Average time to 60 on Nost was 10 days
10*24*60 = 14,400 minutes
Rounding time to 60 from 47 to 50 minutes
14,400/50 = 288
He levelled 288 times faster to 60 than in Vanilla. That is absolutely insane

yeah that's pretty quick if you ignore the amount of prep time it involves to set this up.
Gotta farm a formidable chunk of gold to get the elixirs of rapid mind. One costs on my server 6k. They last 15 minutes each so you have to buy at minimum 20. Important to say, minimum. That is 120k which is insane!
Then you have to grind out the other potions from the rare drop. They are quite wanted and you need at minimum 4 pieces. You probably spent hours with that.
After that you have to buy the base game which now costs 15€ in order to get the refer a friend bonus. If you have a friend then he has to pay 120k gold and grind out the potions.
If you don't have someone who is willing to do it, you have to multibox through it so another 120k gold + hours of grinding is involved.
If you don't have a friend and decide to go alone you won't get insta queues. Because of that the potions run out and you will have to replace them. That costs around 200k gold.
So all in all together, I dare to say leveling in vanilla is a walk through the park compared to the amount of effort and time you have to pour into preparing this.
Yeah well this isn't vanilla no more, or Nostalrius, nowadays leveling has become a joke, so get used to it i guess, same with the 3 button hero classes, almost every class is a 2-3 button hero, wich wasn't the case from vanilla till cata, now it's just lol, everything is too easy

When I started Vanilla, it took me a few months to get to 60. Reading every quest, farming for my professions on the way, making friends, socializing with people (sometimes just spent hours dueling, or exploring just to adventure) I actually met in the world around me. God, I remember starting my Warlock, I was level 13, I had seen a level 22 Warlock with a Succubus standing next to him, I was in 'Awe'. I remember exactly where it was too, on the other side of the bridge heading into Duskwood from Westfall. It was so dark, and gloomy, I loved it. OMG I also remember travelling from Lakeshire into Burning Steps at level 20 or so, I saw my first Skull High Level monster, I attacked it and ran, it followed me all the way to lakeshire and killed everyone. Glad I made it to the griffin master.

I tried out nostalrius ages ago. Took me i think 8 hours of played time to get to level 10. In those 10 levels i grouped and quested with 8 different people in the starting undead zone. I grouped with more people in 10 levels on a private server (that had no where near the amount of subs they have on retail) than i would have 1-100 in wod. RIP WoW

If the guild decides to kick someone over something like this and it turns out to be you and you are not willing to level a new priest they are just too progression oriented for you and you should join a more casual one. It takes 5 hours to get to lvl 100 in wow, but it takes 3 years for this video to get recommended to me.
I know this is an old video, but 90-100 can be done in less than an hour. All you need is the elixir of rapid mind, boa gear, flying, and some setup. The main set up is clearing all but 1 mob in the bonus objectives in respective starting WOD areas and Spires. Then mark a route of treasures between the bonus objective areas. Grab treasures, kill mob for bonus objective, and keep repeating, then fly to spires and finish up. I did this for 2 of my toons after getting flying back in WoD so unless the exp gains from the treasures and bonus objectives have been nerfed, still totally doable. Meaning your total time 1-100 could be around 3 hours with this method.

+comey51 It still does, this is just using heirlooms, raf and xp pots. No new player (or non-rich player) can get that, and if you weren't smart enough to set up your garrison for max profit on several toons at least a few months prior to attempting this, you probably won't be able to afford to do this w/o dedicating a week or so to farming up gold. On top of that, he's also using an untradeable potion with a super low drop chance, so you'll have to dedicate probably at least 2-3 days to farming enough pots to last you to 100.
*I'm not saying that leveling isn't incredibly fast nowadays. It is.* But using this method is totally unrealistic unless you've got cash to drop for an RAF, lots of gold, probably at least a couple days of setup for the xp pots, and a friend who's willing to do RAF with you (or a PC that can run multiple WoWs, which isn't hard to get, but still another requirement). You'll also need to buy them a full set of BOAs and pots unless they've also got a lot of cash to blow and for some reason want to not use their current WoW account.
My little brother came back to WoW after quitting during Cata (he never even got a character to level cap) just a few days ago, and it took him 2 days of consistent play just to level his resto druid from 1-58 wearing full heirlooms.
TL;DR: Even without all the boosts, leveling is still incredibly fast compared to how it used to be. Without the use of all these incredibly pricey XP boosts and dedicating a long time to farming your untradeable XP boosts, though, it will still take 3-5 days or so to level a character from 1-100, and that's if you're going hard spamming dungeon queues as a tank with BoAs.

Time spent to level in this EXTREMELY streamlined method takes nearly five hours +plenty of gold. Typical means will vary, but I'd say you're going to take 15+ hours played even assuming fully loomed.
Even working a minimum wage job will net you 60 dollars in less time.

