    The DeLorean DMC-12 is a legend. Its starring role in Back To The Future put it in front of millions all over the world and its development was, erm, newsworthy... We got the keys to an unmolested 80's DeLorean and hit the road.

    This version of the delorean is actually the one I’ve been looking for. That hood, automatic transmission, those rims and tires. All what I hope to have one day.

    This guy doesn't really sound like he knows what he's talking about. I've had my 82 DeLorean for over 12 years now and it is definitely a very responsive car and a great handling car for what it is and even though I have done an extensive amount of restoration work on the car myself and some customization to a point but even before I started the restoration and tearing down the car the car was still a very responsive well handling car and quite honestly I think very well built despite what everybody says and thinks about it. When I bought my car all I did was rebuild the fuel system and I drove the car around on everything that was still original and I literally beat the hell out of it just to see what would break and the only thing that failed was a clutch slave cylinder and that part I found out was originally replaced in 1986 and was the only part replaced on the car. I I think it's a well-built and beautiful car and it's definitely something you would want to take on a long cruise because it is absolutely comfortable!

      Done. And keep up the great work. I'm not a big motor head, just a DeLorean nut and your shots and close ups coupled with the child like excitement of the presenter pretty much perfectly summed up why I love this car.

    Loved the video XCAR. I live right down the street from the DeLorean factory in Humble. Funny thing is I drive down that road right off of the Beltway right behind that church everyday. If you are on the freeway in the evenings the sun hits the DeLoreans just right and the stainless steel shines. Great that someone is keeping those cars alive.

    I wonder if John Z really was part of an FBI sting or not. The old videos from the motel room where it happened wasn't really telling. It's a shame that DMC never succeeded. He was a brilliant man with natural charm and personality. Great job, XCAR!

    People talk about how heavy it is. It's less than 3000 pounds. That's a featherweight by today's standards. It's the anemic engine with around 130hp that makes it seem heavy. Not to mention the one he's driving has a 3 speed automatic.

    awesome video. Great camera lead, cut, wonderful pictures. Most of all, accurate and well chosen facts provided, summarizing the story in short. Who is owner of the car shown? Have front tires correct dimensions (195/60R14)? I would want to know how owner got these tires. Actually, BF Goodrich Radial T/A are not available in these dimensions any longer, but only in 215/60R14. But tires shown don't seem to be that size.

    I've always wanted one of these. I'd love to get one and just modify it and make it better, new suspension, engine, transmission, and try and do something with the gage cluster. The design is so cool and I love it, it would be amazing to make it a bit more sporty.

Uncle has 2 of them an Auto and Manual Both Great cars I had the honor of driving the auto a few times best time of my life and a really great car. Now with DMC making New ones and the New Electric Delorean makes it even more newer. And to that fact there are so many New mods you can do to it new Turbo Engine better suspension better brakes just to name a few new upgrades.

    Heh, y'know there's a Japanese visual novel / anime known as Steins;Gate that I really like. It involves some time machine shenanigans, and in particular, the cast develops a way to send e-mails to the past. After a brief discussion they name said e-mails "D-mails" as a shortening of "DeLorean-Mail".
    Pretty neat imo.

    Although that car has always been really cool, I've always thought that it looks a little awkward. The aesthetic and silhouette of it are great, so I wouldn't want to change that, but I think it could benefit a lot from some very subtle resto-modding. Lower the car a bit, and put some nicer wheels on. And making the front fascia and splitter look a bit sleeker and aggressive, but still keeping that square, 80s style to it. Maybe the back could use a little sprucing up too, in a similar fashion.

    I don't know why you had to focus on the negatives XCar. There are plenty of other youtube videos out there that will do the same nitpicking and retelling of its troubled past. I already know how terrible the DeLorean is in stock form so why not show off all of the upgrades that are available. I mean you were at the new DeLorean shop for Christ's sake.

      johnnyd83 I love the DeLorean but it's rubbish. Face it. It has a sluggish PRV engine, emissions control ruined everything about it and it was so unreliable it had to be rebuilt when it was shipped to America. It was a terrible car - that doesn't make it any less cool though.

    • @johnnyd83
      @johnnyd83 9 лет назад

      JackpodyDK
      You're right, mostly. The cat converter took a good 40hp right off the top. But those restrictions are easily undone, bringing the DMC up to spec.
      As far as reliability, yes. The very first cars had issues. Almost 99% of which cured by a bigger alternator. But that was only the very first cars when all eyes were on DMC. That's why the hype precedes truth.
      The fact that the kinks in the early cars were easily sussed out and the vast majority were very reliable is the boring truth compared to the saucy hype.
      So I disagree. They aren't rubbish. They're still daily drivers after 30 years.
      They're just slow stock. Not unreliable.
      But if all someone cares about is pure speed, yes. Rubbish.
      I've tortured mine for 15 years. It always, always starts in 1 crank and gets me from A-B. I've gone through several cars while my Delorean still fires up the first time, every time.
      So no. They are not unreliable. That is a myth.

    • @benjaminburner8239
      @benjaminburner8239 9 лет назад

      JackpodyDK Let's see, a Delorean from 1980, versusa Ferrari from 2010. what is the age difference?
      Oh that's right, 30 straight years.
      And how was the technology back in the 1980s? Then again, Lambor Countach from 1980s. Heard of it? No. So can't say rubbish car until you compare the age. You might as well say Maserati Spyder rubbish cuz compare it to the Delorean, they are about the same. But Maserati, would you say rubbish to it?No.
