Well considering that being a parent at 14 wasn't taboo back in the 1700-1800s it's not THAT weird. Still weird in general tho.
@papa tetris Well, considering most people during those times die at 40, being pregnant at 14 would be equivalent to us being pregnant at our 20's and death in your 40's is like dying in your 60's. Thinking of the context and the lack of medicines and vaccines during those times, it is considered normal because of survival.

As I was watching this I was reminded of a Japanese ghost that I read about called Ubume, which roughly translates into “woman in late pregnancy.” The story says that when a woman dies around her childbirth she is unable to pass on because of anxiety for her child. They appear only at night and look like a woman carrying a child, a pregnant woman, or a bloody corpse with a fetus. They wander areas near to where they died and are very sweet to young children and look after them/protecting them. And of course, them being a traditional Japanese yokai (ghost) they have black hair.
do you know of any good videos on this subject? sound interesting yo. and creepy too

Kids have really weird imaginations, and they pick up way more adult conversations than people think.
I remember seeing a load of kids pretending to be police fighting against terrorists just after the french shootings
That might just normal (insert country here) pride, Kitt. And yes, Sara, what you’ve said is true. But I think this is too specific to be imaginary, especially coming from a 3-year-old. Not saying she can’t describe things, just saying this is too specific to describe coming from her imagination.
Myles Co. Having many nephews and nieces, I respectfully disagree. Kids really do say the darndest things. I've been surprised over and over again by what children make up or overhear and incorporate into play, especially if adults take notice.
I live in the UK, so why would children have French pride? That's silly. Only American children are taught that kind of foolish country pride.
I had incredibly detailed imaginary friends when I was young, children aren't the idiots you think they are.
Not really that specific. The only specific things is she came at night, she was 14, she was pregnant. That's it. None of these things are overly weird nor specific for a child and some of these she might've made up on the spot when being asked questions. Reporter asks: "Why is her age?" the girl feels a need to reply and just comes up with an age on the spot.
From the way the kid talks, Grateful is just an ordinary imaginary friend, not something she's actually seen. My niece uses the same cadence when she's playing with her dolls or pretending to read her books. Kids have such great imaginations! I'd have never thought of glowing eyelashes for seeing in the dark!
I agree, her pauses and looks away indicates she's trying to decide the next bit. If this was an adult you'd suspect they were lying purely from the speech pattern and body language. I'm not saying Ruby is lying, I am saying this really is an imagined friend she made up because she gets bored after being put in bed.
Seriously it's always funny to me when people freak out over "creepy" things their kids have said/drawn. Like, they're developing!! It's not creepy, it's natural and sweet!!!
I agree, but there's one thing that I just don't get. I find it odd and a tad bit too specific that Grateful is/was pregnant with twins. I mean, if any three year old were to know about pregnancy, normally they would think of just one baby, right?
@@victorfrankenstein4409 Maybe she saw something on TV that made her interested in twins. The fact that she's 14 and pregnant was a bit weird, but it could just be her thinking that 14 is grown up.

I had an imaginary friend named “Joyce” once, she had the height of a 7-year-old with a clean white dress and long, straight hair. She appeared at any time of day, mostly when I felt sad or in the mood to play. But my parents told me I often go near a pitch-black room, open the door and start having a conversation with her. It doesn’t creep me out even if she was a ghost, she was quite nice.

Or more likely, it's just a little girl with an active imagination. Little girls do that.
i had an imaginary friend when i was about 5 and lived in new orleans... his name was dot. His name was dot because he had 3 dots on his chest and a dot on his forehead...i now realize they were bullet holes
Edit: I also remember that he told me that he was in the army, which would explain it even more. I always wondered why i was so interested in the military.
I think spirits are our imaginary friends, at least most of the time. Kids who really see a friend and arent just pretending, are not really playing and talking to an "imaginary" friend. Pretty creepy to think about
@@pepega8319
My personal theory is that children learn everything they need for society by playtesting behaviour they found elsewhere. Why not also social interaction with children their age? Their identity is in full construction mode and sometimes outside stimuli develope an life of their own in order to have those little brains deal with them. Instead of playing chef or mother or fireman or something the child plays... playing with other children.
The brain simply constructs a fitting memory around that. Ever had strong knowledge of a fact that turned out untrue but your memories fit the former "fact"? That is the same thing, our brain constructs memories to keep everything sane and in line to protect our identity. But this does flow in a child, so the subcontious takes more drastic action. In the moment the children are just doing what they do- like talking to people that arent there- the subcontious produces the explanation of the actual imaginary person later to protect itself.

