yes EXO are under SM Entertainment as well, NCT are their juniors (debuted 4 years after EXO) and the youngest boy group under SM (there are 4 older boy groups in SM)

*NCT* (= Neo Culture Technology) is the brand name and under that brand there are 23 members and 4 units: NCT 127, NCT Dream, WayV, NCT U
- *NCT 127* is your typical korean boy group with 9 fixed members, their sound is usually rap heavy and represents the 'neo culture' the most
- *NCT Dream* is the teenage korean group with 7 fixed members, their sound is very young and pop-y (although it matured as the members got older)
- *WayV* is the chinese group with 7 fixed members, they are considered 'C-Pop' (Chinese Pop), their songs are all in mandarin-chinese, their sound is usually more sexy but also 'neo culture'
- *NCT U* is basically an all-star unit, every member under the NCT brand can participate in NCT U's songs if they fit the vibe, like with 90's Love there are 5 rappers who can also sing and are good at dancing + 2 vocals who are good at dancing, that's just the concept the company was going for with 90's Love so they picked 7 members who fit that the most

NCT is a huge group with 23 members and they basically don’t follow the trends on kpop because they make their own trend. That’s why some says that NCT’s music is kinda different, it’s like they’re making their own genre.

It’s simplified like this : imagine NCT as a brand like Vogue Magazine.
1. NCT 127 is Vogue Korea. 127 is the longitude of Seoul, South Korea. It represents their base / their origin. Mostly produced songs in Korean language eventho not everyone are from Korea (some are from Japan, Chicago, Canada).
2. WayV is Vogue China. This unit is designed to be marketed in China. They produced songs mostly in Mandarin, the members are from Hongkong, Taiwan, Macau, and ofc mainland China. But Ten was from Thailand.
3. NCT Dream is Vogue Teens (tho all the members are adult now but they mostly maintain the youth vibes, they’re the youngest line / maknae of all NCT)
4.NCT U = Vogue Special Edition. The U stands for United. So every once in awhile, they will make a join project. NCT U’s lineup is different for each song because they basically pick, mix and match any members from the existing fixed-units who suited a song the most, the lineup can consist of 2 people, 3, or 4, 5, 7 etc.
NCT 2020 is basically the big project of NCT as a whole. And like a school yearbook (cuz as of 2020 they have 23 members, but after this they will add more members). NCT 2020 project gave us an album called RESONANCE pt.1 and pt.2. Resonance album consist of the songs mainly by NCT U cuz it’s a joint project. So the lineup of each songs in this album are different and that’s why it’s so interesting cuz we got to see the variety of combination with each member’s strong power. But they also added 3 songs by respective fixed unit (127, Dream, WayV) in this album.
They’re very international. You can react to their song “From Home”, the original MV and also the re-arranged version performance and MV. This song represents how international they are. 12/23 members are foreigner, so they left home on their childhood to reach their dream and finally find a new home in each other. They sung this song in 4 different languages. 3 languages represents their natives (Korean, Mandarin, Japanese), all in 1 song.