The good ol' days where if you wanted to level fast because you already leveled dozens of toons from 1 to max through Vanilla, TBC, WoLK, Cata, MoP, WoD and Legion you could just RaF + Heirlooms *AND IF YOU DIDN'T WANT TO LEVEL FAST YOU HAD THE OPTION TO NOT USE THOSE ITEMS OR RAF.* Now you have no option but to drudge through leveling you've done countless times unless you want to shell out real money for a boost.
I remember back in Vanilla when the Duskwood server first opened it took me 1 month to hit 60. It opened on a Monday and 4 Mondays later I hit 60 with a few other people...and then we had to wait for everyone else to catch up so we could raid.

Another thing that leveled them faster was the fact that one was a healer and the other was a tank so they were getting dungeons a lot quicker.

no nothing is wrong. Without heirlooms and depending on the starting zone, you spent at minimum 5-6 hours getting to level 20.
I know because I played up a trial account from 1 to 20. I played a worgen and his play time is 8 hours of which probably quite a few minutes were afk.
I also have a pandaren rogue. Currently level 44. Full heirlooms. Took according to ingame timer 8 hours, 56 minutes and 53 seconds. Quite a few minutes afk as well but oh well.

BadaBling i have a worgen level 20. Played him on a trial account. Made him a tank so queue times wouldn't be so long. Play time 5 hours and 20 minutes of which quite a few minutes are wasted due to being afk.
So if you take it slow, reading quest logs 5 up to 6 hours are realistic.

There are a few things that make this whole leveling up thing;
The main potions he used for XP are no longer in the game.
He is playing a class he plays a lot so he already knows what to do, where to put what, therefore leveling is already easier.
He is using doing recruit a friend which is only available for one account therefore you can’t just keep using it.
At the time the potions were extremely expensive in the AC and had an extremely low drop chance with a rare spawn on top of that.
It was like 8-11 percent drop chance, that's not rare

I can probably do it in a week playing a couple hours a day and I just have normal heirloom gear. The problem is that at about level 35-40 I get bored and quit, its just so boring man. The amazing thing about this video isn't that you leveled from 1 to 100 in 5 hours, its that you could can play this game for 5 hours straight without going insane.

So... Rapid Minds cost about ~20k on my server and they last for 15 minutes. If he needed about 4hrs 22min he needed about 17 potions, so 17x20k=340k gold, which is equal to 3.5 months of gametime on EU (7 months on US) which would cost you 40 Euros or $80. An instant lvl100 boost costs $60 so... is it still worth it for muricans?
They used to only cost like 5k iirc. Plus he's a streamer and ppl give him free gold.

I play this game for 200 years now.. I've lvl'd 5000 characters so when Blizzards gives me the option to buy a character boost for money I can't call it cheating.
It is not about "cheating" but about how much it is worth or not to boost a character this way.

+mattflub I leveled my resto druid from 1-100 with no heirlooms for lulz. It was actually pretty great, especially if you have some gold and grab some sick raid gear or the pvp epics from Dalaran at level 80. I wore that gear from 80-91 and it was stronger than most of the pandaria gear. I highly recommend it if youre not using heirlooms. Especially if you enjoy battelgrounds. You will, in fact, annihilate people.

Your math is off, because RAF scales multiplicatively with the rest.
100% base xp + 300% elixir + 300% elixir + 45% heirlooms = 745%

Seems like there's a lot of prep works that goes into this. I feel like if you're trying to make a point here, you'd need to take into account all the farming that goes into that prep work as well.

And honestly, most people play for the endgame anyway. So many MMOs come out these days that have decent leveling experiences, yet die because the endgame isn't strong. An MMO isn't really about the leveling experience, even if it can be done better.

Since leveling is just doing the developer's job to un-brake your toon so you can actually start playing the game, boosts are one of the best things to happen to WoW.
sure, skip literally every dungeon from 1-100, that wont make the game dull sooner than growing attatched to your character putting effort into it.
Hazard Pay 35 I've already don every dungeon from 1-100. I've tanked/healed/dps'd it at some point on some other toon. When I boost a new toon I skip nothing new. The whole point of boosting is to skip over content we've already seen and get to the fresh end-game asap.
It is sad to remember that this game actually used to be so good. But they managed to fuck it up so hard.
You can do 90-100 in about 45 minutes with rapid mind collecting treasures, so 1-100 can be done in under 3 hours

To my point, if they made it harder just cause many people want it that way, they most likely would lose subs. But if they don't make it harder, they won't be gaining new subs either.

It exists in the form of Mythic raids and high end PvP, yet the percentage of players who actually participate in those are incredibly low. Go look at the percentages on wowprogress and tell me that people actually want to participate in hard content. Or go look at the forums complaining that the raids this expansion have been too difficult, screaming for nerfs. Nearly a year into Mythic HFC and only 3% of people who raid have completed Mythic Archimonde, and it's less than 1% if you include those who don't raid at all. Then look at the percentage of players who have ever earned a 2k rating, and it's even less.
The option for hard content is there, and is always represented by the lowest percentages of the player base. At one point Blizz was going to remove Heroic, before it became Mythic and Normal became Heroic, because there weren't enough people participating. It's the lack of outside content that is driving people away.
+Zane Baker you're talking about game ending content when Soda and I are talking about level progression. The vanilla server wouldn't have much game ending content like you're saying but it would have slow level progression.