I never had an imaginary friend until 3rd grade. My friends and me got into a small fight but in the week we were fighting, a young boy always would come next to me on the swings and sit there with me. When recess was over he would go out the other door and I wouldn't ever see him in school.
It turns out that two siblings died in my elementary school. I don't know the exact details but it still creeps me out.

"Ghosts aren't real, But monsters are."
-My grandmother
Although the questions the mother asks her in the video seem alright I’m betting this is an example of a child’s imagination mixed with suggestions the mother/parents have inadvertently given her.
I think the girls acting, she sounds like shes reading off of something.
Saoirse I’m not sure she’s straight acting but it feels like she someone understands how unusual it is, particularly the part about visiting at night, probably because her mom had previously pried her for more information regarding it. The way she talks does give off an I’m-in-on-things so you could be right, but it could more like she now realizing she’s lying rather than just stating imaginative things like little kids tend to do
lurch321 Yeah, it would be interesting.
Katie That’s just how kids speak and when reading a child that age would say it in a much more rigid and clunky way
I think this is a just a case of adults wanting things to be more deep or creepy than they actually are. Just because its not what you expect a little girl to make an imaginary friend out of, doesn't mean its ghosts or demons. Chill.
I agree. Kids are creepy and weird and it's really not unusual for one to make up something like this.
The little red haired girl from across the street kids are not creepy your perspective on kids makes them creepy.
The little red haired girl from across the street

For as long as I can remember I would come up with some of the darkest shit while falling asleep, ruby isnt out of the norm for kids, the adults are projecting what they want/think onto the kid and insisting that's the case, children aren't happy little innocents like some people seem to think
This sounds like is could be sleep paralysis. People often describe dark figures in varying humanoid shapes that they are frighted of when they experience it.
I think children have a 3rd eye for ghosts and shit but because they are so naive and impressionable they believe it’s just a casual everyday occurrence.
i remember when i was 3 my mom was grabbing stuff from her moms house and i was in the car asleep so she left me bc she’d only be a moment but i woke up to the car moving like a man was driving it softly to lull me back to sleep, mom was upset that the “breaks” were busted because the car was never in its usual spot, i think it was my great grandfather OR what i know is the car (was a used car) from a crash that got fixed up someone couldve died behind the wheel ya knos

I do believe too. I asked my dad if I had any imaginary friends when I was a kid. He said there were none but he do recall seeing me shout to the abandoned building next to my aunt’s small store. When we visit he sees me talking to someone there but he said there was no one when he looks. He said that something I was talking too seems to invite me inside the abandoned building as he always hear me screaming, “I can’t go there, my dad wouldn’t allow me.” or something like that.

