Well, swedes are a little sneaky, we spend the 80’s scanning the music from USA and Great Britain and then in the 90’s we took it all and made it better and dominated the world! (Evil laughter!)
I was a deejay in the 80’s so the music people listened to was mostly music from the dance floor, it was before the internet so we as deejays went to London and bought all good records we could find and that is one explanation why we had a lot of British good music. And in the 80’s you could as a deejay play everything from rock to disco and people danced

A lot of the Swedish artists were singing in english, like Secret service, Europe, Lillie & Suzi, Jerry Williams etc.

In Sweden, we have been listening to pop and rock from both the USA and Great Britain since the 1950s. Early on, we had many good rock bands in the 60s who sang in English. They were the ones who laid the foundation for the great The pop wonder now

RIP Jerry Williams. One of our best Rockers of all time. Did I Tell You was one of his biggest hits. You can't go wrong with him.

I didn't count, but around half of them, perhaps 60%, were Swedish, and we have always been interested in music from other places so I don't think that's bad.
Also, this was a list of music that was popular with the general public. Most of them were disliked or even hated by me and my friends

      2:42 Attack "Ooa hela natten"
4:28 Agnetha Fältskog "The Heat is On"

Exactly what I was thinking, and some of the songs he said he didn't know are classics and still play on UK radio/on TV programmes like TOTP 2 + music video channels on Freeview etc
Also many other Swedish acts also had top 20 hits-but he was just playing number ones. I'm from UK in England BTW
