At my high school, they fixed the grades of the football and basketball players, but they fixed them too well. One player was a straight-A student and was offered an academic and athletic scholarship to college. Upon his arrival, the college discovered he was functionally illiterate. The school also had a bad habit to diverting all fundraiser proceeds to the football team, regardless of what they said the cash was being raised for.
In my high school this one kid who was really nice and kind and an actual basically saint died of a blood clot in the hospital while he was in the hospital fighting for his life with blood clots do to issues do to when he was born his mother died during child labor and he ended up having medical issues. I wrote his family which he was living in our city under the care of a medical treatment house but his only living family was his grand mother who raised him and I wrote her a letter showing my actual sympathy and sorrow because he was a kid I loved hanging out with and his grandmother lived on a Native reservation and she was so happy to get any kind of anything at all that she was trying to sell stuff to get a ride down to my school but a random guy told her her her stuff he will drive her where she needed to go. She drove 17 hours and I got called out of class to go meet her. She was so happy that someone actually cared to show anything to her for the loss. Not a single person aside from a few teachers talked to her at all. I actually saved the letter I wrote up on the computer onto a flash drive that I literally keep inside of an old medicine bottle of mine with basically the only thing on that flash drive is that letter. Then less than 3 weeks later this absolute piece of garbage kid who was the same age had his cousin drive him and kid nap an 11 year old girl who rejected to ever want to be around him who he called his ex who he had raped multiple times well him and his cousin broke into her house, kid napped her, drugged her and forced alcohol down her throat all night long and they literally took her to 3 parties where they let dozens of people brutally rape every hole of her body and when on the way to another house to have her be used even more his cousin was drunk off his ass so was he they drove onto the wrong side of the freeway and crashed into a car that had a wife and husband and their 4 children that was coming come from from another city after they were at a funeral for the kids grandparent and the cousin of the kid was the only person to survive after the crash killing all 6 people in that other car and the guy who went to my school and the girl that was brutally raped according to reports there was over 100 different men's semen inside of her. The mother of the dead piece of garbage and the mother of the cousin who lived were trying to fight the court system saying that their kid should not be sentenced to prison at all let alone life in prison. The judge was a fair and respectful judge and he threw the book at the monster and the kid ended up getting sentenced to the death penalty. The mothers joined this one organization that I have not heard much about them for over a decade most likely because they were a group of drunk crazy women who called themselves M.A.D.D. which means Mothers Against Drunk Driving. If they really were against drunk driving maybe they should have been better parents because here is a reality 100% of all members of that cult were mothers of children who drunk drove and died with many of their drunk driving children killing someone else and they wished to try and get their children removed from prison without consequences. Messed up reality is people called the kid who sexually harassed that 11 year old girl and raped her and got so pissed off when her family put a restraining order on his he kid napped her yea that piece of garbage people thought he was a hero. Many teachers respected that I didn't give a crap what people thought I called him a monster. I didn't speak ill because to speak ill is to lie and I don't lie. I called it as it was. He was a piece of garbage. I ended up gaining the respect of this one teacher who literally told me she respects truly honest people who don't give a care about what other think. She said I am worth respecting which is funny because she was the English teacher that everyone feared because she looked exactly like the ice which from Narnia The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe except people always said the Ice Witch was nicer and less deadly especially when this one kid threw a stuffed animal at her and without looking she grabbed it before it hit her back of her head without turning around and she full repelled that stuffed animal right back into the kids face without slowing down writing on the chalkboard and the stuffed animal slammed into the kids face so hard it threw him out of his chair slamming his butt onto the ground and she said without missing a beat to put it away or next time she is keeping it. People feared her and I gained that kind of a person as an ally in school. I was the nerd who spoke his mind no matter if I got bullied or not. Many kids hated me for calling him a monster but I didn't care and I still don't care. If you were a piece of garbage speaking ill would be to lie about who you were. The year book comity students wanted to put 10 pages dedicated to him and they refused to even add the actual good kid to the book at all. The teacher over seeing it also liked me and in fact I became he second favorite student of all time. I miss my friend. He should not have died from that blood clot. He always had a smile on his face that could light up the night sky. I always smile when I am out and about to keep that spirit alive and spirit of true happiness. He had such a kind heart one time we were just walking around and 7 humming birds landed right on him and just started just sitting there and letting him pet them. It was weird and cool. He gained the support of humming birds which was awesome.