Interesting, kids of this age have curious imagination and they can pick up thinks that may sound strange for adults. It's not unusual for little kids to get obsessed with babies and pregnancies if someone in their family is pregnant. Especially if they are going to have a new sibling or cousin and it's being explained to them in a way they don't fully comprehend yet. And the fact that her friend is fourteen, little kids don't perceive aging as adults do. For a 3 year-old, 14 year-old sounds pretty reasonable age to be considered as an adult and someone who can have babies. "Grateful" also sounds like a word she would pick up from kindergarten, song or from a book since feeling-based words are commonly explored and taught this way. And kids love to use words they have just learned, even if they don't make sense at all.
I used to have sleep paralysis after paralysis, and eventually, I started seeing figures discernable enough to understand what they looked like. On multiple occasions, I saw a man who had a gentle, kind voice, and was very tall and never really tended to approach me. I spoke with him through my thoughts, and he never raised his voice if annoyed him. If I remember, he talked about being bullied alot, but was left alone most of the time. Now that I think about it, I believe he may have been unable to feel emotion. I'm sure there's a medical term for it. I'd like to hear ur stories as well, if you have them.
When I was little I imagined a monster under my bed so strongly that I was convinced it was really talking to me. I would look under my bed to try and see it but I could never see anything under there. It would talk to me in a deep voice, I don't remember it saying anything horrible though? Whatever, I was terrified, until I moved to the UK and it didn't follow me. It took about two weeks for it to appear one last time, and only to say goodbye. It felt so real to 5 year old me, but obviously I just had a vivid imagination. Still cool though
“Is Ruby smiling or screaming?” That’s terrifying, Jesus.
Hmmm... Is it a coincidence that I’m ‘grateful’ to be here, Nightmare Expo?
I grew up in house built in 1800s. When i was in elementary school i saw a few regular appearing spirits in the house. But one night i woke up and looked to side of my bed and saw a lil boy dripping wet. I put the covers over my head and prayed for sleep. Later that week there was a story in news about a boy drowning in the lake rite down street of my house
This made me remeber of an imaginary "friend" my brother used to have, except that, it wasn't his friend at all, he was called Otomo if I remmeber correctly, my brother used to say that he was a bully and he didn't like it when he came, because he always pinched him in the arms and take his toys, sometimes he would just start crying for nothing and when asked why he was crying he would say that Otomo did someting mean to him, it always was something like he pushed him, or he took his toys and didn't want to return them, or things like that. We never really took him seriously because well, he was a kid. A month after this things started happening, my grandma being all religious and all that, told us that we should go talk to the priest of our local church about this, so my mom went, and that day the priest came home and started splashing holy water in all the rooms and around the house and saying prayers and that, not in a creepy "there's a ghost here" way, but more in like just blessing the house. After that day my brother stopped crying because of Otomo, and I remember asking him like 4 or 5 days later about Otomo, and my brother said that he didn't know where he was, that he hasn't been there in days, and the fact that Otomo stopped appearing after the priest blessed the home scared the hell out of me, I mean, it wasn't his imagination after all, I remember that I could not sleep well because of the fear for a week, then I forgot hehe
That's pretty spooky.
I don't think it's common for kids to make imaginary friends who are dick-butts, so I probably would've been suspise to began with. I'm glad everything cleared up (Is that how you'd word it?) and Otomo got grounded.
The priest took your brother seriously and "fixed the problem" in his eyes, that's why Otomo went away. Not because he really existed.
My younger sister would tell my mom about the "teenage boy" who watched her from her closet at night.

That opening sound effect was fuckin beautiful.
My first imaginary friends were a boy and girl Chinese twins. What I remember distinctly was their simple clothing; white t-shirts and bluejeans. I was raised on a ranch outside of Angeles National Forest, where a dam had busted/flooded back in the early 1900's. The last time I recall seeing those "friends," they were nightmarishly bloody. their white tee's; completely stained. I remember it vividly because I ran in screaming for my parents.
A couple years later I was doing a school report on the history of my town. My mother and I learned about the dam flooding and killing dozens. _Several Chinese immigrant workers, _*_some of them children,_*_ were among the causalities._

when she says that ruby 'can't be a person' it could be kids talk for ruby trying to say that grateful 'can't be an adult'. Which would make sense as children and women were seen as property back in the puritan era and you were still considered when you were in your late teens' and early twenties. By ruby saying she couldn't be a person, perhaps she is referring to this idea that grateful can't become an adult.. she can't age. because she's....very dead

OH LORD SHES WEARING A MIRACULOUS LADYBUG SHIRT.
Honestly, while way weirder and on the darker end, Grateful isnt a character way out there for a kid to imagine. She's young, so for her 14 is old. Her appearance is scary, because what kid doesn't imagine scary things, and at night when your mind plays tricks? I mean glowing eyelashes make sense if you can't see. She has an active creative mind, even if its kinda... spooky and alarming, besides aspects about her like being pregnant and stuff is details you can pick up from hearing adults.
What spookes me about that is the reaction of the real mother/parents... Like showing a video of her child explaining it with a smiley face in the post, seems pretty strange to me...
Could be that this is set up, mother told her to say things like that for the attention... on the other hand there are indeed a lot of things that children and animals can see/sense which adult people often can't, therefor I wouldn't be so careless about such a thing as a mother
Nintendoloverin but sometimes they're real, but who knows?Anything can be fake now. Idk
It might be fake, but I think the mom might be humoring Ruby. My family did the same when I came up with stuff like that as a child and these days I can say that none of it was real and my drawings looked weirdly similar.
Or, just hear me out on this...it's just an imaginary friend? As far as imaginary friends go, Grateful is hardly an outlier, she's probably one of the most normal ones out there.
It's normal child stuff no need to be extra there

