I'm only 2 minutes in, but I love this lady! She is clear, precise, sure of herself. Great teacher!
She is much better than the teacher I had!!!
I feel like I'm attending an online class so fun!
As a totally green sewer who has never sewn in her life, I have found the Creative Bug sewing tutorials to be the absolute best. I really needed to see all the little details in the process and you did an amazing job. Thank you so much. I will probably watch this a dozen times before I actually begin this project!
It's silly I'm watching this class, I've been sewing for 40 years... and I get tears in my eyes reading all the comments from people learning to sew here... I tell everybody I can about Creativebug:) The monthly $4.99 is so worth having unlimited access to the variety of classes and great teaching here! And I'm NOT being paid to say this!!!! :):):)
+Gerrie Louden .. I bought the pattern because I saw creative bug .. I don't think I would have mind paying had I known that in the beginning .. I think it was misleading // perhaps that's why others are annoyed
I'm sure it IS worth $5/ month this is an AWESOME video!!! The trickery and teasing is likely the part that is bothering most people. In a world where we can get FREE tutorials and FREE videos creative bug could actually make money through RUclips and advertising companies rather than charging the viewers.
If Creativebug did that, they wouldn't be able to hire the top-caliber instructors they have. They put intros to classes on RUclips to spread the word about what they have -- and doing that keeps prices down (as opposed to TV ads).
Everybody wants something for nothing, and that's what I see so often in video comments. People think it's so easy to put together a class and tape it, so they think it should be free.
The Craftsy site charges for each class, and some of them are pretty expensive, although they have frequent sales. Creativebug has the same variety of classes (sewing, cooking, painting, furniture refinishing, leatherworking, etc), and you can watch as many as you wish for $4.99 a month. Both sites do a phenomenal job filming what is being taught, so it's almost as good as in-person one-on-one private lessons. You also get free patterns in many cases... Yes there are some great videos out on You Tube. But not on the same level as Creativebug and Craftsy.
I agree with you 100000000000% about the quality and the price. It was a GREAT video. It helped me (very early beginner never sewed before) feel ALOT more confident sewing. It just feels kinda sneaky and tricky the way they are doing it. People don't like to be tricked or teased. The video should say "intro, to get the full video pay $5" then people wouldn't be so upset. That's all I'm saying. Nobody likes to be lured or tricked...
I will say that these videos are very helpful to someone who knows NOTHING about sewing.
I love this woman, she's so helpful and informative.
She said she would walk you through it and that exactly what she did. I really enjoyed this video, cause she got right to the point she explained what she was doing and how it was done. This is the best video I've seen yet, If you can't sew after this you really can't sew.
I just bought my first sewing machine. I was bopping around on RUclips for some beginner videos. I came across this one this morning and was thrilled. I want to tell you that I just went to your website and signed up for premium access. I never even knew you existed! Thank you so much!!!! I'm so excited!
Melyni, I am planning to start my skirt soon. Do you want to sew together?
This woman is AMAZING! Clear and helpful, thank you so much! Enjoyed every second of it
Thank you so much for making this video, you are an excellent instructor. I learned so much from your videos. Just wonderful, I can listen to you for hours.
Yes to Creative Bug as mentioned below. They have this exact video and TONS more for a free trial, then $7.95/mo after if you like it. It’s a great site! Thank you for the tip!!
The production quality of this lesson is fantastic.
I love this lady, she explains everything and carefully and in ways that is so easy to get. I love simpicity and even more now that this lady is a part of this company
You are a wonderful teacher. This has been so clear, thank you!

Wonderful, no nonsense instructor. I love you!
Just in love with the eggplant color. Definitely making this for my second skirt. This has been very helpful to me as I am a bit nervous about learning to sew.
After watching her share so much knowledge and expertise in Part 1not only am I hooked I am encouraged to pull out that old machine and give it a go! She articulates so well I think I can follow her in an online class... How much? Loll!!!

would've been a lot more helpful if there was footage of her cutting out the rest of the pieces, thats the main problem for me.
Love it I'm going to try it
I like this nice lady she is a real expert explaining every thing in details , I really learned a good deal . I would like to know where I can buy these patterns and if possible to buy them online as I live in Riyadh , Saudi Arabia and I do not know if I can find them in the stores here.
Thank you very much .
Majd Hennawi
really good tutorial sad that it wasnt finished
watching just a few of these sewing videos makes it seem so much simpler than when you just look at the patterns. i really feel like i'm learning. what sewing machine are you using? does anyone know?
SpookyCharms It's a Brother SB3129, they answered earlier before (or after??) you commented. My daughter has one, and it's a very good machine, especially for beginners.
When purchasing a sewing machine be careful of those inexpensive ones you find at the craft store as they are made with plastic parts which quickly wear out. Since machines run the gamut of prices, spend time trying them out at the various sewing machine suppliers. Different kinds of sewing require different features. If you love sewing clothing, you will want a machine that enables you to use various couture stitching, easy, neat buttonholes, sew various thickness of fabric, etc. If you are a quilter, you'll be looking for a machine that is easy to quilt on, etc. Many new machines also have embroidery and specialty stitches. Don't overlook your sewing machine repairman who may have several secondhand machines.
