Hello, David from Australia, I just got delivery of the Medium Mirrors and top mounted them on DN-01 Mirrors and they ROCK! They work well. The improvement to rear vision is fantastic, RC you are smart! Thanks for all your help. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas! The Honda DN-01 AKA Stingray is a great modern cruiser that would suite so many riders fitted with a top-box and you can have lots of fun! Enjoy. stay up right mates.
I am conidering a DN-01 just because I am tired of the clutch lever. I'm getting old and the left hand objects to clutch resistance. Also like the combined brakes.
I just wanted to say thank you for your reviews! they were very helpful in my decision to purchase a DN-01. as of april 21st 2012 I became the proud owner of a brand new DN-01 after driving all the way from alabama to baltimore maryland to pick it up for about 9000$ I love this bike! and it looks so much better in person too. happy riding!
Thanks, Yea I heard, Its sad Honda will discontinue the bike here in the states, I feel the bike is ahead of its time. I hope I can ride soon, This winter will not quit, The Northeast is crippled from a massive blizzard yesterday, Road conditions are terrible to say the least., Take care Rob, Safe riding.
I thank you so much for the video!!! I stumbled across it on ebay....and I think it is INCREDIBLE!!!!! I had no idea it was an automatic. I like the cross between street and cruiser!
This is a very good looking bike - I almost went ahead and bought one due to the outrageous discount I managed to get on it due to it being discontinued. In the end I bought a BMW F800r, still another quirky one... Stay safe and enjoy riding
Great review. A lot of similarities to your bike to mine. Like your mirrors. I have a set on mine. Your "Sport Mode" is the same thing as my "Power Mode". The newer Burgmans ( after the 2004 model) have linked brakes. Only the Executive models have the ABS on the 650's. Your "Semi Manual Mode" is basically the same as my "Automatic/Manual mode" buttion . I checked Clearview Shields and I guess it's so new, they haven't made one for your bike yet. Hey, I tried buddy.
Yeah the price was a bit high due to both the limited run for the US and the technology they put into the transmission. Still, I have something unique and I'm happy with mine.
Great review, I have the exact one as you, I really like the bike too, Very comfortable, Good power, And the transmission is awesome, 16, 17 Grand is MSRP, I paid 12 Grand with all the dealer fees, Registration, Tax Title, Etc. New york got 2 feet of snow today, Bummer, I can't wait for the summer, Enjoy the ride.
@RC62 not bad, but the burgman would seem to get more milage. and, you know, 800 miles of almost completely open road (our family takes 64 to Holenwald, TN, and get on 65, and from there, the only big cities that you go through are Memphis, Little Rock, Texarcana, and, if we need to go this far, Dallas).
@RC62 I purchased the Burgman 650 Executive primarily to finally get my wife to ride with me. My wild side would have given this a shot if it were just me riding. You are correct.. From what I've read, too many were trying to size this up against a Sport bike... Oh well.. Enjoy it..
Hey, David from Australia, I have one and just love it! I have the Givi Windshield and love it! I also have put on Givi topbox and hard panniers and they rock. I like the fact you added those mirrors. Can you tell me where you got them? I would put them on top as it would work better. Great Bike best tech, should have had foot pegs and not boards and able to adjust them to sports mode or cruiser, Thanks.
It's the same motor as on the NT700V. I have one. Honda has been selling them in Europe forever, but imported them into the US only for model years 2010-2011. Has plenty of power, but not enough low end torque for the weight of the bike, IMO. Price points for the DN-01 and the NT700V are fairly high. Now Honda has a whole new line of bikes designed to a much lower price point with great MPG to attract new riders. I think both the DN-01 and the NT700V will end up being collectors' items.
Yeah the motor is the same as the "Trans Alp" and is a proven V-Twin design. You are right, there isn't a lot of low end torque. For me that isn't a bad thing. Helps keep me from being too stupid and getting into trouble too easily. lol Ride safe, Rob (in Orlando) :D
Greetings, David from OZ! Thank you so much for the information, will act on it, as they are perfect. Its Summer over here, so I am out on the bike quite a lot with the high touring screen from Givi, I am comfortable when I am at speed! 165kms! Honda has to do better on Price! Stay up-right.
@RC62 what kind of milage does the DN-01 get? I'd like to know, because, i live in middle tennessee, and every year, my family takes a trip to texas to visit family, and I just want to know what the milage is as a comparison, because i do want an automatic that isn't too pricy.
personally, i'd like to know if a DN-01 is a good bike to step up to after you crash your first bike (hahasoisoisoi). I was considering a Suzuki Burgman AN 400.
You are exactly right. This is the same well proven engine used in the Transalp. :D For me it has enough power. Anyhting more would only get me into trouble that much easier. lol
looks like the engine is a twin from the Honda Transalp (680cc), that's the one I am riding every day now since 1 year, nice but only 60 HP and 5 gears, other then that very good bike.
A local dealership had one of these I could have purchased for what I just paid for on my new Burgman 650 Executive. The European reviews were not so great on the DN-01.. I guess these have been discontinued. Well, nice try by Honda..
Nice, sharp looking bike. The only thing i dont like about the bike is the price. Not alot of bike for the money.I looked at one at a bike show.Sharp, sharp looking bike.I ride a Katana and allways get hated on.Never really understood fellow riders hateing on bikes, unless it,s the Harleys, heheheee.I love all bikes and brands.I,m a firm beliver in Rideing my ride and to each his own.Ride safe ,
It doesn't have the visceral power of a liter bike but for me it's enough. I'm 6' 210 lb (without gear) and it rides fine even when the wife is riding with me. :D Ride safe.
Automatics allow more people to ride or to continue riding if they have issues or disabilities with using a clutch. Biggest thing with this bike was the original cost.
Price is too much in my opinion, the weight, it weighs more than a busa. The appeal, it doesn't look interesting to me because automatic transmission honestly. I think what i factored into this was, weight, engine size, and being automatic, and found the price just too huge.
Sorry I do not understand French and Google translates your comment to "When I'll Sub!" But I don't know what you mean. Thank you for viewing and commenting.