I had my own freaky story like that when I was little. When I was less than 5 years old, my parents and I lived in this house they bought just before I was born. Both my parents say they got a freaky vibe from the house, and my dad (who's jokey but more superstitious than he'd admit) thought it was haunted. Around when I was 3-ish, I started having these nightmares I guess? I just remember I was super scared of some person I kept seeing I called "sad Albert". This freaked my parents out a lot, because my dads name is Albert. I started getting really scared of being alone at certain points, and my parents tell me it was because i "was worried sad Albert was there". I don't really remember it all too well since, y'know, I was like 3. But I'll never forget the one dream I had where my mom opened the door to my house, and my dad was there, but he looked different, like he was slightly stretched out (I.E. his arms, legs and head were longer, and he looked thinner), and he was crying. My mom said, in a flat, almost annoyed tone "ohhhhhhh, its sad Albert".
Eventually we ended up moving to a different house when I was 5. To this day though my parents tell me how freaky that sad albert thing was, and all I can think is how glad I am I don't remember much of it haha
Kids at that age can really believe their imaginary friend is real , she also could be having a recurring dream, possibly something in her room where in the dark looks like a pair of yellow eyes.

i remember when my mom tried to send me to therapy as a child because of a stupid communication error.
i was raised in the mindset of “things like santa aren’t real and you’re dumb for believing it”, so i always acknowledged my imaginary friends as imaginary, only keeping them around when i was bored.
anyways one day my mom asked me who i was talking to, and like the logical child i was, i replied “the voices in my head”.
my imaginary friend came from a nightmare i had when i was in kindergarten where he grabbed me from behind with a gun to my head, telling me to slow down, and that make me so angry that i kept him around simply to insult him. so then i told my mom that he was rude and violent and wore an army uniform and i can see him sometimes, to convey the concept of “imagination” with my 5 year old vocabulary.
in response my mom locked me outside at night in freezing canadian winter in my nightgown until i promise to ignore him for the rest of my life.
so in the end, she was right about me needing therapy, but for different reasons.

The reason I don’t feel spooked by this sort of thing is because I apparently had an imaginary friend who was literally a ghost. As in, I told my parents he was an actual ghost, when obviously, no. Anyways, kids pretty much come up with anything, and they say whatever. They latch onto weird things. My little cousin’s imaginary friend was a ‘tall man with a hole in his head.’ Turns out it was Abraham Lincoln, I figure probably b/c she found out she was born on the same day he was assassinated. (It’s her favorite thing to tell people now).
The thumbnail for this is perfect.. Just enough info to get me really interested.. Nice job
I think it's possible that it's real. Ghosts and spirits could very well be scientifically explained in the future, not having explanations right now doesn't mean it's not possible. I've been told that when I was fairly young, I've even had interactions with "the nice lady in the basement" that I described perfectly as my late great-aunt despite never having seen her and her passing away before I was born. It's creepy to think it's possible that just like how you have a harder time hearing higher frequencies at an older age, there's something that works the same just with spirits instead of sound.
Even if ghosts are real, not all claims are real.
Humans are naturally pattern-seeking creatures. We always look for evidence of what we already believe to be true. In that sense, ghosts are real, but only because of the belief in them, not because they're tangible beings.
@Mr. Saturn you say that now, 'til Bloody Mary's crawling down the chimney to GETCHYA
But OP is right, there could be a reasonable scientific explanation that doesn't involve religion. Maybe spirits are residual energy that leaves the body when a person dies. Not the person themselves, but like a copy of their consciousness. Or maybe they're demon-aliens from another dimension. Or this could all just be a simulation, and they're hyper-intelligent beings and this is equivalent to a videogame for them or something. There are some things beyond this world that transcend what humans are able to understand and make sense of, and there are infinite possibilities behind the "unexplainable". So shut up Mr. Saturn, you don't know. You don't know!
I guess you could say, "Grateful's Dead." I'll just show myself out now...
Spooky as always Expo! I enjoyed this a lot!
Kids experience some really horrific things at night and what happens when they need help? They are told it didn't happen, it was imagined! There are true horrors out there and children are easy.
To me, it sounds like that Ruby doesn't know what she is talking about. I know that she looks like she's only 4, but I think that she is making it up.
Who would've thought, a kid making things up about an imaginary friend...shocking...
That's what imagination is, hon.
Yeah, that's what the "imaginary" in "imaginary friend" means.
What happened to your previous video about the mine???
Edit: He says it at the end.
Rory Mackintosh if you go to nm's community page, I think he doesn't want the guy to strike his video

