these ancient history will motivate me only after 4th beer. :) it's a joke, i respect whatever u choose to post.
As a Brits it's more Due-Her-St the De-worst. Implying that pronounciation was he was referred to by the more normal spelling of that name. There was a famous chain of Butchers with the Dewhurst name notable for their tax avoidance when I grew up. "his birth name was actually Fred Dewhirst Yates. However, throughout his chess career he was known as Frederick Dewhurst Yates"
Amazing. Very interestingly, the pre-engine games are more impressive to me as a chess novice, because I can understand and spot the great thinking capabilities.
Resign with a z, nice #suggestion show Vassily and Daniel’s game with a backstory of “up to this point in his life”. I guess I kinda understand the emotional outburst. Chess is heart ripping! But it was prolonged and I don’t really understand that. Imagine playing a game as the other players and a guy is crying like a baby over there. Crazy!
Great vid as usual Agadmator. I know you thirst for knowledge, so I think you should know Dewhirst is properly pronounced " Dyoo - hirst..." The Dew part refers to the morning's condensation on the grass.
You mentioned Fred's middle name in the last video -- allow me to help, @agadmator. It would be pronounced "DEW-hirst," rhymes with "blue thirst." A very unusual case in English of a letter "h" following the letter "w" but forming a separate consonant (unlike "white" or "when").
Thanks for the breakdown! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
“Suggestion Bagirov vs Gufeld 1973. Frankly it is a crime against chess that you haven’t showed it, depriving so many people of such beauty. It was labelled the “Mona Lisa” game.
De-whirst... Lol!^ :D I believe it is "Dew-hirst"... :) If it were "De-whirst"... It^ may be spelled like this---> "DeWhirst" Where there is a capital letter after the "De"... :)
Agad, we need to talk about Chucky... Chucky, the poet! in a world full of business men... I'm sure you've been struggling to find a way into this topic... Maybe we can see Chucky-Kasparov once again? I think it's about time... #suggestion
Just an FYI - most lawyers are not referred to as doctors. They have a juris-doctorate (JD) but aren't referred to as, for example, Mr. Smith JD. Sometimes, they are referred to as Mr. Smith, esquire. Bottom line - lawyers are weird.
Seems that with his sharp grasp of complex tactics, Yates was to Alekhine and Capablanca what Nakamura is to Gukesh and Carlsen -- so close, yet *not quite there.*
IIRC it is debatable whether Alekhine actually got a law degree. There aren’t many great amateurs after the era of Dr Vidmar: Euwe was a contemporary; subsequently Reshevsky, Fine, Najdorf, Panno, Lombardy, and Hübner come to mind. Taimanov might also qualify, but I would suggest he had dual careers in chess and as a concert pianist (mostly with Bruk as a duo) due to the level of support he received from the Soviets. This is as opposed to Grigory Levenfish, who I would call a great amateur because he was entirely deprived of support despite his two Soviet Championships and his equal score with Botvinnik.
Being a doctor of law and practising law is two different things. There are a lot of scientists who never practised law. That does not make their degree less respectable
20:53 this is why long time formats will always be the best in chess. You won't ever get this in rapid because nobody can spare the time to calculate it.
I'm almost 7 feet tall, and have always been tall … and the amount of people who ask 'Ah, you play basketball?" over the course of a lifetime is … kind of odd. You don't look at short people and go, "so, you're gonna be a horse jockey?" tall people are just … people who are tall, and usually bump into a lot of hanging doorways and low ceiling fans. And everybody wants you to take their pictures when you go to a concert. kind of annoying tbh
His name is pronounced "do-herst". Or "do-werst". But it does start with a "do" sound. I knew someone with this name and that is how they pronounced it. I suppose other people could pronounce it differently but that was how I knew it.
Great game it seems it was unfortunate for Vidmar he’s never seen an Agadmator video or he would’ve known b4 is the best move to make . Thanks for all the info that came with the game Antonio fantastic . I thought of that pause the video move !! Just wasn’t sure exactly what it achieved but sometimes the pause the video move is some outrageous move no one thinks of . Great game Thanks again Have a great day 😊♟️‼️

Exactly.. Candidates 1959 and WC 1960 were like the best TV shows, packed with cliffhangers, and twists.
Especially realizing that they contributed so much knowledge in chess that brings amazing chess games nowadays.
I love more saga
One of my best saga on this channel is the Bobby Fischer's saga,, watch this and you will really enjoy it
Thx for saving gems from being forgotten!❤
been following your channel for 5 years. This is for sure one of the most interesting and enjoyable games that I have watched since I began. Bravo!!!
Time traveler: what year?
Soldier: war times
Time traveler: WWI or WWII?
Soldier: 😮
Before we had the good sense to number them.
If the time traveler can't figure out which war it is just by looking around, maybe he should stay out of the TARDIS.

Now I have quite the game to share with my friends at the bar and library.
Although, if this was 1930, that "bar" would be a speakeasy.
Thanks for this great content as always.
Wow! I was thinking of suggesting to you to make a video about this game.

Thank you for big brain knowledge about my hometown. Sad that Carlsbad is not a world class chess powerhouse anymore.
This game is insane Thank You for analysing it.
Amazing !!!!❤🎉
Looove your intro stories ❤
Amazing. Very interestingly, the pre-engine games are more impressive to me as a chess novice, because I can understand and spot the great thinking capabilities.

Astonishing game. Unbelievable
Now, he says "Aye gyan gyan" every chance he gets... Still... much love to the, Sir, Agad... giggle

Great vid as usual Agadmator. I know you thirst for knowledge, so I think you should know Dewhirst is properly pronounced " Dyoo - hirst..." The Dew part refers to the morning's condensation on the grass.
The dew means wooded (covered in trees) and hirst = hill.

Proudest moment of the day is finding the key move 😂

18:08 I thought the move was ...Ne3, forking the rooks. If Qxe3 gxf5.
Could someone please tell me why this is wrong?
At 11:43, Does Black have Nxc3 in the position, winning a pawn? (Black played Rda8)
Nvm the rook is hanging. My stupid brain had to go into analysis board to find it

He got it in 1925 in Sorbonne.
His doctoral thesis was about the Chinese prison system
Every time I pause the video
I find a move
My move is on the board
Agadmator : no it is completely lost there is no hope that's not how you play chess
This one hurt my tiny brain... wow, are you SURE there were no computers in 1930??
back then, true gentlemens avoided Queen trades because they played for a win, now people agree to a draw after a couple of piece exchanges...

London 1851
Hastings 1895
Nottingham 1936
Zürich 1953 3:27

That's not Milan Vidmar, that's Michael Scott with a mustache.

Oh it was around well before Alekhine - For instance, Philidor was well known for his blindfold feats.
