    This is not a review. This is just a video of two frustrated guys bitching about the progress and trying to be funny at the same time. If you want to see a real M3 F80 review from a guy that actually knows how to drive a car, watch Chris Harris in stead.

    Love the new CR approach to videos lately. Looks like someone realized that the CR brand needed a facelift, which it did. I like that we are essentially seeing the "unplugged" or reboot version of CR. Good job guys.

    There are so many better and more professional reviewers of performance cars on RUclips. For intelligent reports on high performance cars try Chris Harris on Cars. For starters, he knows how to drive. Beyond that he's intimately familiar with dozens of performance cars so you get a great comparative perspective. I think the Consumer Reports guys may be better at conventional sedans and SUVs... where they're less overwhelmed.

    I bought my M3 after watching this review and others. I agree with the review, they basically said "you can get this in manual! but if you go automatic ..." which I completely agree with! BMW and Porsche with their manual transmissions are what set them apart from Lexus, Mercedes, Cadillac, and Audi.

  • @christophergreene3838

    This review does not surprise me, considering the source. Having owned M3's and M5's, I can tell this M3 either surpasses the reviewers' skills, or simply grates against their delicate sensibilities. The BMW DCT and Porsche PDK represent two of the finest double clutch transmissions currently available. Their preference of the C63 speaks volumes. In agreement with some recent comments, I have no such issues with my F80 M3.

    Try setting the shift speed... you're on automatic around a track? C'mon guys. No wonder you think it's weird. The dual clutch system is insanely powerful, shaves time off performance driving AND it rev matches... failed to mention that one. If you're losing control with the shifting for some reason, I don't think you can blame the dual clutch system.

  • @Pokersprout
    @Pokersprout 8 лет назад

    • @Pokersprout

      Which is certainly your prerogative. Dragging is fun. But when you cut down something for it's capability and ease of adjustment, it points to ignorance on your part, in my opinion, rather than ignorance of the engineers.

    Consumer Reports is supposed to be "reviewing" cars and telling us about their reliability, ergonomics, design and assembly quality and the plus and minus points of the car ... if they want to go on joyrides, that is their business but they should not dilute their brand by having reviewers like these driving around like teenagers with a new hot rod

    Wow. Where the hell did they find these guys? Were they seriously driving through the grass with an M3? It's like they threw in a pair of college-aged d-bags to comment on a car they know nothing about. It's one thing to prefer a manual transmission, but to call the DCT "annoying" and "stupid" is plain ignorant. BMWs DCT is a pretty amazing piece of engineering, and, with the exception of Porsche's PDK, has very few rivals. Mercedes doesn't even come close, not even in a C63 AMG (although it is a fun car to drive). BTW…they realize that the C63 AMG doesn't have a manual, right? Complaints about the settings is a first too. I mean, part of the fun with this kind of car is playing around with the different settings on the car to see what you like. Then, you just program M1 and M2, but they probably have no idea what those buttons are. It's ok to hate on the M3/4, but if you do so, say something intelligible about the car. Any idiot can drift an M3, but it doesn't make you an expert, which was made clear by this review. Consumer reports should just stick to reviewing vacuums and deodorant.

    How can you complain about the DCT gearbox?! Is one of the best gearbox's out there. DCT, PDK, ZF, etc... How can you say that the DCT (dual-clutch) is jurky in town? And even worse, how can you say that the mercedes single clutch (wet-clutch) is better?! The Mercedes is actually jurky in slow speeds and a lot slower when changing gears. They are in totally different leagues.
    And you can't compare the M3 F80 with the C63 w204. The bmw has a bit less torque and less hp but with less then half of the displacement. So it's a lot more efficient. And don't forget that you get all the power pretty earlier in the rev range. It's just a very complete car. It's a great car.

      go slower then. "the best knows no alternative" is the newest tagline of MB. MB builds luxury sports cars with a hope of sport. BMW builds sport luxury cars. Look at history. no disputing it. BMW has kept "the ultimate driving machine" logo for more than 23 years. They know who they are as a brand more than any other manufacturer. 23 years and counting

    • @jtafoya88
      @jtafoya88 10 лет назад

      Sorry to inform you but that was in the past, today BMW cars have gotten more heavy and slightly less fun to drive with the exception of the M235. Motor Trend themselves said it, BMW is just not what they used to be, the best sports luxury brand, which is sad.Christopher Rose

    • @christopherrose4970
      @christopherrose4970 10 лет назад

      juan tafoya Your comment is true. BMW "have gotten more heavy and slightly less fun to drive". As have all manufacturers. Look at the size of all cars and their predecessors. My point was that BMW knows who and what they are. The addition of safety equipment and electric power steering have tampered with our human interaction with cars. But BMW continues to nail that feeling of human interaction more than its competitors. The best sports luxury stand still lives because the competition continues to erode with it. Its called driver aids and safety equipment for continuing government compliance regulations.

    The old E46 M3 CSL. Now that car was worthy (Link for car reference: ruclips.net/video/u3jVhsI26O4/видео.htmlm35s ). This new M3 is just a S55 Engine (I6) but a Ford Taurus SHO V6 with the boost turned up, stick shift or a dual clutch, and all wheel drive deleted to just rear wheel drive. Not that there is anything wrong with the first two :) . I would buy the CSL in a heartbeat though...
