    Ive actually came from Steam Deck and Oled when released to AllyX. I know what first Ally was, but battery was a big NO for me. Now I cant look back to Steam Deck, I do miss Oled screen, but ohh boy, everything works so much better, from installing whatever I want, not steam only or fidling about with linux to get it working (different game lunchers), to using and installing mods and this necessary bump to performance helps a ton to play with tech like afmf2 or fsr3 frame generation!
    I'm pushing Shadow of Erdtree to 70 - 80 fps, 1080p, high details with fsr3 frame gen mod on Ally X! Hardly any lag or glitches as much.
    Incredible!

      So I'm deciding wether I should get a Stead Deck or Rog Ally X, is the Rog worth it ? the idea of no setup worrys make's me think the Rog Ally X is better.

    • @Myosh03
      @Myosh03 5 дней назад

      @@christinekellylouisehaylet3724 both devices are great. Depands what you will really play. I think by now steam deck don't have much issues with loading different launcher games (might be wrong or it needs some 3rd party loader or something I've heard online).
      Ally X is still beyond deck with performance and battery life, technologies like frame gen are far easier and accessible on Ally X as well thanks to its 24gb ram,other thing is as well that looking at price of 1TB deck it's not far off price of Ally X, the difference justifies easy the bonuses that comes with Ally X. I can't stress enough the battery life is amazing, pushing Steam Deck Oled to limits gave me about 2h max when Ally X on a bit higher TDP then deck max (15w vs 17w) plays about 3h20min. Newest AAA games nowadays are to demanding for Deck to handle as well to get playeble framerate, when Ally on 25watts (2h15min battery life) let's you play this demanding new games at acceptable fps plus you can always slap frame gen to get to 60ish or above fps.
      I'm mind blown recently as I'm playing Silent Hill 2 remake and I've managed to run it in 50ish fps 900p low, fsr, frame gen...... with Ray tracing! Let that sink in... with Ray Tracing! Game looks night and day better, even at low settings and there's not much lag, some artifacts, but plays acceptable for me. Simply Incredible.
      Still miss Oled screen a bit tho ;)

    The right decision is pick either but ensure you put a bigger SSD in there and dual boot.
    SteamOS + Win11 if you're on SD OLED
    Bazzite + Win11 if you're on the ROG Ally X
    I've honestly found this a game changer on the SD OLED I have and having tried Bazzite it's a major plus for the ROG now.

I also bought a bunch of accessories and plan to run Bazzite which gives the steam experience as well as pc in dual boot , a dock to plug in a keyboard and mouse since I don’t have a pc yet and this becomes a portable one when I want it to. I have an original Ally and I think it's fantastic - if you're a PC tinkerer. It's not as easy and seamless out of the box the way the Steam Deck OLED is. But if you get joy out of tinkering with Windows a bit, you can really get a wonderful experience out of it. ASUS has also been doing an amazing job keeping it updated and supported.
    The Deck OLED screen has better colors, black levels, contrast, and viewing angles (and supports HDR), but the Ally and Ally X screens go up to 120hz, have VRR, and double the pixel density. And, while the colors and contrast aren't as nice, they're still pretty damn good. Much better than the Deck LCD. The screens really do trade blows.

    You need to include the ability to use universal frame generation technology like AFMF 2 and Lossless Scaling on the Ally X as a point of comparison. It literally doubles your framerate and the latency and artifacts have been reduced. The only way to accomplish this on the SD is by running Win11. I own an SD OLED and am contemplating a side grade to Ally X but will probably just wait for the Strix Point APU refresh. What I really want is the AMD Z1 Extreme in an SD OLED. Why this hasn't happened yet is beyond me. Van Gogh is not up to snuff for newer titles.

    Besides, they both are looking good, and they're both fantastic and they're both awesome.
    Now I can play all of the PC games on these two, except the none other profit.
    These two have windows games on it. Which is perfect.
    Although ASUS ROG Ally has more Windows games (unlike the Steam Deck, but it has more Windows games from Linux)
    Although ASUS ROG Ally and Steam Deck are both super cool. And also fantastic and cool (especially Lenovo Legion GO was the ASUS ROG Ally's teammate)
    Forgive me that I'm wrong but:
    ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion GO have the same feature in Windows 11

    Personally, the way I see it if you buy a ROG Ally X you're losing out on everything except raw power and resolution; and I'm looking at my games library and the only games I've played in the last two years that would perhaps benefit from more power than what a Steam Deck has would be MSFS, RDR2, BeamNG and Cities Skylines. The rest are VR games, which are their own thing, or older titles, indie titles, or emulated games, all of which the Deck is perfect for with its superior controls thanks to not only the number of buttons it has but also Steam Input customizability, and the size of the Deck userbase making it so every game on earth has deck-tailored settings and plugins and mods and stuff around somewhere. And if you're playing sweaty ass FPS's you're better off with the highly customizable Deck trackpads anyway over joysticks.
    And even in those 4 games I mentioned, I personally wouldn't touch any of them outside my gaming PC anyway. So I'm just sitting here wondering exactly what games people are so anxious to play on the go that that the Steam Deck can't handle.

    • @altanatmac9896
      @altanatmac9896 2 месяца назад

      first of all I can't believe you're actually being serious typing that people would rather buy the SD cause it has trackpads for their FPS games (when they barely run in the first place) second, your own choice of games run at least 20% better on the ROG ally X than your SD, wanting more performance and fps is not an issue of anxiety like you think it is. Knowing that no matter what games come out, no matter what resolution you choose or what happens inside of said game being able to enjoy a smooth 60 fps because of the VRR inside of the ROG ally X is just a benefit that the SD can't have and lastly there are games that the SD legit can't run, you should try and emulate PS3 or XBOX360 games on your SD as some barely reach 20fps for example my favourite games like GOW 3, infamous or demon's souls all run poorly, and even some AAA games that are in theory supposed to run on the SD don't cause the games are optimised poorly that's when having more performance comes in clutch because you still get a smooth experience that you otherwise wouldn't on a different console. I know I am not the only person in this case i don't think the SteamOS is that appealing like you think it is, sure windows has it's issues and it's not the best OS for handheld gaming, but you still get to enjoy all the games with all the setups that you want and all game launcher, for example I have the xbox game pass and i still have steam games and being able to run both on the same device is just a given i would never want to give up on. And let's just not talk about running elden ring for barely more than a hour on a SD where you get at least 2 and half hour on the ally X.

      @altanatmac9896 the control options for the steam deck are one of the biggest reasons why I'm picking it over the ROG Ally. it's not ridiculous at all, what's ridiculous is denying the fact that some people experiment with control setups and what works for one person might not for others. One, you compared the 1tb deck to the ally which most people will buy the cheaper deck and an ssd or just pocket the extra $100
    Two, People need to bring up company reputation and support. No offense to Asus, but they have a terrible support record. They cut corners on everything they make and have had some pretty shady consumer facing blunders the last 5 or so years.
    Valve, although not perfect obviously, has a better track record. They also have put all the schematics online for people to tinker with. There's a MUCH bigger install base so there's there's MUCH more community driven mods, programs and tinkering happening on the deck. Replacement parts are more thought out with the deck as well and not just one huge board like in the ally.
    There's a lot of little things to consider but ultimately I think more people would be happy with the deck over the ally, if nothing else then for the support from both valve and the community.
