I'm intrigued..Do you think this would work for baking in recipes that call for butter or vegan butter? Also, do I have to keep it in the fridge or the freezer? How soon does it go bad?
I made a mistake when making this-I read it as 2Tbsp vinegar instead of 2tsp. It’s REALLY tangy and sharp, yet it still tastes better than the vegan butter I was buying. I’m looking forward to trying it the correct way once I am able to get more coconut oil from the store. Thank you for sharing.

@@GourmetVegetarianKitchen thanks for your answer! Meanwhile i made this vegan butter and it was really nice. But i noticed one strange thing. At the bottom of the jar, there was some liquid. How did that come about?
Hi there! Can I store it into the fridge or it must be stored in the freezer? I just made the recipe swapping the soy milk for cashew milk, and the taste is incredible ... if someone can help me out on the storagewise I would appreciate 😉🙏🏻
Hi mam. I really want to transition to full veganism as currently I still consume dairy but no other animal products...lately my body hasn't reacting well to soy can i sub it put with another plant based milk eg almond/ cashew?
Yes I do understand, and a number of people have commented on this option and a few have even tried out other milks, with at least one report of success for almond milk. Soy has a lot of protein so it works very well, but I was glad to hear some success with other milks too. I need to do some experimenting myself to figure it out for sure, and I look forward to hearing how it goes.
Made this today and the taste is absolutely amazing, never was a big margarine fan but I might become one of this recipe! The only changes I made were using an omega-3 oil mix instead of the avocado oil and halving the amount of nutritional yeast. Didn’t use refined coconut oil either, I am honestly surprised at how good such a simple recipe came out to be! Thanks so much for the video :) (oh and, mine didn’t need to be put in the freezer to set, a few hours in the fridge were enough)
I've found its best when the soy milk curdles well. Almond milk doesn't really curdle in acid, so it might not work as well. If you try it, let me know! Would love to know how it turns out
I let the soy milk, apple cider vinegar and salt curdle for the 10min. Melted the coconut oil. The only thing I added was a wee bit of turmeric for color. I blended and mine for almost 2min (in a vitamix) and it looked a little separated.... almost clumpy. I put it in the freezer so we'll see how it works after freezing. Did anyone else notice a clumpy look to it before freezing?
I do post the complete recipe for each video on my blog and for this one that is here: gourmetvegetariankitchen.com/2018/03/30/vegan-butter-simple-ingredients/ I am going to fix the description so that is clearer here. Thank you very much for appreciating it!
Love this video. It's informative, has no frills, its simple, it's peaceful, and it's classic. Just perfect for someone like me who wants the recipe, simple and plain. Love this!
I'm thinking does it have to be done with soy milk? Can't I use peanut milk or some other nut milk? And can I just use more olive oil instead of avocado oil?
I have never done it with other kinds of milk, but hear that almond milk works well. You can definitely use more olive oil than to replace the avocado oil, but the taste might be slightly different.
Just realized how wound up I was, while coming back down watching another one of your videos... Clicked on this one to get some more healing in, plus of course learning the recipe :) Changed the whole direction of my day~~~~~~~~ Thanks for expressing your vibe so well
Just started my journey on not eating meat and this video was extremely helpful. Like some that commented I make attempts to stay away from soy but will try your recipe with home almond milk in stead. Keep up the great work from a new subscriber.
Thank you very much and good luck on your journey without meat--I have been very happy I was able to transition away from meat myself too. I would like to experiment with making vegan butter with other milks too--please let me know if you find any great results!
How did the alternate milk work out? I've never had success with alternate milk when making mayonnaise, only soy milk works. So I'd love to know if other milks work here.
Wonderful recipe, and so well presented, can't wait to try! Is there an alternative to nutritional yeast? It's not very easy to get where I am, and I was wondering if the recipe can still hold good without, or with a substitute.
I've had some reports of success with almond milk, but soy has has so much protein that it works really well. I'm afraid rice or oat milk may not work so well, but please let me know if you try it this way and have success.
No lecithin needed? I’m so glad... I have tried making vegan butter with both liquid and powdered lecithin and it always tastes awful.... this recipe looks great
Try a teaspoon of lemon juice or maybe half teaspoon for added flavor. I've tried different vegan butter recipes. One with the Apple cider vinegar with added lemon juice actually tasted some better. I like your recipe. Avocado oil is very oily and I like it, but you get it on your fingers..its a little harder to wash off than other cooking oils. The avocado fruit actually tastes some buttery and some like it on toast. I'd like to try Brazil nut milk one day in making butter, as it is oily milk, but good. I recently mixed Brazil nuts with almonds and made a milk and the good thing is that it did not separate like almond milk does by itself.
For those who have a problem with dissolving mixture after blending. You still can rescue it, so don't throw away. After blending put the mix into freezer for 15 min. When it solidified a little bit blend it again but with a hand blender. Any left over liquid (plant milk) just pour away. Put again to the freezer for some time and finally give to the refigerator. It s ready to eat. And GFK - if you feel inspiraton you can give us some more datails like, what tempture oils have got or what power has got your blender. The butter tastes very nice and recipe looks easy, but I have made it twice, and mixture get separated 🤔
Thank you for your tips. I do exactly the same I show in the video and it always turns out the same. All the oil I use is at room temperature-- right out of the bottle. However, I heat coconut oil first if it's solid, but I let it cools to room temperature before using it. As for a blender, I use a vitamix high speed blender and blend it at number 6-7.
Hi thanks for recipe but i hate soymilk can I use another nut milk like almond or cashew or oats?also can you bake with this vegan butter and make frosting?
I hear some good reports on using almond milk to it, but I have never done it myself before. Yes, you can bake with it. I just make oatmeal cookies with it. However, I have never used it for frosting as I don't usually bake, but I'm sure it works!

