I had known OF Night Vale for a while, but only really decided to put it on to keep my mind occupied whilst on my way to, during, and back from a tedious job. Actually hearing A Story About You coming out of my radio speakers as I was driving home in the dark was... A religious experience, to say the least.
Just a friendly reminder that the reason 'This song fits the Welcome To Night Vale theme so well!' Is because, this being the pilot episode, nobody had actually sent in or submitted songs to be featured because the podcast didn't actually exist yet. Joseph, the creator of WTNV, made this song purely for the podcast, singing it himself. So, ladies, gentlemen, and all you people of non defined genders, or who wear hoods that make it impossible to tell otherwise, the reason this first song fits the Welcome To Nightvale theme so well is because it was written purely to fit the theme in the first place.

I remember sitting at my desk, coursework pushed aside for the time being, with this song washing over me. Twenty minutes before I'd known nothing of the town of Night Vale, and now I knew a little piece of me now lived in this charming, terrifying, beautiful place. There's just something so lovely and profound about both this song and the series as a whole.
My baby niece has loved this song ever since I showed it to her while listening to the pilot, and refers to it as "The purple song"

My mom played this episode while on a road trip just trying out random podcasts and when it got to the weather I was like wait.. can you put it back to the news report thingie I kinda liked listening to it and my mom said that she didn’t do anything and she didn’t know what happened to it and fumbled around with her phone a bit and eventually the weather ended and I thanked my mom for changing it back and she was confused and I was confused that she was confused

I remember one of the first liveshows, I swear Jason Webley sang this song as a gift to Mr fink and that version lives rent free in my head 24/7 but I can't find it anywhere and I no longer have the apple account that had the show downloaded, let alone which show it was

I'll always be grateful for Welcome to Night Vale, i think. I didn't even know I was queer yet but Cecil just... first episode saying he's fallen in love with another man, that hit me hard. Lol, If it makes you feel any better, when I heard Josephs voice at the beginning of the episodes, I thought it was kevin at first.
They are really similar, so I assumed so. And the lyrics are fitting, but I guess they fit both Night Vale and Desert Bluff (or at least what we know about DB, besides the fact that their baseball team is just terrible).
I mixed up his and kevin's voice at 19B too
I love this the first time I heard it. It reminded me of late night jamming and cold breeze. It's raw and organic-sounding, so I love it.

I first listened to the podcast this past January. I was sitting at my kitchen table playing the Sims 4 and trying to place a tree house on a lot when the dog park was first mentioned. This wasn't the first "weather" I had ever heard. The first podcast I listened to was "A Story About You" and the weather segment really confused me. I was waiting for the weather report that never came. :D Having realized what I was listening to I started properly from the pilot to listen to the rest.

A friend of mine said this song was terrible. After listening to if for the 2nd time he started to like it. I felt similar when I've heared it for the first time
it was in september of 2014 that i broke my wrist while walking to school. i met with my friend half-way and we always spent some time in a playground before continuing our walk, and the sun was just barely rising as we stood on the swings (they were wet as it had rained and we didnt want to get our skirts wet so standing it was). i got a bit too enthusiastic and fell forward, my right wrist crushing under my body-weight. i was a bit in shock and tried to pick my bag up with my broken wrist, and i only relized something was wrong when i couldnt close my hand. we continued walking the 20 minutes to school (god bless adrenaline) and she took me straight to the nurse, who removed my blazer to reveal my mangled wrist, all grey and blue and purple with red veins, bone nearly poking out from my skin. that was when i cried, not from the pain but because it was so disgustingly ugly. i remember begging her to to just cut it off because it was so ugly. anyway, she called my dad, ho took me to hospital, waited in a&e for 4 hours before being seen. the adrenaline had long worn off so it HURT. badly. endured the most painfuk x-ray of my life before being put in a half-cast and sent home overnight, having to fast beofre my 8am surgery the next day. i sat downstairs on the sofa, wrist aching, not being able to sleep. it was around 2am and i was browsing youtube when this song popped up, and i listened to it, having already raided ao3 for all the fanfictions i was interested in. and i fell in LOVE. immediately searched up welcome to nightvale, and thus began my obsession.
wow. That’s such a cool story. Too bad no one else is ever going to read it. But at this very moment, at this very time, I have read it, and I have liked it, and that that is more than enough.

Personally, I think that the song is awesome but Joseph's singing is somewhat lacking. He's a great writer, but getting someone else to do a cover of the song might be a good idea.
