I got that metal tack strip as I’m beginning to do minor light Ulpholstery. I had no idea how to use it and thanks to you I feel confidant. Thank you vikki from new york
I'm just learning to reupholster and I love watching your videos...you are the best by far that I have seen on you tube...thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Aimee, I just discovered you when searching for tips on vehicle interiors. There is nothing better than learning from a pretty lady. You have a great way of explaining your process. Thanks for the knowledge.
I used this method when I did the back of my chair, I found that when I put the the curvy next to the cording that it went over the cording just slightly. So on my next chair I pulled it down about a sixteenth of an inch and it worked fine. Was I doing something wrong. I really appreciate you videos! You are an excellent teacher!
I guess I was in a hurry to view more of your videos and forgot to submit a comment, even though I did Like it. I always have to go back a review what I have seen as I often forget to Like them. So this one was very helpful to me as I have been struggling with working curves. Seen several other RUclipss that didn't work for me, yours does, so a redo for me to make them look right. Oops, is Curves and Corners them same, Duh! Forgot which one I was reviewing, but this one will be useful soon.
I really enjoy your videos! You are great at explaining things. I just wish I was as precise with my staple gun as you! Cant for the life of me aim into the ply grips holes
Would it be possible that you could do a video with tack strips? Like the long straight ones? I know a lot of people like to hand stitch close, but I want to learn how to use the straight metal tack strips? Or could you point me to a video that uses this?
So Amy, I love your videos and find them very helpful. But, could you please try to zoom in closer in future videos so we can see up close what you’re doing?
I have a question i hope you can answer... i have an old lawn mower seat and its just the metal chair now with no cusion or foam and im wondering if i used vinyl, how would it hold to the metal?? I was thinking maybe some of that black trim stuff that clamps on to the edge of the metal... thanks for any ideas.
I would try headliner adhesive. It’s a spray adhesive, it will stick it to the metal. You’d have to be pretty good with vinyl to give it a finished look. You could also use the trim around the edge.
Can you use the ply grip with heavyweight vinyl? And if not what would you recommend? I’m combing through your videos and realizing I picked out the most difficult fabric to reupholster my couch, but it’s so lovely I want to try and make it work.
@@ArtisanUpholsteryStudio Which porter cable model would you recommend for someone who is just getting into the game? One that you can get away with using on a good amount of projects? So many different pneumatic staplers out there I've become dizzy. LOL. Love love love all your videos!
Wouldn't it be easier to do invert method, because u didn't use on the sides??... I only use pli grip strip, when i have to go curves on top and straight on the sides...especially under arms..
Check out diyupholsterysupplies.com. I’m not sure where they ship internationally, but I know it’s costly to ship. It might be better for you to hand stitch your items, that’s what I would do if I didn’t have access to the ply-grip. 😊

This can happen with thick fabric.

Lol it does look like a torture device! But a very professional looking result. Curious to see how you finish the side seam....cliffhanger! Haha
Can you set decorative tacks / nails over the metal strip?

I have a piece shaped like a wide "U" with inside and outside corners, should I start on the outside the move to inside?
Hello, iguess this ply grip does not work with leather?
I’m looking for a good corner solution. A sitting chair made of wood.
Kind greetings ruud
amy, you're a doll

Try it!
Great job with the show as you go tutorial ...but the music turn it down it's annoying and unnecessary..
Very informative and easy on the eyes!
I LOVE your videos!
Thank you!
I don’t have an air stapler and my hand, flat nosed stapler won’t secure this edging. Can I tack it on? If so what tacks would you suggest?
I would suggest hand stitching the back on instead. Ply grip should be stapled.
I am from missisasagua.. can we meet up?? ..plz let me know. Great work btw..
Aimee, I noticed below a question from Mohbad about Upholstery Supplies and the company DIY Upholstery Supply filed bankruptcy.
Yes, i think that question is quite old
How to staple pli grips? Because i am using stanley stapler and pli grips from amazon but the staple cant go through the pli grip.
What kind of staple gun do you use? I cant seem to find one that works all the time.
Porter cable

The specs for upholstery staples are: 22 gauge, “C” crown, 3/8” x 3/8”. If you get a stapler that shoots these staples, it will work for you.

Why not just use a dike or other tool for cutting the metal.