Yes, your choice. Soy milk is used in this recipe because it has more fat than most other milks derived from plants. Plus it’s widely available and fairly inexpensive.

I love this recipe but it does not last because of the soy milk only having a five day expiry. This is how I make it now Coco or cacao butter 15% Bran oil 50% Avocado oil 10% Copha 20% Carrot juice Salt Citric acid as a preservative Apple cider vinegar. I melt all oils I disolve the salt and acid in the carrot juice and add this to the slightly cooled oil mixture and then I blend with a stick blender as I'm cooling the pot in cold water with ice to get an emultion. It lasts for a month or more. Even heats like butter giving that butter scotch taste. I use it in EVERYTHING. It's highly freezable

I made only a quarter of the amount, (as I used oat milk and less salt and wasn't sure if it would still work) and gave it a good mix by hand with a small whisk, it worked fine. Also, I used coconut oil that was soft, I didn't heat and melt it to a liquid.
Hey, thanks for this video. I have a question, made this butter and was all pleased with myself....until I discovered after freezing it just melted into a liquid again! Any ideas what the issue may be?
So glad you appreciated the video! is there anything without that shitty apple cider crap??
Brilliant! How long will it last in the fridge? Can I keep some portions in the freezer for later use?
Thank you! It seems to last well for months in the fridge, but I don't generally keep it for any longer than I would normal butter, and it will freeze fine for later use as well.
I made this and didn't have any avocado oil so added MCT oil it really came together so fast and taste great as is but I will be buying the avocado oil to try. Thank you so much for a great simple butter recipe.

What is MCT oil?
@@liviapattiasina6310MCT is Medium Chain Triglycerides - usually produced from Coconut oil. It's the GO-TO oil for kickstarting KETOSIS. MCT oil has many benefits for the body, however it's claim to fame is from the ketogenic diet (no carbs).
Hope this helps.
MCT is just more Coconut oil.

Can I use pumpkin seed milk instead
I'm intrigued..Do you think this would work for baking in recipes that call for butter or vegan butter? Also, do I have to keep it in the fridge or the freezer? How soon does it go bad?
I use it for making oatmeal cookies, and it works fine! I keep it in the fridge and try to finish it in a month.
What a lovely calming video. Great video format without unnecessary chatter😄
So glad you appreciate all this about my video!!
Lol that sux but at least it's still edible. Use it in cilantro lime rice with less lime, or when cooking chicken or other meats it will compliment the meat and lose it's sharpness in the tart depmt.

