Worked at a daycare for dogs. One of my coworkers snapped and began screaming at the boss who began to scream back. My PTSD kicked in and I sat in the corner, cowering and crying. All the dogs; about twenty large breeds. Gathered around me trying to comfort and protect me.

You're telling me he lifted a "kid" who presumably is a teenager according to the "ghetto" and badmouthing with one hand while also lifting up the jacket shoulders enough to pierce a nail through the leather/denim far enough so it doesnt just rip off? And the cops just let him off despite this qualifying as assault with a weapon?

And yes, we don't like it being called larping, however we don't usually get that heated about it. Edit: Also, we usually don't take a swing at another person out of armor without just cause, cause that's a quick way to either an assault or manslaughter lawsuit

My old co-worker brought in a group of friends (like 5 people) and tried to get free movie tickets. I brought it up to my GM because I got yelled at for giving my brother and his wife free tickets so they could have a date. The next day at work with her she started yelling at me for 30 minutes while I was working concessions. She then said she had power over me and could do what she wanted. I brought it up to my manager (I was friends with all the managers) they then told her I was right to do that. Few weeks later she passed around a note saying she was quitting do to toxic co-workers (I'm assuming she meant me). I felt great going to work after she and her friend left.

In regards to the dog grooming schedule story. I used to do the same thing at my old job where I would take a picture of the weekly schedule with my phone (to be fair I'm pretty sure this is common practice for most). I also had an issue where the manager was forced to change my schedule due to a co-worker suddenly not being able to work. So he changed it on my day off and forgot to inform me.
The next morning he calls and wakes me up calmly asking why I'm not at work yet. I tell him I'm not supposed to be in for another couple of hours. He says that's not what the schedule says.
I ask him "Are you sure?"
"I'm looking at it right now."
Confused, I just sigh and tell him I'll be in shortly.
I do want to note that the conversation was very calm, no raised voices or passive aggression. Very matter-of-factly.
While getting ready I look at my phone and sure enough, the picture on my phone confirms my side. When I get in I go to his office and look at the schedule. I now see that it has been changed. I show him the photo on my phone. He looks back and forth between my phone and the schedule on his wall looking very confused. Eventually he facepalms and apologizes, saying that he realizes now he forgot to inform me of the change because of my absent co-worker. I just shrug it off saying we all make mistakes. He thanks me and we get to work.
The difference between a reasonable manager, and a c__t.

I had a coworker that was obviously unstable the whole time we worked together. He would always start arguments and verbally attack our supervisor. They gave him one final chance and in the middle of the conversation he snapped his pen in half and started crying and rocking back and forth. Well fast forward a month or so and he finally gets fired and I was standing in front of our building when he came out and tripped and fell landing on his Taco Bell he had brought in for lunch. This just sent him over the edge and he started screaming and crying and took off running as fast as he could, completely oblivious to traffic. Well a few days later I’m scrolling through the jail bookings and there he is. The day he got fired he ended up getting arrested for reckless driving and reckless endangerment. I’m so thankful I don’t have to deal with him anymore. I also think it’s worth noting that my boss did everything in her power to get him the help that he needed and let him constantly have mental health days, the trade off was that he had to perform literally the bare minimum and he just couldn’t do it. We also work with kids, so it wasn’t worth the risk of one of them getting hurt or exposed to something they shouldn’t.

Not a meltdown, but incredible to watch. "Jon" was a boozy druggie biker (always came to work clean and sober.) Jon could annoy people 100 yards away just by walking past. "Erik" was the nerdy type. Jon decided it was his mission to get Erik to lose his temper. Calling him "egghead" and "four eyes" and it got worse from there. Finally one day Jon managed a single sentence so foul and personal that the break room went silent. Erik sloooowly got up from the table. One employee told me later "I thought for sure Erik was going to kill him." A couple of other people swore that Erik's eyes changed from blue to steel gray. Erik picked up one of his gloves (it was winter), walked up to Jon and said in a flat tone "Jon, you have insulted me, my mother, and my family honor. I demand satisfaction." He then slapped Jon lightly across the face with the glove and dropped it at his feet. Everybody stared at Jon. "What?" Jon said. "Pick it up, if you're man enough to stand behind your words" Erik replied coldly. Jon refused to pick up the glove. Jon had just branded himself a coward- and had no idea, since he was totally ignorant of the fact he'd just been challenged to a duel. BTW Erik was a head taller and 100 lbs heavier than Jon.

