I think I felt such a mixture of emotions on the episode as ye discussed all the challenges I wish I'd moved away when I was a teenager. I grew up in a broken 💔 family. Great episode ❤

The best area of Portugal is the north. Unfortunately it's cold there in the winter

You’re so right. It’s so important to dream in life before deciding what to do. To see where you want to aim to end up. It’s a beautiful way to look at it and so true, everyone deserves to live the lives we love 🧡

Episode 10! YAY! Great conversation Malin&Tom. Whew, decisions and choices to make for the next year. You two have such an amazing attitude about the changes that are coming up rather quickly for your carefree living. I know for me, as a contract Cardiovascular Sonographer, once home for good, it was a huge adjustment for me. Oh how I missed traveling and working. But, my new grand baby brought me back down to earth. lol. My injury which stopped my working/ travels was so very hard to accept. But being able to care for my new and 1st grand baby brought joy and helped me to get out of Depression from no longer traveling and working. I understand your situation is much different, but like y’all talked about, it’s hard to adjust to go from being your own boss to living according to something else’s rules. I know that you are probably excited for Charlie to start school and hopefully he is too, but settling down into a completely different daily routine I think will be a bit of a challenge? Maybe not. But if I know you too, you will have plans ahead of time for traveling as soon as Charlie is out of school for the summer months. You will make the best of it for sure. I know it sucks that you have to have extensive testing done twice a yr. Which hinders your travels, but you will be free or worries and or anxiousness regarding your scans and testing. You both are so mature and level headed, I think it’s great that you’re not rushing into buying a home now. Enjoy your travels to the fullest. I’m sure y’all will seek out places/ states where there is warmth and lots of outdoor activities. Is Charlie excited about starting school? I tell you, children grow up way too fast and time gets away from us. I don’t have any friends that watch U Tube videos 🤷🏼‍♀️, or I would for sure be sharing your Podcast and Channel. I have encouraged my besties to watch, but they just prefer watching Tv and Face book. Go figure. I’m not a Facebook person. I love and enjoy spending time with you both. Enjoy the rest of your week, look forward to Fridays video. Always enjoy. Hopefully the problem with your heater will be minimal Tom. Exciting times of adventure ahead of all 4 of you. Oh, have you thought about getting a kitten to go travel with you for Charlie and Bella? Of course, that might be a bit much for Van life. lol. Thank you for another great episode

      Hi Karla!
As always thank you for the lovely words on the episode! 🫶🏼
I completely understand that it was hard for you when you had to stop traveling like that, but what a joy to be with your grand baby! Even if it’s a big part of us that wants to travel it’s always nice to be close to family again.
Charlie’s super excited about starting school, it’ll be me and Tom that suffers most I think😅 and you are right, even though ours isn’t that big yet they do grow up way to fast!
Sadly Charlie’s allergic to dogs and cats (amongst other animals) so we can’t have any pets in that way!

@@LifeOnaStickPodcast oh, I feel so bad for all those that are allergic to animals, be it their furr and or dander. My Oldest niece is highly allergic to cats. She can walk in her moms house ( cat put in different room) and immediately her eyes turn so red, swell and she starts sneezing out of control. But she isn’t allergic to dogs, horses etc. yep, you and Tom will have the hardest time adjusting. Children are so resilient! We aren’t so much. lol. Have a great rest of your week and wkend.

Love your comment about always doubting yourself as a parent, so true! Our children are grown and have great careers but we always supported them. Our son is a lighting director for the film industry, many up and downs! Our daughter is a welder, started on the pipelines while pregnant, made us grandparents! She’s a single mom, owns her own home and lives in the interior of British Columbia, Canada ❤ So proud of them both! Keep it real!!!

Best period for Italy is May / June or September/ October. A little cooler ( July/ August VERY VERY HOT ..in a van, air conditioning is essential in these months so you need to be hooked up to main line electricity)... also less people around if you avoid July / August!!! Also beware of the mosquitos!😂

Ah thank you for the advice! We’ll see when and if we manage to get there at some point. The mosquitos is not really a problem, Sweden is already full of them so we’re fighting them off every day here too 😂

What mosquitos have you got in Sweden , that's the big question?!!!! The " normal" type have been taken over by the " tiger " mosquito (Aedes Albopictus).. they're like miniature Tasmanian devils!😂... They're really crafty, difficult to catch and make the other mosquitos look like angels!!!😂.. also got nastier bite😢

Another uplifting listen guys! Malin, did you make the shawl you were wearing? If so, will you be making any to sell? I love the shawl and having already purchased one of your crocheted Bunnies I know how talented you are and I'd love to have a shawl like the one you were wearing in this podcast x

No I’ve not made it, but I have some yarn lying around to see if I can make something similar. I’ll let you know if I can manage to make one that looks good! X

Oh, Tom, that was really uplifting news! The BBC has become so biased that I just don't turn to it for any news at all, I get my news from various social media vloggers who are supportive of the need for Scotland to be independent. And I hadn't heard your news from them, so thank you so much! That is really marvellous, that those Afghan women can continue their medical studies in Scotland. Brilliant!

I say just don't get into debt because that will take away all your freedoms. Inspirational people to me are those who live without debt.

Ok so taking away women's rights probably tops getting into debt but you get the idea.

Another idea, buy a tiny house but be careful it is made of durable materials that will not start to disintegrate after 20 years. You can have solar panels, keep chickens, etc, more space than van life but not house life. You could rent that out when you are travelling or air b n b it. What about getting a house before October and air b n b ing whilst away, return next Spring and Summer. If you have space, have a lodger during that period and when Charlie starts school, air b n b during school holidays when you are likely to be travelling. You have got next Spring and Summer when you can intro Charlie to some groups of other children such as the odd play group session so that he is used to integrating himself into a group.

Oh yeah this is one idea that we’ve been discussing a lot! I think this was the dream to get one before October but because we’ve not found one in the right area (located close enough to Charlie’s school) we’ve still not bought anything yet. But we’re still looking and hoping to find something soon!