Great recipe, thanks! But does it stay creamy on my packed lunch (e.g. while hiking) or does it get oily? I don't want my bread to be soaked from oil :-D
It melts when it's hot like dairy butter. I know what you mean about eating soggy bread during the hike :)

If I don't finish it in 2 weeks, I usually keep it in the freezer. I'm so happy to hear that you made it!
Gourmet Vegetarian Kitchen it’s such a great recipe, I am the one happy here 😊😊😊

The ideal is to change as often you can with the plant base milks so you get a lot and diferentes nutrients during the week
@@GourmetVegetarianKitchen thank you! I used almond milk and it worked very well
@@luci5945 thank you for this great advice
A tip I have seen that you don't do is to add a pinch of tumeric ,it gives a yellowy buttery colour !!
Thank you so much for letting me know. I'm so happy you like it!
Could I substitute another milk, like cashew milk instead of soya milk?
Oh! The music is delicious...😊
So glad you appreciate that too!
Tastes Gross! Vinegar flavor is much too strong. All those ingredients I bought just to make this -- total waste of money.
Can I use almond milk instead of soy ?
I use soy because it is high in protein, and almond milk should work too, but I haven't tried it that way yet. Let me know how it comes out if you do!
I've found its best when the soy milk curdles well. Almond milk doesn't really curdle in acid, so it might not work as well.
If you try it, let me know! Would love to know how it turns out
Did you ever try with almond milk?
I let the soy milk, apple cider vinegar and salt curdle for the 10min. Melted the coconut oil. The only thing I added was a wee bit of turmeric for color. I blended and mine for almost 2min (in a vitamix) and it looked a little separated.... almost clumpy. I put it in the freezer so we'll see how it works after freezing. Did anyone else notice a clumpy look to it before freezing?
So after the freezer you can place it in the fridge? How long will it last?
It will last for at least a month I'd say in the fridge, but I have not had it left over any longer than that to test. Basically it is very stable.
@@GourmetVegetarianKitchen : Thank you for responding....I will be trying this. Great video.
I'll skip the avocado. They are not raised by vegan standards.
The oil is melted. Not dissolved. Thanks

Does anyone ever tried to make croissants with this butter? Does it work for this purpose? Thanks!
I’m a bit worried with the coconut oil. I don’t like how it tastes
you can use refined coconut oil, it doesn't have any coconut taste.
Gourmet Vegetarian Kitchen Oh... thank you so much!
Can you use any type of vinegar?
I like to use apple cider vinegar, but I'm sure any type works.

Clicked on this one to get some more healing in, plus of course learning the recipe :) Changed the whole direction of my day~~~~~~~~ Thanks for expressing your vibe so well
Thank you so much for your kind comment, you have made my day even better too.
The fact that you say dissolve the coconut oil when all it's doing is melting really bothers me and I hope I am not the only one.
It must contain lecithin as it is found in soy and this recipe calls for soy milk.
Can we use some other milk such as Almonds, Cashew Milk?
Just started my journey on not eating meat and this video was extremely helpful. Like some that commented I make attempts to stay away from soy but will try your recipe with home almond milk in stead. Keep up the great work from a new subscriber.
Thank you very much and good luck on your journey without meat--I have been very happy I was able to transition away from meat myself too. I would like to experiment with making vegan butter with other milks too--please let me know if you find any great results!
How did the alternate milk work out? I've never had success with alternate milk when making mayonnaise, only soy milk works. So I'd love to know if other milks work here.
@Platano Power I sometimes get an upset stomach from soy milk, yet tolerate other forms of soy well.

You can leave it out, it doesn't effect the taste much. I hope you try soon!
Congratulations, you just made margarine.
Can I use oat milk or rice milk? 🤷🏽♀️ That's all I have at the moment
I've had some reports of success with almond milk, but soy has has so much protein that it works really well. I'm afraid rice or oat milk may not work so well, but please let me know if you try it this way and have success.

Thank you!
@M.N Ghosh refined coconut oil and avocado oil. I like the result as it was easy to spread.

Love the recipe! I was wondering if you could replace the soy milk with another non-dairy milk? (almond, oat...)
Yes, your choice. Soy milk is used in this recipe because it has more fat than most other milks derived from plants. Plus it’s widely available and fairly inexpensive.
The butter was too salty for me so i just put 1/8 tsp salt. Otherwise the butter was the best i ever made or tested. Thank you

Yes, absolutely. I use it to make oatmeal cookies all the time!
Can you bake with this "butter"
I'm sure you can. I use it to make oat meal cookies.
I love this recipe but it does not last because of the soy milk only having a five day expiry.
This is how I make it now
Coco or cacao butter 15%
Bran oil 50%
Avocado oil 10%
Copha 20%
Carrot juice
Salt
Citric acid as a preservative
Apple cider vinegar.
I melt all oils
I disolve the salt and acid in the carrot juice and add this to the slightly cooled oil mixture and then I blend with a stick blender as I'm cooling the pot in cold water with ice to get an emultion. It lasts for a month or more. Even heats like butter giving that butter scotch taste. I use it in EVERYTHING. It's highly freezable
