Great topic! Im in the middle of reading "The Creature from Jekyll Island". Usury truly is a dragon that the West has embraced and will eventually lead to our destruction. 😊😢 Drawing the connection between usury, the reformation, the Anglo-Empire and ultimately the coming global security state has helped me reconstruct my worldview, which was shattered in 2020. Not really a happy topic, but it's real. Thanks. I really enjoy your quick little thought provoking podcasts.
There is usury, lending for profit and unethical investing, investing in immoral businesses. These subjects aren't boring. Both dominate Capitalism. Christian commerce bans both.
Nice! Will you cover finance next? Buying a stake at a business. I'd like to know how to deal with it, if it should be forbidden to buy or sell a piece of a business. It seems now with all the ESG regulations and financialization that being beholden to stock owners means a loss of identity. If everybody owns your company it's not your company, it's part of the blob.
Subbed for this! I would be so grateful if you could tie in some discussion on the subject of housing (renting, landlords, debt, mortgages, land ownership, slums, homelessness, etc). It's something that my husband and I have struggled mightily with for over a decade of marriage now. It has been very discouraging and we are trying to get some perspective and understand our role as parents and stewards within a Christian worldview, but find that it's not discussed in our parish or wider community despite being such a huge issue for so many. I'd also be very grateful for book recommendations!
The best trick is what banks do as a matter of everyday practice, create money out of thin air and loan it out at interest. If banks didn't do this, they would be insolvent. This is the bankers magical power, the power to create money and loan it out. All they need to do this is a piece of paper with a promise to pay. Question, why is it that only banks have this power? Why can't we all create money out of thin air and loan it to ourselves? What value does forcing people to go through a bank add?
He knew who the money chargers were and called them out. I wonder why he was persecuted for that? 🤔 Oh right, that seems to be a common tactic all throughout time. Look at today.
Thank you so much man.. this topic is like taboo in Western Europe. I cant even discuss this with my parents or friends before being cut off. Really strange but yeah that drives my curiosity even more of course😂
This is good stuff. Buying bonds, certificates of deposits, annuities, stocks, ETFs, etc., is lending money with the expectation of receiving interest. The new world chases exponential returns on investment that require exponential growth.
Indeed... and next week we'll get into what that requirement means for our modern mindset. It creates a type of expectation about what comes next that is deadly for mortals. Lending at interest weirdly helps to create a utopian brain, one that we worship and that we become.
When you get a loan, your work/life energy (both now and future) is the stock they are buying, your interest payment is your life energy (tine and effort=slavery...aka money) on said loan is their ROI.
Usury is ANY interest. Nehemiah 5 is scriptural proof text. Shylock promoted the lie that usury is "excessive interest". As if sodomy and adultery righteous; but "excessive sodomy and adultery" are sinful.
You said `none hates lending at interest more than Christianity' 1:53 I'd beg to differ. Here are a few verses from the Quran about it that might change your opinion: "Those who devour usury (riba) shall not rise again except as he rises, whom Satan of the touch prostrates; that is because they say, 'Trade is like usury (riba).' God has permitted trade, and forbidden usury (riba). ... give up the usury (riba) that is outstanding, if you are believers. But if you do not, then take notice that God shall war with you, and His Messenger; yet if you repent, you shall have your principal, unwronging and unwronged. ... " 2:275-2:280 It was narrated that Jaabir said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cursed the one who consumes riba and the one who pays it, the one who writes it down and the two who witness it, and he said: they are all the same. Narrated by Muslim (1598). “From al-Bara bin ‘Aazib from the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) It was narrated that Jaabir said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cursed the one who consumes riba and the one who pays it, the one who writes it down and the two who witness it, and he said: they are all the same. Yeah, but back then, afaik, there was no fiat currency or money-printing. If I lend you money at 0% today, and you pay me back in a year, I've lost money. Maybe loans should take place in gold instead of dollars.
Being a lender isn't the problem it's not obeying the Lords release, every seventh year lenders are to release his neighbour of his debt to you, Deuteronomy 15. The original lords prayer read forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors Deuteronomy was written around 630 B C in an attempt to revive Israelite laws
Lol. So you think the Christians run the money in amerikuh? Think again and put on your small thinking caps. Some call those yammikahs. The rulers of our monetary system wear the small caps. Prove me wrong.
They rule the money system, because for 1000 years the Roman Catholic Church has allowed Catholics to borrow from Jews. Then the Catholic Church used them as a scape goat to distract from the fact that they were involved in usury. The Roman Catholic Church is and has always been a servant of satan and is at the root of the problem.
Quite strange I went through the comments and did not find the word Jews mentioned not once. The monetary system certainly in America is dominated disproportionately by Jewish men. Just look at the Biden administration and notice the number of Jewish people in powerful position. We must not be afraid to highlight the fact that Jewish people weild a lot of power in the world financial system. Look at the influence of Jews at Havard University in getting rid of Claudine Gaye from her position look at the power of Edward Blum in overturning many Civil Right gain by Black people. All these comes from the power of Jewish old white men and their financial clout.

Oi vey! Don't point at the tribe responsible for it!
No. Capitalism is the culprit. The profit motive, or greed, is the problem.
@@talisikid1618 That's a surface level explanation. Evil goes much deeper than mere greed. That's childs play.
@@talisikid1618 People should be made accountable for the predatory practices they engage in. Capitalism is not the culprit.
Absolute gem of a channel. Surprised you don't have over 200k subscribers!
Im just catching up to this algorithm greatful i found it, Great insight great podcast, enlighten us on knights templar history? God bless🙏
So excited for next episode. This is one of the most important things that separates orthodoxy from protestantism and modern Christianity.

Freedom and liberty can only come when a person is self-sufficient. A person cannot be self-sufficient if they do not own their land.
@@ManIsKind369There’s no such thing as land ownership in America.

Usury is forbidden in islam too
One type of usury :If someone lend you money it's forbidden to return it with plus benefits
There is a excellent book about the history of Usury is called Forgive Us Our Debt by Michael Hudson.
Chrysostom wasn’t fond of taxes or redistribution of wealth either
He knew who the money chargers were and called them out.
I wonder why he was persecuted for that?

When you buy stocks you are not lending money though, you buy equity. Return on an investment is not usury.

Awesome episode, and definitely fascinating. Wonder what the Old World felt or would have felt about matched/multiplied donations.
Best comment ever. The hard part about being born into dirty water is realizing it's the only water in which you can ever swim.

Usury sounds exactly like insurance.
Look at the History of The Year Of Jubilee...the forgiveness of debt is atleast 4000years old going back to Mesopotamia..

usurp and usury have the same root word in latin. remember that.
Mort= death gage= grip. Hence death grip.
I think death refers to the ‘death’ of the loan, not the borrower. But yeah, it’s bad.