About 5 years after I graduated, a special ed math teacher at my high school was discovered to have been inappropriately messaging with a then 16-year old student when he was in his mid 40's. He resigned and turned himself in to the police when the warrant was issued for his arrest and received 40 years with 12 to serve approximately a year and a half later.
My school got put on Craigslist when I was a junior, the kid that put it up wasn't allowed to walk at graduation (it was his senior prank), so his favorite band gifted him an all access pass and let him walk at rockfest, oh, and the school district got sued by his parents, so now unless you don't qualify for graduation you can't not let someone walk in my state😅😅
Had a bomb threat five minutes before we got out of school. We had to stay for an extra two hours while the police searched the whole school and everyones backpacks. There was also the time we had an active shooter, had the swat show up as well as k-9s. Luckily he never got in but we saw him running by the window through the field
I'm not sure if one could exactly call these scandals, but here's what I remember from my time in school: 1) My elementary school was down the road from Foxcatcher Farm, and I remember making sympathy cards for the children of David Schultz (who also went to the same school at that time). 2) A mother of a student at this same elementary school (I was in high school then) sued the school district for suspending her son after he was asked to bring in his favorite book and he brought in the Bible. 3) Sophomore year of high school, our principal retired and a new one took over. Not long after, he began asking for donations for his wife who had cancer, and we all did what we could to help. He left after less than a year (if I recall correctly), and while most of the teachers and administrators kept mum about the circumstances of his departure, it soon became known that he had (supposedly) been embezzling from the school.
That last one definitely is a scandal, and that first one led to me reading up on something I'd never heard about. How _terrible_ for all those affected.
@@tejaswoman Indeed. I used to pass by the estate every time I went to my pediatrician's office, and I shudder to think what took place there. Fortunately, Mr. DuPont passed away in prison a few years ago, and what was once Foxcatcher Farm is now a housing development and school campus.
the only one that happened was a lunch lady set something on fire so we had to stand outside in the middle of winter. Then later that day a pipe exploded in the same kitchen so we had to stand outside again. quite a few kids didn't have coats or proper protection from the cold because they didn't expect to be outside for long that day.
oh and in elementary school, the mother of two well know students getting shot she wasn't killed (though someone else who I assume didn't have kids was) but she was permanently paralyzed.
oh and a kid getting arrested in the middle of lunch in middle school for what was rumored to be doing and/or selling weed (this was before it was legalized in our state).
