Out of these 5, I'd go for the Lexus every time. Hi, lived through the Audi V8 evolution. The story goes……. Audi V8 4.2 40v come out then VW bought Lambo. The Lambo V10 5.0 IS based on the V8 though they decided on 5.0 capacity so reduced the bore spacing by 2mm to make the block as light as possible. They developed the V10 5.0 with 4 valves per cylinder instead of 5 utilising the left over hole in the head for direct fuel injector along with many performance mods. All of this was then applied to the 40v V8 engine bar the bore spacing which created the B7/8 RS4 engine, R8 V8 and one of the Q7’s. Then they took that engine, added 2 more cylinders to create the 5.2 V10. My point being you and others say the 5.0 V10 isn’t related to the other engines, apart from the bore spacing they are 😊
Damned good, I like your presentation. Good topic too. I once owned a SAAB 9000 2.3 turbo, this was nearly 30 years ago and it was my first luxury car - I didn’t take long to find out how fast it could go.
Anyone looking at the v70r but can't afford one, bear in mind the 2.0T (also 5cyl turbo) produces 180bhp and costs the same as a 1.2 VW Polo to insure, oh and I picked up my S60 version for £800. So yeah, this or a polo. I think I made the right choice.
I might get hate for this, but recently I picked up an A4 b7 s-line, 3.0tdi. It’s ridiculously torque-y, and I only got it for 2 grand and it’s in pristine condition, bare in mind it’s my second car and I’ve only been driving a year and a half, possibly the best deal I’d get for such great performance for a second car. Definitely an underrated car, and an absolute sleeper, I’ve had several people shocked at the performance of it
As the resident GS450h fanboy on the channel, do it! The Mk4 (2012 onwards) is a huge step up in luxury (moisturing aircon...) and tech so well worth it if you can afford it, but the performance is identical- some suggest the older ones are actually faster but that doesn't really seem to be the case. Also it's a little quicker than 5.7 to 60 unless you're towing a bus! Notes- no folding seats, needs full dealer servicing to keep the battery warranty (10 years, not that it'll ever break anyway) and please don't race my Porsche since I know which car wins ☺
@@ApothecaryTerry I have had a 2007 GS450h and now I own a 2014 GS450h. My 2007 car covered 229,000 miles before I PX’d for the current car. The reason the older car feels a little faster is because the newer car has such a great level of comfort that it hides how fast it really is. 0-60 in 5.2 seconds. 38 MPG (city) 42+ MPG motorway. Not bad for a car with a 3.5 Litre engine
@@filmfreek35 The Mk4 definitely hides its speed well! It's also a very easy car to burn fuel in if you floor it, but I also managed 50mpg on a few runs. Even did 47.5 on a 4 hour run from Bristol to east London including 90 mins of London rush hour. Once I get bored of having a sports car in a couple more years, a Mk4 is on my shortlist again. Never considered owning the same car twice before but it's so good...although I want a facelift in premier spec and no black leather if I get one, so I might have to check my local unicorn dealer for that.
@@ApothecaryTerry it nice to come across someone who knows about these Lexus GS vehicles. Unfortunately the last Generation GS is mainly an exterior styling upgrade. It has the same cabin as the 2012 & on models but with better gauge cluster, a new steering wheel, Adaptive radar cruise control a standard, and a physical back button for the infotainment system. The engine is the same, The seats are the same. Since the GS was discontinued I keep wondering what my next Lexus would be. Literally ANY car is more exciting than a 116d. The rwd is the only thing going for it but doesn't have the power to make use of it. If I was 20y old again I'd get a fiesta 1.0 ecoboost with 99bhp. Stage 1 takes it to around 145bhp, handles brilliant cheap to run and quick enough
now get a sleepers for under 2k video made ,,, thats the real bargain threshold ... under 1k is just scrap heap cash ,,, so I think 2k is the mark. a months wages for most folk the perfect amount to spend if you crash or kill your car , or the spending limit on a new credit card theres the challenge 2K.

I have just finished restoring a 2005 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 AWD Estate, bought for £1000 and it grips like a race car and is extremely quick
Cool vid man, nice one 👏🏻
Love it!!! Keep it up buddy!! Excellent informative content!!
Appreciate it!
Out of these 5, I'd go for the Lexus every time. This is based on a number of things; comfort is superb, reliability second to none, performance is excellent, economy surprisingly good, and it's whisper quiet, which of course means that you blow the opposition away so quietly that they don't know you're there until you're already long gone!
