Nice fishing, but next time before you go out fishing, you should look up the regulations and learned about the different types of groundfish out there. Cabezons have to be 15”. Lingcods have to be 22” with a bag limit of 2. Rock greenlings and kelp greenlings have to be minimum of 12 inches. Anyway, you get the point, learn the different fish in our waters and what the regulations are for each species. And carry a measuring tape, fish and game can ding you for that too.
Thanks for letting me know for next time... that Cabazon was huge... it was definitely about 15 inches or more because i had a difficult time fitting it on the pan when i tried to cook it... thanks for the warning. What about the regular rock cod? What is the minimum length?

I like the harbor side because the ocean side can be dangerous due to the
waves crashimg on the rocks.
