I followed all your tips, did it just like you taught me, and treated my momma to a bluegill dinner last night! Happy Mother’s Day to Momma Sue and thank you Richard Gene for bestowing the knowledge!
RICHARD HAS WORKED SOOOOO HARD TO GET HIS RUclips CHANNEL WHERE ITS AT BUT THE SAD THING IS HIS CHANNEL SHOULD HAVE MILLIONS OF SUBSCRIBERS MILLIONS! BUT RICHARD IS HAPPY WITH WHAT HE HAS AND THATS WHY HE IS SO GOOD AT WHAT HE DOES HE PUTS IN THE HARD WORK AND HE STAYS POSITIVE 24/7 THEY! THEY! THE ADRELOGON IS TOO MUCH !!! WHEW……WHEW!!!!!!
Used to catch blue gill on light tackle with a trout fly and a bobber 24 inches up from the fly. Used the bobber to get it out there, then worked it back. Filet 'em out and use the guts that night for catfish. Long gone days...alas. Sir Richard, thank you for showing, sharing and educating. We all benefit from you. Blessings to you and Momma Sue. Keep on!
Buddy that’s a formula for a great time. I love catching bluegill on the fly. I use a 5/6 weight 9’ fly rod paired with a tiny bee popper. They can’t resist it. Fun catching them on the surface. You can hear their mouth smack it.
Richard on a different subject. I’m from Louisiana and we are staying in Gantt Lake near Andalusia, AL. It is a hydro electric lake. They damned up the conecuh river. Anyway supposedly it is not a good sac a lait (aka crappie lake). But I found a low bridge over there the reservoirs narrows similar to the small bridges you fished on guntersville. Followed the tips you taught on those bridge videos and caught 20 nice ones today from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Vertical jigging. Was catching em at about 10-12’. In what I guess was 20 or more feet. I was in a kayak and no sonar. Totally different style of what I’m used too. I’m typically fishing in the Atchafalaya swamp. Deep water there is 10-12’. Thanks for the great videos.
Thank you Richard, great info and video! You and the best ever, that is why I also share all of your videos,so more of us can catch more fish! God;s blessings always! 😇
Hi Mr. Richard. Thank you for another great video. I really appreciate you sharing your fishing tips and techniques with us and showing them in action. God bless you and your family.
Gotta love that non stop Bluegill bedding action!!!! I love it when it's one fish after another fish!!! Adrenaline rush for sure Richard 👍 thanks for another epic video!!
I've been using the Lewis laser hs ultra light rod and lews laser light reel like a 50 or 25 size and 2lb whatever I can find in store line and have be loving the sport of bluegill fishin
Enjoyed your show, Richard. You summarized my testimony on bluegill and redear fishing perfectly. They are oodles of fun to catch and excellent for the table. God bless, Don
When I find beds, and a pile of them, I like to try to start in the front and work my way to the back, that way i don't drag the gills I'm hooking in the back of the beds and drag them thru the front beds, it does help...
Richard you are the man I just ordered me some of those pin tails I got the orange pink and some chartreuse hope they work as well for me but I’m sure they will GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS Thanks Man
Thank you ,Mr. Richard, for a great day, fishin. Gonna have to try some of those Mikko baits. Really appreciate all the knowledge and tips that you give us. God certainly blessed you with your talent for fishing. Tell Mama Sue, Happy Mothers day. God bless y'all and stay safe on your travels.
RGTFM Videos are always entertaining and instructional. Wish he'd do one on how to fish a jig for largemouth bass. Never really got to be a master with a jig.
The bullhead are running like crazy right now at my lake. Heck of alot of fun and an awesome fight for a smaller fish. Especially on light tackle. Any chance of getting a video of you catching any with some tips?
Richard Gene- Been watching your videos about a year now, loved every one of them, if you were to nail down one single lure for multiple species of fish, what might that be ? Thanks , keep up the good work and God Bless ya Buddy !
Hi Richard I have notice that the big monster bluegill nest Earley in April when the water is not is hot thin the rest of the summer seems like they don't nest again but in April catch some real big pigs I always tern thim lose and keep the smaller ones there so much fun to catch so I release the pigs for future stock
Oh yeah , the Ric Flair of crappie fishing is back , wooooo , great video Gene , got a question for you , do you use leader line to main fishing line or just straight fishing line , and if so , how many feet of leader line.
Sometimes I think that all the electronics and fancy gizmos take a lot of the actual fun out of fishing and make people think they have to have multi thousands of dollars tied up in gear and equipment to be successful and have fun fishing. This video just proves that you can get by just fine using a little jon boat, a cheap trolling motor along with some polarized glasses and a non fancy spinning rod and reel and they still work and catch fish just as good today as they did 60 years ago!
I kept looking for the Bluegills you see, but I don't have access to my polorcized sunclases. An want to ax you a question...How do we who are in a wheelchair (breathing problems from Agent Orange) find places to fish???
Richard! I can't get enough. I just can't. I'd give anything to go out in a boat with you and Mama Sue both and catch us some bluegill and shellcracker and go home and just cook and eat till we almost bust open. Now that would be a time. Thank you, Richard. That area just looks like a bluegill. I see what you mean.
What kind of boat are you in and what size is it? And may I say,,, may God bless you and keep you all the days of your life with your beautiful wife!!! I’m looking for an 8’ or 10’ John boat with a trailer, a small motor and trolling motor and an electric wrench on the trailer. Because of my back surgeries, I can’t lift anything heavy. Any ideas???
Richard captures the essence and intrinsic value of fishing. It doesn't have to be hard. You don't need $10,000 of equipment and electronics. It's just FISHING. Go have fun...and it's good fer ya.
We went after the bluegill and shell daddy’s on the 1st of May I believe. We caught several but we ended up keeping 27 I believe… It’s plenty to feed our family and then some… We probably could have caught another limit but there was a family there fishing and they weren’t having much luck… I had my glasses on and I could see the bluegill working alive on that bed…😅 We told them to move over about 20 feet and the father threw out and had one as soon as it hit the water… We decided to call it a day and let them have their fun. What was really weird is we only caught like 2 or 3 shell cracker the whole time we were out there. But I caught the biggest one of the day and it was a bluegill/shell cracker hybrid… That was a deep bed that hybrid was on, I bet it was in 10 feet of water… My brother in law barely even seen the beds at that depth. We went to Rocky Mountain in Rome Ga and fished the trophy lake or Heath lake whichever you wanna call it… We seen another RUclipsr while we were there. It was Flukemaster, man I bet he paid dearly for that dang wrap he had on his truck…😂 He wants folks to know it’s him coming… Lmao
I followed all your tips, did it just like you taught me, and treated my momma to a bluegill dinner last night! Happy Mother’s Day to Momma Sue and thank you Richard Gene for bestowing the knowledge!
Ain't it great? I mean really. I know your momma loved that fish.
I always admire how clean and clutter free your boat is. Great video!

A big bluegill or Shellcracker on a fly rod. Pure joy. Great fishing to you.
Buddy that’s a formula for a great time. I love catching bluegill on the fly. I use a 5/6 weight 9’ fly rod paired with a tiny bee popper. They can’t resist it. Fun catching them on the surface. You can hear their mouth smack it.

Great spring fishing!! Thanks, Fishing Machine!!👍
Any tips to find em from the bank this time of year?
When I find beds, and a pile of them, I like to try to start in the front and work my way to the back, that way i don't drag the gills I'm hooking in the back of the beds and drag them thru the front beds, it does help...

THE FISHING MACHINE!
A day on the water with ole Richard chewing the fat would be a priceless moment...catching anything or not.