I fired an employee who used our client records to stalk a client who happened to be named Aaron Paul. He wasn't the actor, just had the same name. She voiced her disappointment in the break room while I'm sitting there eating my lunch.
This put me in a really bad mood. Not only did she interrupt my meal, but now i had a mountain of paperwork that needed to be processed for her illegal use of the company's proprietary information (our client list).
I had a whole speech planned out to let her know how disappointed I was in her actions.
Before I could start, she started ranting about how we were oppressing her freedom to be a fan of an actor.
That such oppressions were morally reprehensible and that I was going to Hell for harassing her.
By the time she finished her sentence, her voice was shrill and beginning to crack from screaming for so long.
When she was done, I jus sat there and stared at her while seething with my own quiet rage.
I let the silence hang in the air for what felt like forever, but was probably just a minute.
This agent (when given enough time to think about her actions) went from Kathy Bates in Misery to a timid shrew..
When she finally broke the silence in an attempt to resign, I interrupted her and told her she was fired. After her little spat, I wasn't going to give her the chance to resign.

This was an older electronics box that was very heavy. I sure would have liked to have been there when that happened.

New coworker...right after the boss went home after his briefly appearing, she went to the office of the boss (!), went on the computer for hours and did not appear to do her work. I had the same qualification like her and had to do my job + her job, because she simply disappeared over the day.
Then out of the sudden she was allowed to do specific work at the lab, that I was trained for as well, but I was not allowed to do, because I "was just too young" to do (besides being at the company for almost 10 years). So she went to the lab, did work that normally was done in half an hour and disappeared for hours as well...I went to the boss to talk about it and was ignored.
After a while she started to badmouthing every coworker she could find behind their backs, while she was literally kissing and giving compliments when they were present. I was like 👀 every day.
Then she tried to supervise me, besides she had no qualification and job status to do so. I told her she crosses a line.
I am a not talking much girl, but I finally had a huge meltdown after she badmouthed another coworker right after she kissed her goodbye. My Supervisor just said: She would never do this. I wasn´t the only one that witnessed it, but no one said anything. I finally was fed up, started to find ways to just look busy without doing some work, so she would be forced to do any work. I finally questioned the whole working situation and the lack of trust the company took into me. I did not want to do my work like that. I signed the resignation.
Life is too short to fight stupid unnecessary fights and being unhappy all day long.

Apparently about 6-7 years ago, before i got to my current company... a guy came back from china or japan (i forget which) with some cool soda that shared a name with a programming language or something. Long story short, he's distributing it to coworkers, and one other guy has a mental breakdown, saying that it contains microchips meant to read our minds and influence our thoughts.
He screams his head off about it, then emails a nearly verbatim copy of the rant to the whole company before bolting out of the office. He was promptly fired and the guy who brought the soda in was politely asked not to so again.

Sadly, I worked at a high end hotel where housekeepers regularly had nervous breakdowns. Everybody does it differently but they are all from the same stress overload, and spoken about in hushed tones by witnesses. Mine consisted of waking up feeling that I couldn't breathe normally as the hairs in my lungs moving would hurt. I blamed it on a chemical. When I mentioned to the doc that I thought I also had a couple of bone fractures that sealed it. I was put on sick leave for 3 months. Went home and slept 3 days and 3 nights. BTW if you want to get in to see your doctor right away tell the receptionist you can't breathe right and have chest pain.... I shall never forget how the doc looked at me when I was earnestly explaining about the hairs in my lungs. At this place I also completed 9 more hours of an 11 hour shift after tearing the cartilage off my ribs. Misplaced loyalty.

Had an almost freak out, twice. I work at my local grocery store which was large, but not as large as Walmart. I worked as a cashier and in the floral department. When these stories take place a new department opened up and I started working in there. It was that thing where the customer orders their groceries online, we shop for them, then they pick it up later. The work was physically and mentally exhausting. The department managers actually communicated with each other so I would have many shifts where I was half a day in one department and half in another. It was actually a lot of fun until...later. So our shopping department is super popular (because it's awesome) and my fellow coworkers and I get so busy we can't take breaks and we're pulling other cross-trained people for help (just for set up so you get how busy it was). So the floral manager needed to take an extended leave (it was medical related) and I would be the primary worker there but the manager was supposed to be the assistant manager of produce (but overall produce was responsible for floral) . She was a nice gal, had a bit of an ego, but whatever. So story 1 is for some dumb reason I'm scheduled for 2 hours in floral and 6 hours for shopping dept. and floral is destroyed! There are dead plants everywhere, flower stems on every available surface (including the floor) there were several palette jacks and carts filled with dead stuff and it was all shoved around for everyone to see! I spent those 2 hours trying to make it look less horrible before my coworkers begged my to help with the shopping. I took pictures of the dept. and later showed them to the store leader. I don't know if anything came of it because the next day floral still looked like crap. I once again had that dumb 2 hour 6 hour work day in the same places but this time I nearly blew up at the produce girl. When I went to floral she marched right over and started yelling at me that floral looked bad and I need to spend more time over there. Now I wasn't in charge of how my schedule was or in charge of floral. She was. So I probably got all red in the face and started yelling back. Now I say almost freak our because I only got a sentence out before she ignores me, keeps talking, then walks away. I went to my direct dept. head and complained. Again not sure what exactly happened but thankfully I never had to talk with that girl again and floral never looked that bad again. I quit working there a few months later.

