      I think issue might be certification. To be officials and be paid, people need to provide documents that they have certifications

    • @Chels4hair
      @Chels4hair 3 года назад +16

      then he should try to find a school to do that while the mom works on his business'. He could teach the wife how to do the business, then he could go to Korean University-school to be certified as a South Korean translator. I hope that is what he is doing now, it will help with his opportunities in the future. I also hope the whole family takes the test to get South Korean citizenship soon. I hope they are teaching the kids their AFRICAN MOTHER LANGUAGE as well as French and English. Hopefully, they can go to a foreign or international high school to learn English, one parent can speak French and the other their national African mother tongue.

    • @am32074
      @am32074 2 года назад +2

      The issue is probably has to fo with the fact that he's neither korean or a refugee so the process of getting the certification is harder. Im sure he either thought about that or someone told him to and tried but found it difficult. Maybe companies wouldn't hire him unless he meet certain qualifications like a linguistic degree or take tests but the tests also need qualifications like nationality and stuff that comes with it.

    I really do believe Blessing could one day become a fantastic actress in S. Korea, but she is going to have to break down so many more barriers first before she get cast by a casting agent in an actual Korean drama. I think she could book maybe a cameo appearance tho playing like Friend #1 or something, but she probably won't get supporting role right away no matter how good she is. I think it's possible as S. Korea is still changing, but it will take babysteps. I wish much good luck to Blessing because I know she is going to struggle hard as an African female trying to act in S. Korea.

    As a Korean, it's always fascinating to see non-Asians speak Korean so fluently and behave like Koreans. They're probably my favorite black family on the show thus far. I hope Blessing makes it big as an actress in Korea.

      The 황 family is amazing, too. Mr. 황 is raising his 3 young children who are half Black and under 10 yrs old by himself because his wife from Ghana passed away. His love for his 3 children are evident in the way he speaks to them.

      The reality is that Blessing, for all of her ambitions, will never make it as an actress in Korea. And it's not b/c she's black. She may have all the talent in the world, but it doesn't really matter, at all. Why? Because everyone girl and boy right now wants to be a star of some sort -- whether it be as a dancer/actor/model/idol/singer/artist/etc., there's about 10 million of them and counting just waiting to get their chance to debut. Bottom line, even for full-blooded Korean kids, it's just not going to happen. We're talking about a market where you have a greater chance of winning the lottery. So in case you never get that callback, Korean kids -- including Blessing -- are well advised to have a Plan B, and C, and D, etc., b/c the road to even getting a job is a long and hard one in a country that has a real unemployment rate of about 25 percent -- this, despite all the government's fudging and manipulating that unemployment is only around 4 percent. (Hint: It's not as is actually about 6X that amount right now as of January, 2019.)

    I hope the daughter comes to love and value her natural hair, rather than trying to fit in with straight hair. But she's at that age where she wants to blend in with her friends. This is such a lovely family.
    SUPER LATE EDIT: Hello everyone! It’s been four years since I’ve made this comment. I’m glad y’all are still here. Just realized I wasn’t clear in my original comment that I am a Black woman (almost 40) who grew up going to PWIs, so my comment came from lived experience. Also, I’ve lived in an Asian country, so I can relate to the daughter’s experience in that regard. Ultimately, I hope she and her family are doing well and living their best lives.

      +teddymoon In reality, it's not just about fitting in, black ppl all over the WORLD have been brainwashed for generations in regards to their natural hair. A lot of black ppl, particularly black women, have been unlearning what our ancestors, grandparents, and parents have been taught about our natural hair. It's weird, to see this young black girl grow up in a society where barely anyone looks like her, and she's emulating/assimilating what they do. I mean, what black girl washes and blow dries her hair in the morning, like nonblack ppl do? Even when many of us were relaxed we didn't do that. That's very damaging to the hair, and ESPECIALLY if you are black/African. I hope she learns about her culture just as much as she's learning about Korea, she'll definitely need it. And with all the information on natural hair these days, it's still cringe worthy to see black ppl who haven't come across loving/embracing their hair naturally, because we can now see the damage that many of us USED to do to our hair, because it was a part of our culture to degrade our hair.

    Here we go with the Natural Nazis. Let the kid breathe. If she wants to straighten her hair let her be. Many of us permed our hair in our youth because our friends did. Let her come into her own. Just because she wants to straighten her hair doesn't mean she doesn't love her natural. I think if she really wants to get it that straight, she should relax it.

I don't know about those illegal foreigners in Korea, but Korean govt. actually provides various programs and well fairs for those who married Koreans or have Korean kids. They support them so many national subsidies and even kids don't pay their tuition till colleges if they are from the family from more than three kids. Monthly cash subsidy, free language programs, national insurance, free meals, postpartum helper programs, special qualification of job apply and college application, cell phone bill subsidy, transportation subsidy, grocery subsidy...

    “Africa has bad roads” Their are many different kinds of Africans with different cultures and governments, politicians, infrastructure and so on. Please stop making one African country a representative of the whole of Africa. This is how misunderstandings are created.

      Taurean Diamond 😂😂studying is nothing....living there is what's important.Not all countries have bad roads quite frankly...I know this because I've lived and visited various African countries and it's my home

    This is the moment where I cherish Germany Alot. They actually help imigrants till they able to get on their feet even before they are deem fit staying in Germany. It's not silver and gold here but Atleast my kids never had to worry about having basic things in life and healthcare because they really care about kids. Healthcare for me is the most important. You can't function well without good healthcare system but Germany got my back when I had nothing. Will always appreciate this country. I teach my kid the same because looking at where I come from, everything they get here is a previledge which they have to cherish dearly including the land,it's laws and the natives.

Also nice to see that the parents help other Africans and are receiving support from their Korean neighbors as well. I hope they fulfill their dreams.

    I feel like the people commenting on Blessing's hair need to realize that its not about YOU and YOUR choices, its about Blessing and HER choices alone. You aren't on the show telling your story, so please stop trying to dictate a MIDDLE SCHOOL teenager's please. Yes, natural hair was put down throughout western-dominated history, HOWEVER, Korea is a very homogeneous country where Blessing probably had her hair straightened b/c its the standard look for students. There are Koreans with naturally curly hair who have their hair straightened to appear as the dominantly straight-hair (student) population; exactly as Blessing does. Why make it a race thing? Please stop imposing your country's perspective and interpretation to this situation. Notice how it wasn't just straight hair, but the long padding jacket and all the other things that Blessing follows the trend on, as a TYPICAL KOREAN STUDENT. IN KOREA.
