For anyone that is having trouble with your text disappearing, the effect starts at the beginning of your comp. Open up the Effects > Shatter > Force 1 dropbox under your text layer, then highlight and move your Radius keyframes to where you need your shatter effect to begin. After a lot of exploring around (and frustration) I was able to figure this out lol hope it helps!! :)
For me it worked like this: Go to the point, when you want the effect to start. Set radius of "Force 1" (Effect -> Shatter -> Force 1 -> Radius) to 0,00. Add a keypoint. Few secounds later add a keypoint with an accurate radius like 0,5 or so. Watch the whole thing explode
Why does my layer disappear in my comp when i add shatter. I also have drop shadow and motion blur added......when I add shatter, the layer disappears even if I choose rendered in the drop down box
Hey if you still have this question.. on the current version go to force 1 drop down menu and select radius keyframes and adjust it to 0 where you want it to start and adjust so forth.
Thank you so much! Needed this! All the tutorials I see, the stuff automatically shatters, but they never tell us which settings and keyframes to adjust. this really helped me!
Hi ! Is it possible to avoid the fall of the elements ? I would like to make fragments of glass that spin around (I'm not sure about this expression, I'm french, I mean the fragments urn on themselves but they don't go in any direction, and they don't fall). I tried the options of the physics section but I didn't find how to avoid the fall. :O

+Splitter I think that You need the value of gravity to drop to 0 and viscosity should go to 1.0, use hold keyframes to make a sudden stop). That should freeze the scene ;)
I have to make a heart animation that crushes into pieces with a plastic bottle popping out of it for my school project. It's about plastic pollution. I'm still trying to figure out how to do that lol.
It drives me crazy Final Cut has a very simple transition effect to do this, even on text, and PC users need to brake their heads with this unpredictable-overcomplicated effect that requires a PHD in physics to understand. Any way, thanks!

Strange. I have a video layer with a text layer on top. I don't get bricks I get a circle with several lines running through the center. When I change the view to 'Render' the circle AND the text disappears :(

nice work man
+alprens hamo Thank you!
You described details better then the rest of the same tutorials. Thank you!
thanks this is what i have been looking for so long.
How to set the starting time to shatter?
Yes that's my question too
For me it worked like this:
Go to the point, when you want the effect to start.
Set radius of "Force 1" (Effect -> Shatter -> Force 1 -> Radius) to 0,00.
Add a keypoint.
Few secounds later add a keypoint with an accurate radius like 0,5 or so.
Watch the whole thing explode
just split the image/video at the wanted time and add the shatter effect on the second one
@@luciandemciuc3960 it doesn't work for me:-/

check the view or show options under the effects. sometimes it says wireframes or sometimes it says something else. set it to rendered.
Simple and easy tutorial, you're one of the best. Thanks
Thanks bro exactly what i was looking for. I wanted to create a drought effect this helps
Cool
Thanks for the great explanation of the effect.
When I add the shatter and do the stuff you told in the video... The clip has a ”blackhole” .. And nothing else
Straightforward and brief. Thanks!
Hey brother thanks for making the video, very helpful for first time user, appreciate it.
This was great. Thank you.
thanks man.....i needed this
I need help, when I press rendered, my text disappears
Did you ever find a solution to this? It's happening to mine.

Nicely done!
Hi, nice tutorial, i have a question, when i use glass pattern, how to frozen it when it just a little bit broken??
Amigo no tengo el.efecto Shatter... donde lo.puedo con seguir... ya lo he buscado por todas partes y no lo hallo....
What if the text is a 3d layer? Even when I set it to rendered it just turns invisible.
same problem here lol
thank you master! God Bless you!
Is there a way that I can change the in point?
Good Work
G = 9.81 m/s, nicely done sir.
thank you it is amazing
thanks man
good one
learned a lot
thank you
+Sathish reddy Kalluri You're welcome!
is it possible to reverse it?
How can you get it so the shatter does not happen straight away? I want it to show the text for a few seconds and then shatter
+ODUDEofficial You just need to adjust the animation keyframes.
which keyframes please ?

Can this apply to 3d motion tracked logos?

Thank you!
Thank you so much ☺️ i love you 😘
First man haven't watched the whole thing yet ;)
I am brazilian very good!!!

Did you figure it out yet?
how would you make the text stay normal for a bit then shatter when you want it to later in the composition?
just keep the keep keyframe at stock properties at the beginning and when u want it do the stuff and play....
it doesen't do anything if i apply the shatter effect
You have to put in values before it does anything, also you have to put the view option within the shattered effect to rendered. as seen on: 1:20
It drives me crazy Final Cut has a very simple transition effect to do this, even on text, and PC users need to brake their heads with this unpredictable-overcomplicated effect that requires a PHD in physics to understand. Any way, thanks!