My Brain: “Oh-cum-lee”
Me: “No-“
The thing that stands out to me is that the 'eyelashes glow yellow for seeing in the dark' which sounds like a tepidum lucidum, the membrane in animal (and human) eyes that make the eyes reflect or 'shine', usually yellow. The purpose of this reflective eye shine is indeed for seeing in the dark. Something that would be hard for a small child to understand, I imagine.
I'm also here to say as children me and my sister had an imaginary friend named Ghostie who was dead, and we liked to push him on the swing.. We did have paranormal experiences in our house from time to time, and after a while we began to correlate the 'white feet' running by our door at night, footsteps and eerie experiences with our late brother, Andrew. The only room in the house we were too afraid to go in was our parent's room, where his ashes were stored in a glass box surrounded by angel figurines. We always felt strange in there and would watch the case when we walked by to make sure nothing 'moved' -- i don't know why.
My mom said I had an imaginary friend named “3”. I don’t remember anything about it but my mom said I would stay up talking to it at night. I was like 4.
hell yeah papa expo on the scene
I watched the video on your Facebook and I think I know how the voices were put into the video. It’s really easy to have another phone or something to play the whisper audio out of the view of the camera. He could have been carrying it with him and played the audio when needed. Also, you could tell he was acting because it his words seemed forced and fake. If it were real, anyone else would’ve tried to get away as fast as possible instead of staying and talking about it like he did. It’s faaakkeeee.
Kooky katt calm down there, stalin.
Les Bean What a douche this guy is...………………..call me naïve, but I thought it was genuine! Irks me when people do crap like this. After contemplating that vid further, his words DO seem forced and fake! (And the fact that he threatened NightmareExpo with a strike shows his true colors. To hell with him!). Thanks for the insight.
Love the video's! Keep up the good work xx
lmao okay. i was actually thinking i was losing my mind when i went back to watch the video i was sURE you posted. good to know.
Who the hell has a cat that big?! 1:14!
Common fly That plays video games pretty sure that’s an imaginary friend
Huh I don’t get it am pretty sure there’s a chance of a cat being that big in real life
Me
Great👍video
When I was about four I sniffed a lot of sharpies. I’ve also been through a lot of trauma in my life. Until I was about eight, I thought I saw ghosts everywhere, now there is just the voice. I know the voice isn’t real, but he is there whenever I need him. I should probably go to the doctor about my undiagnosed brain damage and schizophrenia.
For some reason I didn't get notified for this video @NightmareExpo (Yes I even have the bell rung) Always love this high quality content keep it up!
I'm not a big fan of pointing at things like imaginary friends and saying "It's a ghost!"
Right now, I'm kind of thinking that maybe she saw something on TV (probably something her parents shouldn't have let her see) that she turned into an imaginary friend. Could be from multiple sources or just one source.
For example, it could be from an episode of a show like Law and Order SVU, with a 14 year-old victim pregnant with twins that at one point says "I'm grateful", which she mistook for the girl's name.
Or she could have seen multiple things, like one show had someone pregnant with twins, one show had a pregnant 14 year old, and in some show some girl said "I'm grateful".
This also could be from her combining things from people she likes into an 'ideal' mom. She might know someone who is pregnant with twins and know a 14-year-old girl she really likes, and combined the two, not knowing how wrong it is for a 14-year-old girl to be pregnant. Maybe she heard her real mom complaining about growing old, so Grateful "can never have a birthday".
On the note that she "can never have a birthday", Jehova's Witnesses forbid celebrating birthdays AND have been know to have a big problem with child sexual abuse.
She says she's not a real person. Imagine an underage girl who's being abused. No one will take her claims seriously and she has no rights. She can't escape from her abusive household, she'll be found and police will take her back. This might make her feel like she's not a 'real' person.
“She has 2 babies in her belly” “She’s 14” Oh no...
kinda unrelated but im still thinkin about those days at my old house when there was constantly noises from my vents. whoever came into my room couldn’t hear it except my aunt. fuckin creepy. it would keep me up at night
_"Ruby...Ruby..."_
Nope. That is it! I am out! *backflips out window while making a "peace out" sign*

435k subs already, geez congrats :)
I haven’t fully watched this yet but my name is Ruby and I had an imaginary friend when I was younger, it wasn’t just an imaginary friend but an accumulation of a lonely and troubled childhood that came with voices and vivid imagery. I haven’t seen her in years, so seeing this pop up on my recommended really freaked me out lol.