I own a 2006 Lexus GS300 SE-L, which has been "breathed on" by my local Lexus dealership; and it has to be said that the results are simply staggering! I paid just £2,400 for the car and spent a further £550 with Lexus - best thing I ever did.
Loving the channel just subbed keep the grate content up
Had an Omega 3.2 v6, brilliant car, and my current one is a c330d, which is about as quick a car from 30-70 as you can get.
@@buckrussel3808 You can't read. Read it again. Then again. Once more...now what did I say? 320d the fastest car you can get? Nope.
Have a good life, Buck, and brush up on your English, it might come in handy for you some time in your life.
@@buckrussel3808 Mate, its limited to 155mph, same as every other Merc or BMW. I also said between 30 to 70mph, it's as quick as anything.
Now, if you are talking supercars, then you'd be right, but we aren't, its sleepers under 10k.
First vid of yours I’ve seen. Subscribed !
Awesome! Thank you!
You should have lumped the GS460 in with the GS450h. Around the same price and performance. (and rarity, I think)
You could have added the LS460. Even more of a sleeper, in looks, but heavier than the GS.
The only one I wouldn't exactly call a "Sleeper" is the Audi, if you see an Audi like that, your gonna expect it to be quick
66u5 to
How? Unless you see the S badge or you know what it is, it just looks like a regular Audi sedan.
@@natefrommtl Regular Audis are very fast as well.

High mileage m135i for like £9,700, 25 quid to stick a 116i badge on it. Boom perfect sleeper 😉
Hahah yes & take the m sport bodykit off 👀
@@CarsWithJB heheh oh yes, or even better just buy a cheaper 130i, those things are beasts
@@CarsWithJB You can get an M Sport version of any lower model though.
So de-badged, the only difference is the exhausts.
The brakes give it away :)
@@MrSchmekker Only to people who know cars.
I debadged my remapped M140i, and now I get all sorts of clowns trying to race me, which never happened when it had the badges on ;-)
I had the gs450h is a beast the only down side is that is CVT in 2 years that I own I put 71k miles on it just to bear in mind when I purchased it had 99k on the clock no issues part from tpms sensors age related and holes on the exhaust, probably like all the other cars on your list insurance tax and maintenance is very expensive as they are premium cars
My point being you and others say the 5.0 V10 isn’t related to the other engines, apart from the bore spacing they are 😊
Another great video!
Damned good, I like your presentation. Good topic too. I once owned a SAAB 9000 2.3 turbo, this was nearly 30 years ago and it was my first luxury car - I didn’t take long to find out how fast it could go.
Always great videos, thanks!
Appreciate it man!
Would you say an octavia vrs is a sleeper. Fast enough to blow most cars on the road but not tooo quick (the estate btw)
100% - it’s literally a skoda 😅
Of course it’s good, it’s an Audi. Too many badge snobs will give it a sidestep. Good call.
"fast enough to blow most cars" pahhahaha never laughed so much
Could give the Mazda 6 MPS a nod, although may just come in the under 5000 list!
And they are 4wd!!!
@@buckrussel3808 yeahbut its enough to put a smile on your face and give it an 8.5 sec 0-60mph
Nice one there. My 2000 model Mercedes Benz e 320 avantgarde still punishes other cars on the highway.
These vids are great, I love sleeper cars, and a reasonable price point too
Loved the vid. Subbed
Friend of mine has an S8 V10. Engine has just gone BOOM.
That’s not great to hear - that’ll be an expensive fix!
Definitely an underrated car, and an absolute sleeper, I’ve had several people shocked at the performance of it
Eyyyyyy the lexus 450h again love it man keep it upp. Am actually sold, buying one of those lexus for next my car 😀
Do it! Such an insane all-rounder
The ES does not really appeal to me being a front wheel drive and underpowered. I hope I can afford and LS 500h F sport (0-60 in 4.6 seconds).
3:24 is that a VW Passat MK5
The bmw m135i should be a contender for this. I got mine for under 10 and its a great example. It made 380bhp with a stage 1 map and it's a eight speed auto. Take my word for it....... It goes well.
That engine OUT job on the S8 is insane just to change the spark plug. The SAAB is probably the least known of al these cars because of its rareness.