Thank you.
I recently purchased the pattern for the black dress you have in the background. Is there a tutorial for it?
Does this lady have private classes?? I love listening to her. Good luck to me though making this skirt 🙉😫
Designer is my dream
Thanks super helpful!
Thank you so much for this great tutorial. I would like to make this skirt in full length (Waist to the floor). How do I lengthened it please? TIA
Am currently doing the same thing. What I did was measure 15” from waist down and using my grainline or fold line as reference, I draw an horizontal straight line across from Center front (and Center back) to the side, cut them apart add insert my extra 10”…that way, am able to conserve my hemline
Good luck with it 😊
I have really struggled with pattern sizing due to the excessive ease. I usually use the finished garment measurents to avoid the extra 4-5 inches of ease in fitted styles. Why is there always such extra ease?
Thank you for this video
thanks
Very informative. Thank you. :-)
Quick tip I learned the hard way. The width of the fabric bolt matters and they are not all the same width!! My (uncut) fabric was not wide enough to place all the pattern pieces properly. The part of the instructions that has the pattern layouts in two different options, they says 44" 45" or 58" 60", this means the width of the fabric bolt!!!! In this case you are supposed to buy even more fabric than the package requires. I wound up using scrap fabric for half of the pockets.
great video
This is a very helpful video, thank you. I had a question about the fusible interfacing, do you prewash it? I think I didn't in the past and I remember some funny things happening to it. Thanks in advance for your help!
good for beginners
Never thought it will be this complicating to sew. I want one so bad. Lol
I:m glad,I found you,Inow have you to follow dealing with sewing and etc,
I would like if you could keep me posted on everything to learn about sewing I'm so happy that you TEXT ME back thank again
Look who I just found! It was so awesome meeting you at the ***** conference last month! This is an awesome video and now I have to sign up to *****! I had a subscription and let it run out. I'll be signing up again. Love it.
your very newbie friendly thanks just subscribed
informative, thanks
For view E are pieces 3, 4 cut out on the fold to make one long piece, or cut out in the folded area making 2 short pieces each?
Woooow woow ..I'm subscribing! :)
😩 tease ! I wanted to see the whole video
LOved!
hello, please could you tell me if the 25 inch below waist measurement is from the tip of the waistband or from the waistband seams?
wow most yutubers make enough from advertising but am I right in thinking you charge for the second half of making the skirt?
Your realy clever and creativ im just 10 jears old and i have a sewlingmachin too can you make more SEWLINGMACHIN projelts??? Like your videos💜💜💜💖
hi, I have a question about the pattern instruction that says seams are 5/8", is the 5/8" seam allowance added in the pattern or you have to add another?
where can I find the scond part of the making a skirt video ? I cant find it in this channel. Many thanks
I really appreciate what your doing trying to help everyone to get comfortable sewing. Right off the bat though I am frustrated because I learned nothing about cutting the pattern. Most anyone can follow a straight line cut but I can not imagine that very
many people have the exact measurements of the pattern. Just a quick tip on this
would have made life easier. I am 5'5" and I weigh 105lbs, My measurements are 34" 28" 331/2" . According to the best of my ability to figure it out I am a size 14. No offense intended, but how are you a size 10?? I must be doing something wrong ..Anyway sorry just really want to learn ..
***** thank you that made a world of difference for me .....thanks!!!
I'm just starting out trying to learn how to sew my own clothes. I'm very petite so my question is does simplicity make patterns for smaller than size 4?
Can anyone tell me what kind of machine she's using?!
I want one that cuts the thread that way!!! :D
I like her cloth style :) I want to find a place where I can learn how to cut patterns.
correct. do you have a realy school? I mean not the online school?
Zhihua Zhuang ***** Look on Creative bug for Cal Patch's pattern drafting class. She explains things really clearly and you'll be able to design your own pattern for a simple dress and top -- there is also a pattern class for making a pattern for leggings.
Thanks for great video..
Saya sekeluarga ambil yg haq sahaja.Tiada yg lain.dulu kini dan selamanya...
Please make a tutorial about the New Look pattern #6296
So of panel "2" I'm cutting two of them?
How do you fold the fabric? I folded mine to cut the first piece (skirt) and now the rest of the pieces don’t fit. I even got extra length.
How do you do the double thickness? Is that necessary?
I wish she would have shown how to fold the fabric to cut pieces 2-5. Would have been helpful, I am stuck now too
Would this work for a printed border skirt? How would I adjust the pattern?
What kind of fabric is the purple skirt made of? She just says 'file type'. I buy most fabric online because I don't live near many fabric shops and I want a skirt with lots of structure like hers, so would love to know what kind to look for. Thanks!
She uses a "faille" fabric
where is the next part to this video? I can't find it...... please help
✿ Does anybody know what exact fabric that is? ✿
I'm new to this and have no idea what to get so I want to get as close to the materials in the video as possible.
Thank you very much!
