I have seen many videos saying not to go past 50% for sunroofs. That the darker tint will absorb to much heat and if it rains or other factors will cause it to shatter. Im asking because i purchased 5% LLamar nano ceramic for my sunroof. But now im scared that i went to dark and cause it to shatter. I live in Central Michigan. I'm waiting for the tint to arrive. But now I am wondering if I just wasted money on tint I can't use.

We haven't had any customers have an issue with tinting darker on sunroofs - we have been tinting for over 10 years! There are certain vehicles that we must be careful with - newer vehicles with technology in the sunroofs for example.

I have a 2015 explorer. Do think I would have a problem going to 5% on both sunroofs?I would be using LLumar nano ceramic 5%. And thank you for the fast responses!

@@franklosh2110 We don't believe you would have any problem but we aren't familiar with the newer Llumar films. You should double check with your tint installer to confirm. For reference, we use Black Ceramic tint by Autobahn which blocks 60% infrared heat and we also use i3 Ceramic tint by Autobahn which blocks 93% infrared heat.

I'm going to be the installer. I have installed tint a few times. But never a sunroofs or panoramic one.

Nice video. I have heard that tinting the sunroof is a bad idea. Is there truth to it? Thanks.

Hi Fred. We’ve been tinting them for about 12 years and have had zero issues. In most cases, you only hear the bad things that actually had glass issues and not tinting issues.

Would it be safe to tint over factory tints if you have a panoramic sunroof?

I am planning to tint big moon-roof approximately 1x2m as new Ford Tourneo Custom (2024+) does not offer any curtain on such car (pure craziness!).
They said, that it's about tint sun rays absorbsion 70%+ versus rejection. (rejection should not heat window as much, but absorbsion means heat will transfer to glass itself - which might be problematic.)
That's my understanding of how tint/glass issue my show up. Still almost 9 months until we'll see car, so I don't know yet :)
