Tuomas writes the complete song as a demo and sends it out to the others. They familiarize themselves with it, then the whole band comes together for a summer camp in the Finnish wilderness, where they set up a studio, and arrange and rehearse the songs together before recording them in September/October. During this process, everyone has the opportunity to provide input, and some songs change a great deal, plus the arrangement is done by the band together. For example, the new album Human. :||: Nature. has extensive three-way vocal harmonies (Floor, Marco and Troy) on almost every chorus; the three arranged those themselves. Orchestral arrangement is then done by professional arranger Pip Williams in London with input from Tuomas. Mixing is normally also done with Tuomas present. So the songs are very much Tuomas' babies, but with some input from the others. Floor of course decides on her own HOW to sing, i.e. phrasing, voice quality, dynamics, emotion etc. ahead of the rehearsal sessions. Marco writes the occasional song, maybe one in fifteen. Floor used to co-songwrite in her own bands and is co-writing with an old bandmate for her upcoming solo album, but has stated about Nightwish that she doesn't feel the need to write because she admires Tuomas' writing so much. Also, you probably don't know this, but she had a severe burnout about 2011/2012, just before she was asked to sing for Nightwish, due to overworking herself for her old band ReVamp (performing, rehearsing, writing, management, bookkeeping... at the same time as teaching singing and co-building a music school), plus she's been diagnosed as an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person, a character configuration where impressions engage such a person more than average, are more likely to be processed emotionally-which may play a part in making her such a great singer-and thus cause more mental work and higher stress levels) so I think she's actually glad that she can concentrate on singing and performing with the rest taken care of.
@@carlosmunoz7747 you forget his quote every good metal song has a guitar solo in the beginning in the middle and in the end........ but Tuomas doesent agree on that. lol
I'd say was pretty comfortable with Nightwish already during the Wacken 2013 concert. When band members are pulling pranks on each other, that sounds comfortable to me.
Try “7 days to the wolves” from that same concert for something even more intense, or “Weak Fantasy” from Tampere for a pissed-off Floor - both are written for Floor, and not the old vocalists :)
Great job AT! This was a beautiful up tempo song to start the Wembley show. Loved you reaction a nd comments about this one and I look forward to the weekly edition. Hopefully? Take care my friend. See you then. Peace.
Great reaction. Tuomas writes about 95% of all the songs. Marco sometimes helps him with some of the compositions though and I believe Marco is the initial composer on one or two of the songs with Tuomas helping him. Then what's been written is given to the rest of the band in the form of a demo and the other members then have their input, sometimes changing how the song originally sounded. So every member adds something to the song. Tuomas doesn't expect the other members to just play exactly what he has written if their ideas are actually better or enhance the song even more.
The band, the compositions, are different now. The older stuff you've been listening to laid the bedrock for current Nightwish. The latest album is absolutely one of their best, and lots of it DOESN'T immediately make you go, "Oh that's a Nightwish song." I mean, they do now since I've heard them a lot, but when I first gave Human || Nature a listen or 10, I knew I liked it but there was only a couple of songs that had the sound I was expecting. Tuomas is constantly evolving, and we take him as he is, because he's yet to evolve into something that isn't super interesting and mesmerizing.

Different albums, different tours.. Many of the Imaginaerum album songs had a fantasy/mystical type vibe.. I get a definite power metal vibe from this album.. Next album, different again.. There is no set standard, songs are created around how Toumas is feeling and whatever happens to inspire him at the time.. And, I personally believe he has less restrictions, or more flexibility to expand his writing choices now.. They were both good in their own way, but I can't see either of the other two previous singers of Nightwish attempt songs like this, especially live, with everything cranked up ten times to enhance the performance.. I think they can do that now, without fear of drowning out the vocals of Floor's monster voice.
Well, if you want me to show you how the music comes to be, here is The Making of the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful 2015 (playlist): ruclips.net/video/BB1IrA8FwrY/видео.html Also, if you want Toumas to tell you how he writes, I suggest this interview: ruclips.net/video/49L6WqxBE98/видео.html
Floor brings an energy, power and versatility to the band that just makes music perfection. Marco is the best male voice in metal and his voice overall can cross any genre. I have never seen Nightwish live but I will for sure next year. Watch ruclips.net/video/FZa9fze_AFc/видео.html This is the making of the Album that song is off. +Oliphant comment sums it up perfect how the band as a whole writes an album.
As far as I know Tuomas makes detailed demos of his songs and gives them to other members of Nightwish and they can make suggestions for some changes. Then Tuomas decides if the suggested changes make the song better. He is open for suggesions. The Islander is Marko's composition. My Walden, Weak Fantasy and The Greatest Show on Earth, music by Tuomas and Marko Yours Is an Empty Hope and Weak Fantasy, lyrics by Tuomas and Marko I know that much.
hi im steve 48 uk subscribed huge nightwish fan .the difference here to wacken is jutka the drummer left due to insomnia.new drummer here is kai .and for somthing even more recent check out nightwish. Devil and the deep dark ocean live buenos aires 2018 .hope u ok
Tuomas said that on the last album, the first song Music was completely changed from the demo to the recorded song and he also said that some songs are recorded as is, so it depends.
Tuomas says he used to write songs for the singer style & capability but with Floor he writes anything because she can figure out the best way to sing it . Please check this one out "I Want My Tears Back" live in -Buenos Aires , alot of crowd action there
Tuomas is the maestro but they all have input in rehearsals. Marco has written some parts on EFMB album. Tuomas writes also fantastic lyrics, like poems really. Every member in Nightwish is a huge talent. Kai is one of the best drummers ever. He can play jazz and everything...
I will try again, trying.for BabyMetal "Catch Me If You Can" live at Black Night Legend Doomsday show Super hard and super fun, 3 guitar solos, drum solo, monster Riffs, Headbanging with a Smile!!! Love to see reaction, BabyMetal at there Best!!!

And Emppu writes all his solos and is amazing how he never over does it, just the right amount and in the best melodic way posible

”Marko brings out what was best about 80’s metal”. That’s because he’s been on the metal scene since the 80’s.😀
Why don't we hear this music on US radio? It beats the crap out of the most of the stuff we hear now!!!!!
This is how to open a show in Wembley Arena!

A real beautiful song sung by Marko is Kiss while your lips are still red. From Wembley.

Nice reaction. This is one of my biggest favorite Nightwish live performance.
