This was my wife's absolute favorite song. I sang it to her on her our wedding day and again the day of her funeral. Listening to it is a bit like a quick visit with her again.

I just found out this song existed after seeing these beautiful signs for sale with the 1st verse. I'd never heard it before, and I love Tom Petty. His songs and his voice make me smile and relax. But The Wailin' Jennies, who I absolutely ADORE, I closed my eyes, inhaled deeply, and felt my soul smile.

When I first heard this, I wasn’t in a good place emotionally; It’s easy to let the world take you down.
I’ve always dreamt of making my way about the world getting right with myself, living by my own rules, and hopefully finding the girl I’m meant to find.
I guess it was just nice to hear a perfect song that fit that perspective.

This version of this song is just absolutely beautiful. I used to sing it to my cat until he crossed the rainbow bridge in March of 2020 because of kidney failure. 12 years is not a long time but he belongs among the wildflowers and somewhere he feels free.
This cover gives so much depth to it, it makes me cry each time I hear it, and it did before my personal association with my deceased beloved companion.

So, today my best friend, the amazing artist in multiple forms of expression including songwriting, shared a photograph he took of beautiful yellow wildflowers. My inner turntable immediately cued up Tom Petty. I searched and listened to him sing this song, and then over on the side list, almost overlooked like a tiny wildflower on a run through the woods, was this cover waiting for me. I am surprised I never found it before, as I have loved the song "One Voice" by the Jennys for many years. But I am here now, and enchanted by these girls and their angelic voices again. I am here, listening, and I feel free.
