    As a totally green sewer who has never sewn in her life, I have found the Creative Bug sewing tutorials to be the absolute best. I really needed to see all the little details in the process and you did an amazing job. Thank you so much. I will probably watch this a dozen times before I actually begin this project!

  • @Carol-Bell
    @Carol-Bell 9 лет назад +24

    It's silly I'm watching this class, I've been sewing for 40 years... and I get tears in my eyes reading all the comments from people learning to sew here... I tell everybody I can about Creativebug:) The monthly $4.99 is so worth having unlimited access to the variety of classes and great teaching here! And I'm NOT being paid to say this!!!! :):):)

      +Gerrie Louden .. I bought the pattern because I saw creative bug .. I don't think I would have mind paying had I known that in the beginning .. I think it was misleading // perhaps that's why others are annoyed

    • @persianprincess8764
      @persianprincess8764 8 лет назад +2

      I'm sure it IS worth $5/ month this is an AWESOME video!!! The trickery and teasing is likely the part that is bothering most people. In a world where we can get FREE tutorials and FREE videos creative bug could actually make money through RUclips and advertising companies rather than charging the viewers.

    • @Carol-Bell
      @Carol-Bell 8 лет назад

      If Creativebug did that, they wouldn't be able to hire the top-caliber instructors they have. They put intros to classes on RUclips to spread the word about what they have -- and doing that keeps prices down (as opposed to TV ads).
      Everybody wants something for nothing, and that's what I see so often in video comments. People think it's so easy to put together a class and tape it, so they think it should be free.
      The Craftsy site charges for each class, and some of them are pretty expensive, although they have frequent sales. Creativebug has the same variety of classes (sewing, cooking, painting, furniture refinishing, leatherworking, etc), and you can watch as many as you wish for $4.99 a month. Both sites do a phenomenal job filming what is being taught, so it's almost as good as in-person one-on-one private lessons. You also get free patterns in many cases... Yes there are some great videos out on You Tube. But not on the same level as Creativebug and Craftsy.

    • @persianprincess8764
      @persianprincess8764 8 лет назад +1

      I agree with you 100000000000% about the quality and the price. It was a GREAT video. It helped me (very early beginner never sewed before) feel ALOT more confident sewing. It just feels kinda sneaky and tricky the way they are doing it. People don't like to be tricked or teased. The video should say "intro, to get the full video pay $5" then people wouldn't be so upset. That's all I'm saying. Nobody likes to be lured or tricked...

  • @Bryanmn

    When purchasing a sewing machine be careful of those inexpensive ones you find at the craft store as they are made with plastic parts which quickly wear out. Since machines run the gamut of prices, spend time trying them out at the various sewing machine suppliers. Different kinds of sewing require different features. If you love sewing clothing, you will want a machine that enables you to use various couture stitching, easy, neat buttonholes, sew various thickness of fabric, etc. If you are a quilter, you'll be looking for a machine that is easy to quilt on, etc. Many new machines also have embroidery and specialty stitches. Don't overlook your sewing machine repairman who may have several secondhand machines.

      Am currently doing the same thing. What I did was measure 15” from waist down and using my grainline or fold line as reference, I draw an horizontal straight line across from Center front (and Center back) to the side, cut them apart add insert my extra 10”…that way, am able to conserve my hemline
      Good luck with it 😊

    Quick tip I learned the hard way. The width of the fabric bolt matters and they are not all the same width!! My (uncut) fabric was not wide enough to place all the pattern pieces properly. The part of the instructions that has the pattern layouts in two different options, they says 44" 45" or 58" 60", this means the width of the fabric bolt!!!! In this case you are supposed to buy even more fabric than the package requires. I wound up using scrap fabric for half of the pockets.

    I really appreciate what your doing trying to help everyone to get comfortable sewing. Right off the bat though I am frustrated because I learned nothing about cutting the pattern. Most anyone can follow a straight line cut but I can not imagine that very
    many people have the exact measurements of the pattern. Just a quick tip on this
    would have made life easier. I am 5'5" and I weigh 105lbs, My measurements are 34" 28" 331/2" . According to the best of my ability to figure it out I am a size 14. No offense intended, but how are you a size 10?? I must be doing something wrong ..Anyway sorry just really want to learn ..

    How do you fold the fabric? I folded mine to cut the first piece (skirt) and now the rest of the pieces don’t fit. I even got extra length.
    How do you do the double thickness? Is that necessary?

      I wish she would have shown how to fold the fabric to cut pieces 2-5. Would have been helpful, I am stuck now too

    Would this work for a printed border skirt? How would I adjust the pattern?

    What kind of fabric is the purple skirt made of? She just says 'file type'. I buy most fabric online because I don't live near many fabric shops and I want a skirt with lots of structure like hers, so would love to know what kind to look for. Thanks!

    ✿ Does anybody know what exact fabric that is? ✿
    I'm new to this and have no idea what to get so I want to get as close to the materials in the video as possible.
    Thank you very much!
