Great review!!! I love the idea of the Dragon formula wheels. I have been following them from back when Braille skateboarding introduced them to me (via RUclips). I am super excited about seeing the SurfSkate Love bowl riding wheels in review

They actually made the 97a dragon formula specifically for the nano cubics to fit the specs asked by Andy Anderson who designed those wheels. They extended it to the new nano rats too now but those are more street oriented being small wheels with small contact patch too. Powell could make awesome surfskate wheels if only they cared, but it might probably come someday.
Personnaly I have rat bones 60mm/90a for Bowl riding and love them, I've seen you've got a set of those in the intro you posted the other day.
Great review, I don't surfskate much in skatepark and bowls these days, I switched to classic skateboard for that and use my surfskate mostly as a cruiser but still enjoyed the review, that was really complete !

Agreed. Powell and Bones (both are owned by Skate One) and spitfire would be dominating forces in the surfskate wheel market if they made wheels with surfskate specs.

@@jp13834 yeah. I also tried the Rough Riders 59mm 80a for Surfskate and cruising around. As the name says, they are pretty good for roughly concrete.

Anyone has some experiace to compare the Powell Dragon 60x42 with the Powell 60mm 90a Rat Bones? They got a very similar shape.

Legit review, thanks!. I just started to use these wheels in my new setup for transition, they are pretty smooth and have the great balance between grip and speed that I was looking for. I didn't have any issues sliding out of control, except in very polished concrete.

Yep! I love these wheels and they totally have a place as a great surfskate wheel for sure.

The contact patch is really one of the most underrated Things in skateboard wheel dimensions. Not only because of the grip, I also feel that bigger contact patches ensure longer hold of speed

The fact that Powell doesn’t list their contact patch for wheels on their website speaks to how underrated contact patch is.
I emailed them a list of a few wheels requesting the contact patch measurements and they didn’t even have them.
The person responded with an estimation based on what they measured with a ruler 🤦‍♂️

Would love to know if Dragon 88a works better than 93a on surfskates.

    How is this board setup?
Looks like slappy trucks on there?
    Is that front and back?
    No riser on front?
    What size riser on back?

Could you compare to dragons 93A 64? Did you try on Skate park? Thanks for your great vídeos !@

Stay tuned for future videos where I talk about the 64mm dragons 🙌🏼 !
Bottom line: Not only did I not enjoy the 64mm GBones, I would also advise against buying them. I didn’t think it was a good surfskate park wheel.
I would instead recommend these Powell dragon 93a 60x42, 64mm g bones 97a, 62mm Surfskate Love Park and Bowl, or 97a spitfire radial full.

93a is still a hard wheel, in a rough terrain skateboarding situation it will make a difference to getting in and out of hitting a ledge etc.....83a is normally as hard as a Surfskate wheel wants to go because you want them to be able to grip a pump for speed, thus you do not want a surf skate extra slide! That wheel is not for Surfskating!!! Surfskaters should look at skateboard slalom wheels.....

It’s fine for you to have your personal opinions and preferences. But remember that everyone has their own and many, many people disagree with you.

You’re stating some strong opinions as fact.
I’m trying to help people make buying decisions by providing information about wheels that I have been trying out over a period of time.
Please go ride your slalom wheels.
Please dont buy these dragon wheels if they don’t sound like a wheel you would enjoy.
Lots of people do in fact enjoy these wheels on their surfskate.

I modestly used dragons 93A 64 for skatepark only and for bowl and slide in ramps they are beautiful. I got the info by SurfskateMD video over weels. A very nice video also.
I think in a world with so much options and different opinions and feelings you might get into the skin of a lot of people by being so affirmative. You might say the same things beginning by, "in my opinion...." and the community will be smiling. Thanks for your thoughts