Thanks for the complement. On the mirrors, yes they are Hercules Auxiliary Mirrors. They work quite well for me.
For a 17 year old who should be loving R1s and CBRS this is AWSOME!!

Great review so far mate! I am a BIG fan of scooters and CVT transmissions, and your Honda has something totally different, interesting!

I saw first in mordeth13 as well, I haven't tried it yet but it seems nice for long journey.
good vid!

Hi RC, glad to know we think the same. Can you help me with the extra mirrors you put on yours? Can you tell me where you got them from?

Yeah it's not to everyone's taste. I've upgraded the windscreen and added a back rest and a few other tweaks. Works for me.... :D

this is a beautiful machine..plus it's automatic...
very nice video RC...
:)
Just bought one and love it! Where did u get the backrest? Thanks.
Congrats on the DN01. The passenger backrest was OEM from Honda.
SSWOYER hi there you still have the DN-01?
personally, i'd like to know if a DN-01 is a good bike to step up to after you crash your first bike (hahasoisoisoi). I was considering a Suzuki Burgman AN 400.
It's a beautiful bike, love the way it looks.
very good review i enjoyed watching nice bike i like the look of this bike its so different
You are exactly right. This is the same well proven engine used in the Transalp. :D
For me it has enough power. Anyhting more would only get me into trouble that much easier. lol
I live in prattville which is just north of Montgomery, Tuscaloosa huh. I'm guessing your a alabama fan lol
Good review, one of the best that I have seen on the DN-01
Thank you. I appreciate you watching and commenting.

no link to part 2
Thanks for the heads up. In 11 years you are the first to point that out. Here is a link to part 2: ruclips.net/video/tEL0rRPkvOM/видео.html
The think with autos on bikes is that they tend to accelerate from lights faster than pretty much anything on the planet....
I really like the look of this bike. I would buy it but I need more power. I'm over 6 ft tall and 200+ lbs. I need at least 1000 cc's!
@RC62
It was not the content, but rather the volume.
I wonder when I stop my bike do not go in neutral
The DN01 is an automatic so when you stop the gears disengage.
Somebody out there... is thinking how to put the DN01 engine to a rigid chopper bike Frame...
A local dealership had one of these I could have purchased for what I just paid for on my new Burgman 650 Executive. The European reviews were not so great on the DN-01..
I guess these have been discontinued. Well, nice try by Honda..

Hehe... Thanks! My humble opinion is it is a nice bike. :D
What kind of bags do you have on her?
***** Cortech Super 2.0 tank bag and Cortech Sport Saddlebag. They are not too expensive and certainly not the best but work well for the price.
hey Jason, just saw this, you bought her from ME in April '13! How many miles you have on her now?
It doesn't have the visceral power of a liter bike but for me it's enough. I'm 6' 210 lb (without gear) and it rides fine even when the wife is riding with me. :D
Ride safe.
Starts @ 0:37.
awesome bike
Thx... I agree. Some minor gripes about the styling / design choices Honda made but overall I love the bike. It's a great ride. :D
I think its ok, but not the bike for me.
I think most americans wants automatic transmission in cars, but not in mc.
Automatics allow more people to ride or to continue riding if they have issues or disabilities with using a clutch. Biggest thing with this bike was the original cost.

That intro was unnecessary.
Quand j aurai des sous!!!!