Not really pulling their weight, sitting around, taking a while to find the items needed for the people ordering stuff. Overall gave off a vibe of not wanting to be there. Anyways he was there for about a week if memory serves me right. On his final day the supervisor shouted up to him (main warehouse was on the 2nd floor) to bring down X item. Well the dude just snaps and starts shouting back down to the supervisor to stop telling him what to do and he'll get the item when he gets it. Once he did get the item he just threw that thing down, didn't place it on the conveyor belt, like yeeted that thing right down with force, he then decided to make it everyone elses problem and starts throwing other items down too, all the while swearing up a storm. Took retail park security and police to get him out of the store. Was a wild hour.

I remember mine quite well. I had just purchased a new vehicle for a maintenance job at a local shopping mall. 2 weeks later the little prick of a manager came down to fire me after I busted my ass all day. After the prick fired me he had the nerve to insult me ( not a smart thing to do to someone bigger then you and seeing red). He caught a full blast left hook that I leaned into. He ran off and as I was grabbing my shit they sent the security chief down to “ escort “ me out of the building. I looked at him while I was carrying everything including my tools and he went to grab me and tried to pull my bag off of me. I told him “ your not searching my shit cause I’m not taking anything that’s not mine” “ I do have some integrity unlike your boss”. Then I proceeded to head for the door saying “ I’ll just show myself out and I don’t need any help”. He was told by my ex supervisor to “ Leave him alone I helped him pack his stuff up, besides he’s had enough of a bad day as it is”. The guards just left me alone to walk back to my car. A few miles later I got pulled over by the police on grounds I “ assaulted” my ex now ex boss. When I explained to the cops what had happened they declined to arrest me and said they were deleting the call cause “ The perpetrator had enough of a bad day and there would be less chance of an incident, if they just let me go back home “. I was told to go away for a few weeks and let it blow over. All's well that ends well as I got hammered that night at home

Went away for two weeks, was told that the co-worker who had previously covered my job could handle the work. Came back to be told that on the fourth day, the computer was going slowly and he threw a full tantrum and stormed out. He's more highly strung than the average chihuahua but still, its been a relief not having to sit near him every day for the last year. Not to live up to stereotypes, but he's a white man in his 50s

Mines not really a coworker but schoolmate had to take eight cops to take him down after he found out his girlfriend cheated on him they were going out for 7 years before this he literally lost his crap and ended up and mental institution they had to sedate him soon as they got him out of the school because he was thrashing around too much it took eight officers to tackle him and hog Thai Thai him it was funny I said there and watched as he threw teacher after teacher down the hall cop after cop down the hall and he almost made it to the kid he was going after that's when all eight of the cops jumped on him and took him down

No they walk down the school most of the kids were in their classes I was there because I was in the office and I had office help so I was traveling the Halls to deliver messages for teachers I just happened to come around the corner when that happened it was really scary especially to see that big gentle giant of a boy loses crap seriously they were punching him kicking him he was biting he was doing anything he could to get away from them to get to the boy that slept with his girlfriend he was going to kill that boy then go kill his girlfriend and himself that was his plan but first he wanted to kill that boy there was no question in my mind that he would not have killed him

But when he was outside the building everybody was freaking out trying to figure out who had who got all the cops there cuz they're usually was one or two that would show up throughout the day plus we had what was it called vocational center there there is a cop program so we're used to having a few police cruisers if you cops around the school but not like this the whole town was there I swear they must have found the biggest and meanest cops they could find to deal with this boy there was nothing they could do to stop and besides finally take him down physically they tried to tease him that didn't affect him too much they sprayed him while he was running running by one didn't do anything the kid was in a blind rage but yeah everybody in school afterwards thought it was funny as hell that a quite a few of the teachers that we did not like got knocked out school was canceled for a week after that it was kind of weird it was the same time as all those stupid bomb threats were going on with the schools right after Columbine so we had targets on us anyways after that weird part was I was not just part of one group like most high schoolers I was a kid that bounced around and hung out with every group The jocks the geeks the stoners the wrestling champs I hung up with all of them I got some stories about that school it was pretty much a juvenile detention center but without the barbed wire in the arm guards 80% of my class dropped out by the time I graduated we still hold the hold the record of the most dropouts I hold the record of the most in schools out of schools it's in school suspension out of school suspension and 3 hours without getting expelled and I was the only one that knocked out the assistant principal without getting expelled because I warned the guy not to touch me three times previously in a row I had two teacher I would witnesses in that room then I had the principal stick up for me in front of the school board and the school board ruled in my favor allowing me to graduate and the only one that could punish me was the principal not the assistant principal he had to leave me alone.