The members are : Taeyong [ NCT 127 Leader & overall NCT Leader ], Taeil, Johnny, Yuta , Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo, Mark , Haechan & Winwin ( currently not active bc he's focus promoting in WayV ).
*NCT Dream* is the 3rd sub-unit of NCT. NCT Dream is a unit based of aged, they only have teen members,once they hit adult/legal age, they will graduate and move to other sub unit, and the group will have new members, but in 2020,their agency realese a statement that they will erase the graduation system and added Mark ( member that already graduated ) back in and change the system to be rotational unit with 7 members, so it's like some comeback they will have their complete 7 members. NCT Dream debuted on August 24 2016.
The members are : Mark [ graduated member ], Renjun , Jeno , Haechan , Jaemin , Chenle , Jisung.
*WayV or low-key known as NCT Vision* is a unit based in China. They're are the fourth sub-unit of NCT. WayV is under SM Entertainment's China exclusive label, Label V. The members are either Chinese or have Chinese descend. They promote in China and yup their songs is in Chinese. WayV debuted on January 17 2019.
The members are : Kun [ WayV leader ] , Ten , Winwin , Lucas , Xiaojun , Hendery , Yangyang.
*NCT U* is the first sub-unit of NCT. NCT U is based on genre/concept of the song, the Ustands for United, means any member from any sub unit can join if they suit the concept, The members vary from each song. NCT U debuted on April 9th 2016.
In *2018* they also have big project called *NCT 2018* which have all of the members that currently active that year ( and they coincidentally have *18* members that year, *3* new members were added later in *2019* when they debuted the China unit *WayV* ) and realese album with the title track called ' *Black On Black* ' that they all participated in. They're released an album called "Empathy".
So in 2020 NCT are back with their 2nd album called "Resonance". NCT 2020 Resonance is part of the "NCT 2020" project; which saw all current NCT members from several units collaborating on a full-length release. This time, the album features all 21 members from three current units of NCT; NCT 127, NCT Dream, and WayV, while introducing two new NCT members, namely Shotaro and Sungchan. The first part was released on October 12, 2020, with the second part was released on November 23, 2020.

NCT have unlimited number of member. For now, they have 23 member in total and they're divided into 4 sub-unit that is NCT127, NCT Dream, NCTU and WayV. NCTU is the unit that has a rotational concept so any member that under the group NCT can be in it but it's depends on the song. Whose voice is the most suitable can have the song. There are no permanent member in NCTU so you will see different member of NCT in each of their MVs. That's why NCTU has their own logo.

There was graduating system but they grew higher than they imagined it, and finally now they are fixed unit) and of course NCT China line, WayV. In NCT there are 23 members.

Yes Both EXO and NCT are under SM ent. There is SuperM too (consists of members from 3 SM boygroups: EXO, NCT, ShiNee).
There are top 3 big agencies in Kpop: SM, YG and JYP (plus newcomer BigHit actually since they rocketed these past years with BTS). All provides many kinds of amazing musics with their own styles.

Bro I just subbed! I don't listen to K-Pop much but I stumbled upon this group earlier this year and have been hooked. Their entire discography is different from the rest of the industry over there. I guess that's what drew me on to them.

Just a heads up, If you are going to react to the older MV's of nct dream, don't be shocked about how young they are + cute concept :P (Youngest was 14 and oldest 17 at the time), all of them are adults now tho :) The concept changed over the years too, like it is now more mature ;P

NCT is Neo Culture Technology a 23 member group as of 2020. It has 4 subunits . NCT U (United) anyone in NCT can join a song depending on the theme. NCT 127 the main group based in Seoul Korea. NCT Dream is the youngest group still based in korea. And WAYV a unit with mostly Chinese members. NCT is diverse they have members that are Korean, Korean- American, Korean - Canadian, Japanese, Chinese, Thai Chinese and Thai Hongkong.

Just to second all other commenters’ suggestion, I will look forward to your next reactions to any of the other videos from the same latest album: MISFIT, MAKE A WISH, FROM HOME, WORK IT, RESONANCE.
And to add a couple more cents: as unique as kpop is compared to main stream music, you will find NCT’s distinction that is even more different to what you probably already hear from kpop as you react to more of them, since they are well known for pushing the boundaries with experimental beats, sounds and compositions, mixing several genres into one, having multiple beats switches in one song, adding weird sounds that usually many (even old fans) would be confused or dislike at first, but after multiple listens later on find them addictive.
Just like their trademark of being versatile and experimental, so too is their group having the most unique structure ever existed in the industry of having “limitless expansion” which means, the current 23 members spread across the 4 sub-units:
- NCT 127 being South Korea based
- NCT DREAM being the youngest members
- WayV being China based
- NCT U being non-fixed combination of any members
these will also continue to grow in numbers in the future, in line with their vision to spread (kpop music in general and more specifically) their music to all corners of the world.
