- I review the new Ecosa Rio Sofa bed. With CertiPUR-US® certified polyurethane foam and 100% OceanCycled™ Recycled Polyester its a great additional to any home office or spare room, to allow that versatility when working from home.
Ive forever been searching for a memory foam mattress style sofa which prioritises the sleep/bed more so than the couch. Its mostly this, happy watching.

Great job man, that’s how a review should be done! Not like most of reviewers on RUclips talking nonsense for 30 mins and still not getting to the key points! 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks so much this honest review. I’ve been looking at this couch for a while and I could not find any video where the bed was made with a fitted sheet which made me think there’s a reason for that. Bit of a shame there is no way to fully make it a bed without adding something on top but you’ve helped me to make my decision. Thank you!
Kia Ora Cody, thanks for the review mate. Exactly what we needed!
Thanks Cody. I've been scrounging trying to find reviews. This was really helpful!
Super helpful and honest review - thanks so much Cody!
Awesome review! Had been looking at this sofa bed but the online reviews left me a bit indecisive 🤔 This review helped me make my choice confidently and I am looking forward to having this in my new house 😄
Thanks for your honest review...i was looking at buying one ...and the main thing for me was comfort...you are right...il have to buy a topper...and in a cabin...that will be annoying...id like a 1 stop sofa....but you saved me wasting my money on a 2 - part sofa...so thank you
I used the rocker prior to baby delivery when I was up in the middle of the night due to heartburn and loved it! Little one is now 6 days old and loves the rocker ruclips.net/user/postUgkxXH3jIpsn6vpr3D26KWAriUejh7CSxVp7 , she gets great sleep when used. I had a 1st degree tear repair so sitting can be very uncomfortable and down right painful when the rx mortin wears off, however even then the rocker is firm enough for support but soft enough to feel comfortable. I'm 4'9" so I fit in the chair easily and my 6"3' friend also can sit comfortably in it with a little one. 💖 I would definitely recommend this rocker as a must have for any parent to be👍
Solid review!
Thanks for this. Convinced me not to but one of these👍
great review 💯
Yep killed it!! Thanks so much ❤
Loved hearing a Kiwi accent come up. Nga mihi bro
The another point is I thought it would of been nice to have the back cushion removable so that it could be a single kids bed without needing to unfold it.
Hey ! I have been looking for a review on this product and I found this super helpful. I am looking for a sofa bed for my tiny apartment. I’ll be predominantly using this as a couch but it’ll be good to have a spare mattress when I have guests over. How is this when used as a sofa? I game a lot on my Xbox so I’ll be a couch potato during the weekends. How has the rio held up over the past seven months?
thanks :-)
Can you please tell me what size sheets you use? And with the topper, do you use a fitted sheet just over that? We just bought one of these couches and a plush second-hand Wallace Cotton mattress topper.
Hey thanks for the review. A year on how’s the sofa itself? Assuming that the couch gets daily use? Eg if there’s a spot you sit on a lot, is it sunken or holding up? Cheers!
Hi Cody - thanks so much for sharing. We are thinking of buying for our main living room due to the long wait for a couch anywhere else really. Would you recommend it as a couch only (no bed) for daily use in term of comfort and practicality? Thank you!
Absolutely, it's an easy choice as a sofa in terms of comfort and was only about a week or so from purchase to it arriving at home.
Thanks for this I've been looking for a review on this sofa! What shade do you have , is it the lighter one or dark one? Our carpet looks almost the same shade as the darker grey so hard to decide what colour to go for. Just concerned that the lighter grey is tooo light...
This is the light grey, very much blue undertones so if it's a cooler grey it would suit
the darker color is more darker in real life than on website. the lighter grey is quite light.
Hi Cody, I love the look of this sofa, I have a bit of a personal issue when it comes to creases! I just hate them and like the taut showroom look of this. Can you tell me after sitting on it for long periods how much creasing is there and does it flatten out easily/quickly? has it also started to sag in the middle after use? any help would be appreciated. I live in Townsville, Qld and unsure about delivery as well, can you please tell me which contractor Ecosa used for your delivery?
Hi Bernice, this foam is really quite dense and high quality, i can confirm it wont sag or crease like you mention with this style of sofa and hasn't shown any signs of it in my use. I actually design bespoke furniture for a living so I know the kind of fill you're referring to. Can't remember the carrier sorry but Im near Queenstown, New Zealand so assume it will be different anyway. They are in cardboard boxes when arriving so well protected but that also means a bit of packing to get rid of. Hope this helps
Thanks for the review. I won’t be buying it now and it’s not good value if I need to buy a mattress topper as well
sofa bed arms should be covered with fabric and wide sofa bed should be long and the back should be high, the bed should be a little thick

Can I ask how it came.. was it in boxes? How many? Was it Heavy?
They come in 2 large thick cardboard boxes, 1 box had the 2 arms, the other had the sofa fully set up with a bag of the screw in feet. Decent weight but like any sofa, manageable with 2 people.
Would you consider this a more firm couch or cozy??
Definitely firm but not uncomfortable, think like when you get the foam mattress kind of feel
Better than sleeping on the floor I bet 😂
Kia ora, was just wondering if you think this would be easy to get stains out/clean? Nga mihi
Ahiahi Pai, yes. Polyester is one of the easiest fabrics to clean because stains do not soak into the fabric like cotton. If you are concerned, the best bet would be to go for the darker grey colour to hide any potential grubbiness the best!
the fabric doesn't resisit any stains. a professional stain remover can do spot clean will help.
Such a shame it has an ugly colour. Hope they create something that also looks nice