I had a moment i'm not entirely proud of when I lost my cool at work. I was fed up after the months of harassment from these highschoolers who really didn't care about their job and would do everything to not do their jobs. One guy said something along the lines of "your parents must not love you if you're in this job" (the stupidity of that comment should be obvious since he was also insulting himself and everyone else including his friends) I lost it, adrenaline pumped and I grabbed him by the collar, lifted him 1ft off the ground, pulled him close and gave him a reality check. Unfortunately someone witnessed it and I was sent home but it gets worse. Someone in the shift scheduling part of the business doesn't like who i'm related to so they stopped scheduling me for work. (it's getting sorted out don't worry)

I worked at a call center that did AOL billing back in the early 2000's. I don't remember what the call is about what I do remember is that the lady was the lady was horrible. So as soon as she hung up the call I said out loud, but to myself, "you fucking bitch".
Well apparently the recording software records even after the call is over and I got "in trouble" despite the customer not hearing me.

I can't decide which story to tell about my old boss, but he seemed to have a hissy fit every other week. One time he threw a fit because a school had booked to come in late and he hadn't realised. For some reason he flipped out, screamed down the phone at his wife in the office, made my mentor cry and then stormed off. He claimed he couldn't run the day if it started late, yet we pulled it off while slightly short staffed.
I think I heard a story of one of the admin workers yelling at him in the office and quitting on the spot. He claimed it was the first time it had happened to him, which was debunked by a former worker.
Can't name the company for professional reasons but you'll know it if you've been there.

One of my first jobs would just change people's shifts without notice pretty regularly. Should have known they would be difficult when I got a call asking where I was, the day before my first shift, because they decided I should start a day earlier without letting me know. Also they only released your schedule two days before the week, so you couldn't make any plans for the week. You also had to travel to the workplace on your days off, or ask a coworker to take a pic, of the schedule. Because in this day and age they still wrote them all by hand on a paper document. One they could change at any time. I should have left after the first, I wouldn't have had to deal with the batty old mother of the managers that would come in and insult every part timer she could find, but Only in my department. I wish every day that I'd reported them for all the shit that went down.

Crazy b to begin with. Then she went on a weeklong road trip with her dad and her sister. Bucket List item for the dad, I think. She came to work the day after getting back into town. I asked how it went. She said she and her sister fought the entire time. Poor dad. Anyway, her loser son calls from school and wants her to get him as he has a headache. She calls her loser husband to go and get the kid. He refuses as he works a clerk job at a big-box DIY store and can't leave. He tells her it's only a headache and tell the kid to get Tylenol from the nurse and "don't worry about it". She melts down in three seconds and begins to shout into her phone that she hAs To wOrRy - over and over again. Shrieking at the top of her lungs. Dreadful.

I ended up ripping my pants in the crotch and seeing I was working by myself away from the public I kept working . Not too long before I left for the day , the boss's wife comes home . She comes over to day hello , notices the hole in my pants . Tells me I shouldn't be working around her with the hole in the crotch of my pants . I tell her she shouldn't be looking at my crotch either . She never said a word .

We worked for red Cross cant do medical help and only hang up some signs for next blood donation appointment.
A old lady lie on ground didnt breath and her grown son want us to help.
We try first help till the real paramedic comes.
They used defibrillator, but she died.
It was the first time i saw a dead body. We both get in the Car.
I thought he drive to next Location for next sign, but he drive back were we come from and sayed, he dont work today any more.
Idk if we get truble for decide just to stop working, but i dont want to force hin to work if he got problems with what happent.
So sayed only ok and we drive back without talking and heared yong folks from peter Björn.
Idk if im a psyco that didnt think of her dead in that way, i would stop work or he was to soft.
    Maybe both is ok

I loved the nail gun story. On the one hand, an adult should never lay hands on a child, no matter how much they're acting like an asshole. On the other hand, he got what was coming to him without getting seriously hurt. Old Jim could have done a lot worse if he wanted. I mean, if you poke the bear, don't be surprised when the bear attacks.
