I am neither Democrat or Republican. They are two sides of the same coin. They protect corporate interests over the interests of the citizens of NYC. So let's tell the truth here. First really Jenny? Where did your family come from? Second, the sanctuary city law has been in effect since the late 1970's. It was established by Mayor Koch (D) to accommodate Russian Jews who were coming from USSR. Mayor's Giuliani(R) and Bloomberg(R) doubled down on the policy because doing so provided a steady, low wage union busting ,exploitable workforce for their construction and hospitality industry -donors- cronies. Wilhelm DeBlasio (D) was no different and followed suit. Adams (D)who actually began his political career as a Republican tried to overturn the policy by executive order and the City Council wouldn't let him. It was only then, when asked at a press conference what his next step would be, that he said "welcome them."
Immigration is and has always been a federal issue that neither the Republicans or Democrats ever fixed for the same reasons that the previous Mayors of NYC never overturned the sanctuary city policy.

People in both Chicago and New York are asking Donald Trump to come do a rally in Harlem and in that part of Chicago whose had so much trouble with that mayor trying to run roughshod over those residents. Just think of the strain on all those aged water and sewer pipes that the city doesn't have money to fix and none of these migrants are paying anything in taxes for. Next big storm event hope everyone has waders and lots of sanitizer. Plus the free electricity, food, clothes, medical care, and legal aid. The loss of tourism in Chicago, NYC and Denver must be well into the millions by now.
And what about the huge rat infestations in NYC that go unfixed?
