    I've often wondered who wrote the law that says these huge, yellow machines making so much noise and just so _big_ need to have a little, yellow flashing light on top that you can barely even see.
    I thought I'd add I do geology contract work here and there for mining companies here in the states and some have rules that you have to wear an orange vest while inside and operating machines like this one. I think it's just something to make critical thinkers go crazy. ;)
    Thank you for all of your videos. We love this stuff.

      You have to wear a hard hat when doing earthworks? So your head is protected when your run over by a dozer or a scraper? They said we had to wear them when operating a machine with ROPS cab why?

      I agree.. what irritates me is how pretty much every State, County, and Township/Municipality lack a uniform code or requirement on safety laws.. My company works on pipelines and Right of ways.. we have 3 locations that serve as a base for projects in the area.. All 3 of those locations have a "Safety inspector/manager" that gets paid 100k a year to go around and conduct piss tests and make sure that the crew foreman does the daily safety meeting and has the paper work is in order..
      I don't know what the rules are where this Dozer is operating but here Highway Trucks that haul oversize are required to have a safety beacon light.. it doesn't matter what kind anything from a Zip tied Wal-Mart strobe to a full blindingly bright LED light Bar.. Our trucks are clean and shiny with chrome headache racks and the full light bar on top and LED strobes in the grill and air cleaner.. With the lights on at night you can probably see the truck from space!

      Back in early ‘70s, on an interstate building project, after the initial blue top was complete, the quarry, opened on site to provide stone, had a whole parade of tandem dumps show up the first morning, ready to haul. State inspector ran them all off of the job because they didn’t have a third axle under the bed. They hung around long enough for the inspector to explain the specs of such a rig. About all he could find out was that an additional axle with wheels on the road when the truck was loaded. The next morning all of them trucks showed up again to haul rock. As soon as they were loaded, and the truck hit it’s overloads, the 3rd axle sat nicely on the haul road. Them axles consisted mostly of a galvanized pipe with a bicycle wheel on each end and hanging beneath the frame on two chains welded to the pipe and frame. They were legal according to the rules.

      Hasta que llegan al piso duro, el cat no es para trabajo duro , por que crees que este 475 esta haciendo ese trabajo, antes de eso tenian un D11 y simplemente no pudo con material tan duro... a lo mejor es un poco mas lento pero por eso los utilizan en estos tipos de trabajo, Cat a mi parecer es mas comercial. slds.

    I run the same model tractor for awhile and i have to say that I was quite disappointed and would much rather work every day in a D11T any day of the week. The 475 just feels very lazy to operate and the Cat high sproket system rides better when you're running on hard ripped rock all day long.

      Assolutamente, questo 475 ha sostituito un D11R che non riusciva a rippare nel duro. I Komatsu, come i vecchi Fiat Allis 41B o FD50, hanno sempre tirato di più dei CAT. CAT ha sempre avuto buon marketing ed un sacco di fanboy.

    • @AwesomeEarthmovers
      @AwesomeEarthmovers  6 лет назад +4

      JIGA BACHI The 575 is quite a bit bigger but I think only around 50 were ever produced and there’s probably only a fraction of them still working. Komatsu stopped production of them until there’s a bigger demand as far as I know.

    • @GIGABACHI
      @GIGABACHI 6 лет назад +1

      Interesting, I never knew they ceased production of the bigger beast, I imagined very few and far apart were still produced but not that they had halted production entirely until demand comes back(if ever).
      Probably is just CAT fans spreading bad word about it but every time I read comments on any YT videos between the 2 people always say how finicky and unreliable machines they were compared to the CAT D11.

    • @AwesomeEarthmovers
      @AwesomeEarthmovers  6 лет назад +11

      JIGA BACHI I cant really comment on their reliability when compared to a Cat D11 but I do know the 475 in the video replaced a D11R that couldn’t cope with ripping the rock in the quarry. They actually had a Komatsu 375 before and then when the Silica sanddeposits got too hard they had to hire in the D11R. They then chose to go with Komatsu again when it came to buying a 100 tonne class dozer. Without doubt Cat produce outstanding dozers but I’ve never heard anyone say any Japanese produced machinery was unreliable.

  • @c8055
    @c8055 5 лет назад +1

    A straight blade on a 475 makes absolutely no sense to me. This machine needs a “U” blade. This would allow the machine to move twice the amount of material with each pass.

    • @Agnemons
      @Agnemons 4 года назад +2

      Straight blade penetrates better on hard ground, reduces the need to rip. U blade is good for softer, easily penetrated ground. Semi U is, of course, a compromise between the two.

    The cost of that dozer is ridiculous. It's so heavy it wears out the undercarriage rollers in no time. Man cannot make a bearing heavy enough to handle the weight of that machine. I'd love to hear the quote of "it's a thousand dollars an hour" to operate. It works though. I mean seriously other than mining, you'd never need that.
    A Cat D8 will do it all so long as it isn't mining.

    I don't know about the new current models ,but I unfortunately know about the older 455.s I think that is what's now a 475 . I'll have to check n see .
    I bought a brand new one ,from Brandeis equipment sales
    In 1994 .
    I should have.
    known that the price difference in it and the Cat D11N should have told me something.
    The.first.18.months.the 475 was.a.bear . It could really push the rock . How after 18 months everything started breaking down on it. By the time it was a little over 2 years old I just parked it.,.and.purchased.2.new. D11Rs.
    I worked them in shot sandstone for almost 10 years ,and only had to do normal wear and tear maintenance. Like rebuild the undercarriage, and overhaul the engines.and hydraulic system . And they hit the ground running again. I sold my operation about 5 years ago, and to my knowledge ,both of the 11Rs are still pushing rock ,every day. Now that's a true machine.

    • @AwesomeEarthmovers
      @AwesomeEarthmovers  6 лет назад +5

      c8055 it’s not a straight blade, it’s a semi U rock blade. The dozers primary purpose is to rip and then put it into piles with short pushes.

    • @FatCatGotHot
      @FatCatGotHot 6 лет назад +2

      Regarding that the ripped material pushed LOOKS quite loose, I had just the same idea. Many quarry dozers in Germany have U-blades. But looking at the time needed to fill the SU-blade, it seems like those guys have made the right choice...