"Turdzilla" Someone left a deposit in the boys bathroom that was the size of half a baseball bat. The top half. So many of us used a bathroom pass that day to bear witness to the monster and try to flush it. Rumor has it the janitor has to get a shovel
1: In elementary school my 4th grade teacher got arrested and from what I figured out turns out she was using the teaching license and fake name of a female teacher who died in 1958 even though this was in like 1998. She ended up going to jail in California for identity theft. I don't know if anyone ever knew her real name. I always hated that teacher she gave me way too much homework to the point I was up until 2 am each night doing the mountains of homework she gave me and everyone. I was tired 90% of the time trying to keep up with her insane amount of homework. Basically the amount of homework you would get a month in middle school she would give that amount each day. My parents even complained to the school about how insanely much homework she gave. I was coming home each night with 1000 pages of homework a night. She also turns out never graded any of it and just gave people a random grade. 2: In my middle school a boy was going to have sex with a girl but she had to cancel because she had a dentist appointment and he got so pissed thinking she lied to him he pulled a knife on her at school and then police were called when police were arresting him his mother who was a teacher pulled the cop's gun out of his holster and pointed it at the cops and she got tased by about 100 cops from dam near every angle. I was a teachers assistant as my 3rd and 4th class during the days and the teacher was suppose to be in the room I was in where the self contained classroom was. I was suppose to be helping that teacher that day watch about 30 students who were less mental and physical illnesses so when that happened I decided to play a game with the kids instead of allowing them to see what was going on. We played secret fort base and I along with a couple other students moved the heavy teacher's desks into the far corner and I disconnected the 3 old Mac computers and hooked them up onto the floor that we put blankets and I moved the Tv over to the floor as well and lucky the board games were in that area as well so we played board games and had a movie on and playing games on the computers and the kids I was a teachers aid for never found out what happened thank god. That was scary. I was 13 at the time and was successfully able to keep the kids from noticing which if they noticed that would have been a huge nightmare. I even got the microwave over to the area to have popcorn popping. The kids in the area had a blast and they never realized what was really going on. The desks I moved into the spot were those 700 to 2000 pound solid iron teacher desks that had heavy duty wheels that locked. I was very mature for my age and I have to admit I think I actually kept myself more composed than the other teachers in the self contained room. I found out that kid who held the knife to a girl he got 25 to life and the mother ended up getting all the libraries in the universe thrown at her ass and she pissed off the judge and everyone and well she might get out of prison in 36,000 years. Do to how badly she screwed up in court every charge got bumped up and well because she didn't physically hurt anyone before she got arrested no death penalty but do to biting the ear and nose off of her defense lawyer and attacking the judge she ended up having a message sent her way. Do to threatening every single student at the school which was around 3000 students she got 10 years years for each student at the school and 6000 more years for all the other laws she broke. 3: The PE coach got arrested for smoking pot in his office where he turns out blocked off all tiny cracks and everything in his tiny office and had been smoking pot int there for so long and had kept the pot inside a room about 5 feet wide by 5 feet deep and 8 feet tall and when the police opened the door the smoke was so thick it couldn't float out of the room on its own and it was like snow. Police literally had to use snow shovels to shovel the smoke out of the room. Its both a scandal and seriously impressive at how he was able to hide the smell and keep that much smoke inside of a room. The smoke was so thick it had physical weight to it and a lot of weight. Everyone was impressed and horrified at police having trouble living a shovel of smoke. He made his room air tight and even added a magnetic sheet to the room to keep the smoke in and he used a can of really bad cologne to hide the smell. Needless to say he was fired but I don't know if he actually went to jail or not but he was clearly fired. The police literally shoveled smoke into big black garbage bags to get the smoke out of the room. So if smoke does not have a place to vanish into the air it can stick to the ceiling and if it adds up its gets pretty heavy. One black trash bag that was full of pot smoke weighed about 47 pounds. As I said its horrifyingly impressive how much he smoked inside the school without anyone realizing it.
Bomb threats to get out of tests / project due dates were common at University as well. In the end the professor often would allow students to stay if we wanted to, and they would keep teaching.
10:00 that whole story just makes me terrified of online dating or dating in general BECAUSE they could lie about how old they are and you go to jail because of it
I mean, there's one simple way to make sure you don't go to jail: don't do anything with them you could go to jail for doing with someone underage. 🤷🏻♀️
My middle school "officially" had a zero tolerance policy to bullying, but in reality staff would just nope out of any cases of it and claim it never happened. Wasn't the only think they just noped out of as one guy in my class was taking advantage of a girl in our class in increasingly brazen ways. Eventually started prostituting her out, then aged 15, to his friends and then adults. It wasn't until after he'd prostituted her out to a middle aged coach of his sports team that she could admit she was being taken advantage of and disassociated. School considered this job even thou they had never even tried contacting the police, social services or anyone's parents (because they'd obviously contact the police). The guy was eventually convicted of prostituting out a minor as an adult when he, at age 19, prostituted out a 17-year-old.