One more nice video mate keep it up ! Do a review of car insurance group for does monsters to ...would be good talk about that for all of car enthusiasts...
No BMWs? That's an oversight. The 335i is a cracking shout, especially pre- twin-scroll, and estate it unassuming. The 535d is another great family-friendly performance car.
I put bmws in almost all of my lists - trying to keep it fresh 😅
Can you please do cheap and fast estates for under £2,000. Cheers
There aren’t any anymore. Unless you call 2.0 diesels fast. Maybe scrape a 46 auto 330d
I think you probably have a bunch of viewers who just pick up the occasional video, I was one of them but just subbed 👍
I see this channel booming ayy, good stuff
(Scirocco 2.0 TSi 😁)
Also where the F is the B7 RS4, can get for £10k, understated and would blow all these in vid apart with ease, even more so if corners are involved.
Got an old Volvo s80 it's got the t6 engine in it ! Incredible fast
W169 A200 Turbo by far my favourite sleeper. It can smoke people off in daily taffic for a fraction of those 10k (where i live they are 1000EUR due to high engine tax since its over 2L). People will think you are driving just a normal a class
Jaguar xjr 4.0 v8 supercharged, 370bhp standard
Love these sleepers, got a 335 bmw tourer shadow edition d 19 plate (only 5 sold in uk) and boy do I like upsetting some high performance cars 4.7 to 60mph with 310 bhp.
Cool story bro
Rover 75 V8: 260hp, 150mph, 0-60 7.2. Being only available in 2005, is rarer than the Saab!
V8 Jags:
S Type 400hp, 155mph, 0-60 5.3; XJR X308 370hp, 155mph (limited), 0-60 5.6
5.0 supercharged isn't yet in the £10k bracket but shouldn't be long! (510hp, 155mph limited, 0-60 4.7)
I wanted a sleeper car for sleeping in it for long journeys like road trips continental stile, if it’s possible for you to do a video on it be brilliant. Anyway cheers for all your great videos I enjoy watching & peace ✌️
If you want a
what do you think of the jag xf sportbrake
Love the look of it
Lookin for a cheap sleeper? Lincoln MKS Ecoboost from 2010 to 2018. Can be had for under 10 grand US. With a $600.00 tune the car goes 0-60 in 3.9. Its all wheel drive. The parts are cheap and as long as you change the oil in the PTU your golden. Many have fallen prey to this beast. This is the same as the Ford Tauraus SHO.
As the man inferred... have 25% of the cars value annually to maintain these bad boys! I have had my fair share of older premium motors and whilst you feel a million dollars driving them a painful invoice is never too far away!
man , that saab
The list vids are soo lit bro
Thank you for your eloquent and polite response. 50/60s you say for sleepers? Not what I’ve read. Doesn’t mean it’s wrong though seeing as Wikipedia isn’t the most reliable source for info fishing. I delete my comments as I don’t want to poo poo 💩 your channel. I enjoy it. Just don’t agree with what is considered a “sleeper” you have a new sub.
No worries! I enjoy the challenge/enjoy the difference of opinions. Tomorrow will be my final (probably) in the series of cheap sleeper cars vids, as a forewarning, but what I’ll do is start researching over the weekend exactly how sleepers started/where they came from/the history of, and prepare a ‘history of sleeper cars’ style video once I’ve done the research (just with a more interesting title)
Awesome. I’ll be watching and no doubt learning. 👍
Solid list. I think I'd take the Lexus and Volvo/Audi 🤔
Good video, in regards to sleepers I bought an E500 coupe 2 months ago and it catches people out everytime and I got it for a bargain of £9000. Also very hard to find.

Love a sleeper! My daily is a base spec 3.2 VR6 A3 750hp but doesn’t look it in the slightest
The e55 is such a great used buy, I saw someone on Instagram post them hitting 430k on their e55
Would you say an mx5 would make a decent first car for a 20 year old who already has access to his parents cars when more practicality is needed? Been driving a 2020 BMW 116d and it's starting to feel a bit boring, so I'm looking for something more exciting
JBBB YOU THE GOATTT
For the lexus i would just get a gs430. They may be quick but they encourage you to just waft about rather than race.
now get a sleepers for under 2k video made ,,, thats the real bargain threshold ... under 1k is just scrap heap cash ,,, so I think 2k is the mark. a months wages for most folk the perfect amount to spend if you crash or kill your car , or the spending limit on a new credit card
